Yeah it's justiannoying. My old PC was complete shit and now I wont accept anything less than 70fps on this thing
Another thing I forgot to post with regards to slowdown in large cities; make World of Warcraft large address aware.
By default the game can only use 2gb of ram, ultra high settings will exceed that memory limitation. Making the game large address aware bumps it's memory usage ability to 3gb.

There is a blue post somewhere on the wow forums saying it is ok to modify your wow.exe for this purpose.
I did this a while ago, it removed all stuttering I had when turning my character in Orgrimmar and while flying in Orgrimmar, and removed the random out of memory crashes I'd experience.
It is definitely shadows that tank your system with the increase in players.
Girlfriend is running a GTX 460 and her frame rate held strong, 40-50FPS while she watched our server's first legendary event. There ere at least 100-200 people at the time.
She has her shadows I believe on medium.
I know when I used full shadows I'd see performance hits frequently, one notch below and I don't notice the difference in shadows, and my performance doesn't get hit as hard.
Post 4.1, WoW is large address aware by default.

turning down the water detail has a massive effect on your frame rate as well, even when there is no water on the screen
Something happened in a recent patch that made my framerates periodically go to hell when I interact with certain NPCs.
The JC daily person in Org is one I talk to every day - frames go down to the single digits; when I'm done talking, back to ~80 ish.'
It hasn't always been like this.
so, I got sucked back into the game D:
I'm home all week recovering from having my wisdom teeth removed (and convincing myself that I have a dry socket Dand a friend sent me a scroll of resurrection to waste time with.
I was questing on my level 85 paladin to get my guild rep up to honored (done) and now I can't decide on which of my "actual" characters to level to 85 -- rogue or warlock.
any suggestions? I haven't really been keeping up with patch notes or anything and I don't know what the current state of each class is.
edit: also, gathering profession suggestions? my rogue is currently leatherworking/enchanting, which made sense when I was raiding and trying to eek out as much dps as possible, but if I decide to level my rogue, I'd rather not have a profession that will require AH'ing tens of thousands of gold in leather skins.
I couldn't resist ^_^..........

Want your WoW character to be drawn ? shoot me a PM !
Anyone want to send me a Scroll of Resurrection? PM me and I'll send you my email addy.
Thanks
So yeah, getting tired of raiding. FL is boring and short. 2/7 on heroic and we haven't done more due to real life situations taking control of our 10 man raids.
I just can't wait for Diablo 3.
We're 5/7 right now (just Baleroc and Ragnaros left) and ugh... we had a 14 minute fight against H-Alysrazor. Soooooo dull.
Baleroc looks like fun to me.
I'm thinking about taming a beetle and naming it Ringo.
thoughts?
also still trying to think of good names for my dog (blue mage-hunter model) and turtle.
