The new dungeon finder that allows you to get quite a few Emblems of Triumph (what you use to buy T9) in a short period of time.

How are the classes right now? Pretty balanced or no? Trying to decided if I should play my druid or my DK, and if my druid, which spec.

Druids are damn fun man, damn fun. I enjoy it a lot more than my DK. I play feral in PvP, working out my gear still but with what I have I can keep someone stunlocked long enough to kill them.

No one does lower-level raids (unless they're the weekly) because there's no point. You can easymode gear now with the new systems.

Heh, I find this part of the developer chat amusing...

Am I supposed to call myself a bonehead for having a trinket-boosted DoT affect my ability to overwrite? ;)

I interpreted this more for things like a rogue doing 1cp Expose Armor while a dps warrior is putting up sunders (in a raid without a warrior tank). (or any other similar pairing of abilities).

Right now, if the sunder isn't 5-stacked, the EA will overwrite it, resetting the stack and preventing the warrior from stacking it, and if it is, the EA will fail.

Blizzard is saying they'd like to move to a system where the last-cast ability will apply, and let raids sort it out themselves instead of having the game decide for you.

This is a good thing IMO.

It also alleviates some annoying quirks of the rotations of anyone with DoTs.

druids are much more fun/versatile than DKs, but feral rotations are a pain in the ass and balance is kind of broken (eclipse on movement fights = lose). DK rotations are simpler but not by much, you're pretty much using every GCD to cast something.

I know it's the very definition of superficial, but as much as I enjoy my druid, it's kind of soul-draining to go from level 1 to 80 and look *exactly* the same no matter how cool your gear is.

That's the very reason I haven't rolled a druid. I really like the open nature of the paladin and druid in that you can "be" whatever you want. However, I refuse to roll a paladin because a jerk friend has a level 80 ret paladin and he thinks he's the baddest thing to ever walk on our server :). I refuse to roll a druid because I want to have an actual persona, not the same looking cat/bear/tree/whatever as everyone else.

With that said, now that my priest is decked out in some tier 9 gear and frost emblem gear, I still look like every other caster out there anyway. That's one of my biggest pet peeves of the game is that it's basically gems that let you customize your gear, not different armor sets, so everybody looks the same.

our GM was hacked and guild disbanded yesterday. Anyone hear of any battle.net hack jobs? They aren't even answering calls - apparently they are overwhelmed.

When I re-joined WoW a while ago I remember all my gear going from item level 170ish to 232 easily in about two weeks after the released the Frozen throne 5-mans. It was super quick. Some fortunate soul on this forum now owns my account though as I gave it to him a while back.

Any guild master should own a authenticator, even the officers.

In my guild we seem to have an account hack every month or two. As a result, the entire Guild Council (Raid Leaders/Officers, our 3 Co-GMs, as well as the de-facto Guildmaster) are all 'wearing this protection' (so to speak). And we highly encourage our general membership to do the same. The second level of protection is we limit access to bank tabs containing the most valuable items to the aforementioned people.

The keychain one is cheap enough at something like 6 bucks (and you get a pet :p ). And if you have an iPhone or an Android based smartphone: The app is free for those, so there's really no excuse.

That, and good security - (I use NoScript, MalWarebytes, LastPass, and NOD) - on your comp. Even when the sites themselves are conscientiously run, I know that sites like Wow-Heroes, Wow Web Stats, Wowhead, etc have all been hacked {at least once} to drive-by download keyloggers. Not to mention common UI mods also been given (intentionally or not) an extra 'passenger' from time to time...

Many/most players put a lot of time into the game - It's only common sense to protect it.

frost tank DK... if I'm defense-capped already (actually up to 574def), what should I concentrate on? Should I get rid of defense gems and concentrate only on dodge, stam, or strength at this point? I'm also a JC so I put all 3 +51stam gems but perhaps it could be better used. My GS is up at 4900 without doing any raiding.

You shouldn't gem defense at all. Even when started gearing up, to hit 540 you should be ok without the need to gem defense.

I would still put 3 +51 stam, have +dodge (and +hit maybe? depending on the rest of your stat) variation gems to fulfill your meta gem requirement, and +stam gems for the rest.

Edit: I'm not an expert or anything though so take it with a grain of salt :)

It's been my experience that - although my overall philosophy is to find a good balance - there is enough avoidance on gear and built into your Defense rating that the best practice is still to stack Stamina any/everywhere you don't have a mandatory requirement. Examples being activating your meta gem, and keeping your melee stats at reasonable levels so your Threat doesn't suffer. I don't see this changing in the near future, though since Blizzard has stated they're lowering the amount of avoidance on gear it may prove that Avoidance ends up becoming more valuable than it currently is once Cataclysm is released.

The corollary to that rule is it's also a best practice to collect trinkets and jewelery so you have the option to adjust where you sit on the "Effective Health versus Avoidance" spectrum as needed for individual fights.

While 540 is the number to shoot for for raiding, more is still "better" since the extra Defense does increase your avoidance. Having said that, 574 Defense is higher than I'm confortable with and I would look for places to lose +Def in order to pick up Armor, Stam, Avoidance, and Melee stats. Whichever is most important will vary depending on your gear. For example, my own Deathknight is OK on Expertise (31 with food), but a little low on +Hit (5%~ish). So I keep my eyes open for ways to get that balance closer to the ideals.

I wouldn't gem defense unless the gear you're using puts you below the soft raid cap, which can happen if you're not careful. I'm tempted to make the 264 crafted boots for my pally and that will put him at 539 defense. I just need to get the non-set helm from LDW25 and that'll give me +9 defense skill :p.

Pally in question: http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Alleria&cn=Darrox

I don't know about the tank boots, but I do know the Mail crafted boots are holy pally BiS until heroic Dreamwalker. Pretty nice hitting 80 and getting BiS.

Boots are alright, but I don't have too many other options... I don't really run 25-mans. Although, the two items from 25-man that I do want are from the 2nd and 3rd bosses, so that's not bad :p.

When couple of our members got hacked the GM and officers revoked Guild vault access until you showed your core hound (revoked as in limited it's use), even the officers.

They could just remove the authenticator after showing the pet.

i'm sure they could, but we trust our members. The guild as a whole has been together for ages. There is no reason to lie about this, its freaking six dollars.

I don't like having to enter a code, which is why I don't have an authenticator on my account even though I have a physical auth and a capable phone >_>.
