Don't be cruel Aigo. BTRY has an itch and you are tempting him to scratch it. 🙂

(Now I wonder how much a water cooled I7 set up would cost, hmmm... tempting)

I7 I7 I7; lets got I7! J/K Thats a nother month or so away for me. Want to get my 9550 going first. Lobster is good, very very good!

All I would have to do is sell my DDR 3 board, shift the Q9650 to my P5Q premium board, sell off the 8400 and put that money towards a 920 and X58 board... but something keeps telling me to wait... been hearing something interesting about a hydro chip

EDIT: ah shit, forgot to ask the question i was going to ask

If i clip on that PSU jumper/adapter will that make the entire PSU hot/active where I can just hook up the 4 pin molex plug and run the pump and test the loop for leaks???

Thanks

To short the PSU on, you need to jump the green wire to ground.

Pin 16 goes to ground, the power supply will energize.

u mean the paper clip on the green and black wire?

yes it will short your psu so it works via switch on the rear.

But watch out, some PSU's have a minimum load requirement, so you might want to also connect your fan controllers and have your fans on while bleeding also.

I dont know if it helps any or not, may be too late now too. Microcenter is selling the 920 for $230. almost jumped on it, but had to hold myself back, lol

i just finished putting together my loop too, it'd be like a null start again, ugh, but omg it's an impulse away; with 7.75% tax (i think) it comes to 245 out the door... wow!

I know what you mean. I almost bought out of impulse when i saw the price. But seeing these prices just assures us that its a matter of time before everyone sells at this price or prices even come down further.

I also know how you feel. I think I paid $400 for my 9550 which I hate doing. I dont mind $300 or less but it was an impulse buy when they first came out.

i had to start adding water as fast as i could to take my mind off it and save my self from my self, whew. stay strong brother!

keep up the good work to with your loop build,

updates soon,

take care

I"ve been a bad, very bad hobbyist - i lost the battle, it'll probably sit around for another half year like my Q9650 did...

EDIT: now let me go snow blow my 1' deep driveway to go and get it

That's what happens to me. I get AIGOED! I get my rig together and Aigo says TRY THIS!!!!! I have to tear down and re-loop yet again!

LOL, I thought you were going to stay strong? Congrats I think; you are not helping me stay strong either. wonder if my local comp shop will pricematch this..hmmm.

What batch# did you get? I heard the batch with B is good, but a lot are getting A's; not sure how it compares.

FPO/BATCH # 3838A687 ... whats the word, B's overclock higher? don't say it ain't so, no really, i wanna know -heh

I was reading on XS I think it was that the B's are getting to 4GHZ+ on air. I think the A's are the newer ones and do not have any word on them atm. My info may not be correct so dont hold me to it. All's I know is the B's are doing very well. I 'm sure yours will do just fine.

If I can find more info I will let you know. I just recall yesterday someone asking what batch is best and people with the B's saying they are getting 4+ghz on air. I also think most are getting the A's right now; so it may be a new batch and could possibly yield better results than the B's.

I am thinking of going to local comp store to see if they can match MC price as I live approx 60-70 miles away from MC. I have some in-laws in Denver, but do not nbeed to visit them atm, lol. I do know someone that may be able to buy me one and ship it down here. I also got $100 yesterday from work for my (I think 5yr) Anniversary gift. Definately going to apply this towards my computer. just to figure out what I want to buy.

If I buy the I7; may have to postpone water project and case, lol

EDIT: Also finally got time today to hook up my new Gigbyte EP45-UD3P! So far getting better results than my DFI x38 mobo. Very happy. Just started playing so we will see what final results will be. Currently at 3.9ish GHZ on OCZ Vendetta2. also need to compare V2 to Xig cooler

Did a little google search and landed here. If I do decide to keep this I won't be able to water cool it for a while which means it'll be running at stock speeds. Which is actually how I did my 8400. I only recently clocked it to 4Ghz but all the reports with either batch that show 4ghz are of high load temps. 70's 80's which is insane... I hope I didn't jump the gun too early -argh! But one of the thoughts that pushed me was the stimulus package.. hah...

I thought you were saving it for H20 cooling?

BTRY, what MB and RAM are you going to get for the I7?

I won't know until i've sold off a few things but tbh, i started looking at the Intel board. That ugly lookin ...thing. ... I've already got a 2x2Gb DDR3 1600 kit by Super Talent so i'll probably be the only one running a dual channel i7
