That's probably more bad news for Republicans, as people generally oppose defunding Planned Parenthood, especially when that defunding effort is tied to a government shutdown.

Those Planned Parenthood videos may be the worst thing to happen to the GOP since Bush left office.

Let him veto and then give him a budget with his precious PP funding in order to avoid government shutdown. Democrats need to go on record on this issue and we need to see that this President is willing to shut down the government over this issue as well...not Republicans. It's high time for Republicans to be the adults in the room.

If PP is such an issue how about a bill that removes PP money at some future date while creating a new and better version of PP?
This is called compromise its a pretty good way of getting stuff done. While you may not get everything you desire you get enough to be satisfied.

The GOP used the highly edited PP videos for their political agenda to refund PP... It's quite stupid and the Elephant in the room, to actually think PP is selling organs etc.... If so, they would have been investigated and shut down by the feds...

Then as I'm walking to work in the morning I see all these people walking around the Supreme Court with Anti-Abortion posters and other posters citing PP selling of organs.

I agree in some compromise, since the GOP will be hardcore on getting rid of PP. But what did PP do wrong??? They have been doing this practice for 1000s of years. I'm sure they have been handing out 1000000's of forms to mothers with check boxes on them asking "Do you want the fetus to go to medical research etc??"...

Yep...and a lot of Republicans are getting pretty pissed about it too.

When we refer to GOP dysfunction are we referring to the.

1. Last Gov Shutdown

OR THE

1. Racism and bigotry of recent candidates.
2. Stupidity and lack of knowledge of candidates.
3. ETC...

So by forcing the Democrats to back a position a sizable majority of the country agrees with (along with repudiating other unpopular social conservative positions) the GOP will somehow secure an even greater majority via an election where they have so many seats up for grabs and that is demographically unfavorable.

Makes sense to me.

unfortunately, the public isn't too bright.
how else are they the majority in congress.

Great, now Boehner will be moving in near me in FL. He bought a condo on Marco Island last year. I predict he'll be dead in 18 months if he doesn't get his drinking under control and I suspect he has no desire to do that. I wouldn't even be surprised to find he has a terminal illness. All that drinking and sun exposure eventually can take a toll.

I think he's been around way too long to walk away from the gravy train that exists at his level. But, maybe he figures he's weathered the last challenge to his speakership that he could survive and desires to go out on top on his terms. Regardless, it's good to see him going. We'll see what corrupt SOB takes his place. I'm certain we won't be the worse for it.

We'll probably never know for certain his real reasons for leaving but I hope the door hits him in the ass on the way out.

I want the Democrats in Congress to go on record as well...elections are coming soon.

At what point do you cease all the theatrical bullshit like "going on the record" votes and actually get on with the act of governance, which is bowing to current political reality and compromising on bills to get SOME of what you want? Republicans always think there's going to be a clean sweep in their favor in the next election, and constantly put off our nations business waiting for that to happen.

He's "good" because as an establishment Republican he served your interests, not ours.
The base wants to fight. Not placate Democrats.

The political reality here is that this Congress AND this President don't effectively lead or compromise. Let's get everyone on record here and move on imo...let the voters decide who best represents their interests next election.
