I would love to give some tips, but TBH, I have been gone from WoW since last June (and before that I was playing my DK). I am a long time warrior but most of my pvp experience was at Lvl 70.

I have been Arms for a total of 2 days now so I don't value my own opinion much at this point! Honestly, my gear isnt' really optimized for PvP atm either. A few things I will say:
-after being TG Fury I feel like I hit with a limp noodle as Arms--even MS seems weak. As another poster said, i didn't spec for slam. I have personally never liked that ability unless it was a rage free, instant proc.
-I spec'd into 2nd wind and whatever the first tier talent is called for increasing healing effects on you. I also glyphed my victory rushs to increase healing by 50% and I am seeing 12-15k HEALING from a victory rush which is pretty dang awesome IMO. I did some open world PvP against a lock last night and this ability saved me.
-I love the new "throwdown" ability (5s stun)
-I wouldn't even know a good strategy for rogues anymore, if they have had half as many changes as Warriors they have tools/strats against us that I am unfamiliar with. I know that if I was going to 1v1 a rogue the first thing I would do would try to disarm him and get thunderclap/demo shout and a rend on him. Because our bladestorm can be disarmed, I would want to save that until after he disarmed me. I would also save throwdown for an all out effort to burst a rogue down--ie, after he is at 50% health or so. Otherwise he'll vanish/sprint/blind etc. and get away if he see's he's going to lose.
-I haven't even bothered creating a macro to switch to 1h/shield for spell reflect. I just go down swinging against mages who destroy me easily.
-I've heard Mastery is a good stat to reforge into for Arms
-Rage hasn't been a problem at all for me so far
-I am saving up to get the Wrathful Axe (297 dps or so?) which will be a huge upgrade my my ilvl 232 axe..

Although Arms is nice, i'm almost ready to head back to Fury land. I don't enjoy dpsing a heroic with Arms (dps went way down for me) and Fury isnt' that bad for PvP from what I've seen.

There are some new pvp talents int he Fury tree (at least they werent' there last I played) such as the talent that resets the CD on intercept, the talent to reduce healing by 20% from auto swings, and the healing available through bloodthirst (I've never glyphed this up to see how well it will heal yet), and of course piercing howl.

If you want to laugh at my scrub gear and see the spec I am trying out, I am Splatter on Dunemaul.

Someone correct me if I’m wrong but haven’t they dropped the cost of buying duel spec? That’s what I would do and switch back to the spec you need when you need it.

If we were looking for a sign that Blizzard is listening to the Hunter complaints and actually trying to address them prior to Cataclysm, they pretty much dashed that idea last night.

In a hot fix yesterday Blizzard changed silencing shot to a “NO DPS” ability. Saying it should be a utility shot only and they didn't like the fact that hunters were using it in Macros with all their shots.

OMG.... Blizzard hasn't seen the major sites saying that our DPS has been decreased already? They think it's still it’s wrong to use Silencing Shot on a macro with other, now also sub par shots exactly why?

WTF? Oh but I'm forgetting that I'll be fine in another 5 levels... which I cant get right now no matter how hard I try.

So here is an idea then, take Silencing Shot OUT of the talent tree and have hunters learn it at a trainer. Then put in a talent that actually helps us with DPS. But as it stands we need to spend a talent point on Silencing shot, something that Blizzard says should be a “Utility”

Are there any other hunters besides me that used Silencing shot with Misdirect to get a stubborn caster Mob sticky on a Tank? Are there any other Hunters besides me that used Volley to sticky a group of mobs on a warrior tank. A good example of when this is in POS when you run the tunnel and stop on the half way platform. Mobs are right on top of you so Multi shot wont work at that range but MD to the tank and hit Volley… Instant agro control. Sure the agro from MD slides off after 15 seconds but it gives the tank a boost at the start and that’s helpful.

I get this picture of a Blizzard Dev meeting… all of the Devs are dressed in robes, looking like mages or warlocks. Sitting on the table in front of them is a poster of a WoW hunter and they are all sticking pins in the poster and laughing.

I can't say I ever liked healing, although when on a healing capable type (unless as prot) I'd generally look out in case the healer in a 5 man was having momentary trouble, so as I was reading the holy pally thread where GC is wading through with the ban shotgun I fee even more confident in that choice.

Yay, I can buy cold weather flying on my 70 rogue then! I am quite pleased!

I know. :) Just that you were responding to my post on Vengeance with a comment on Vigilance. ;)

Yeah, because given how Vengeance is such an odd mechanic, it has execution flaws, but Vigilance just required you to understand who does the most TPS (that isn't a tank). A negative aspect would be if your Vigilance target died :p.

yup. the tome of cold weather flying no longer exists.

just a side-note, though, the trainer only exists in Borean Tundra. there's no corresponding flight trainer in Howling Fjord.

really the cold weather trainer isn't in Dalaran anymore?

and

Thanks for the responses DavidPaul and Scott - i'll do some messing around based on your suggestions! I'm just so used to Fury it's a tough change.

the trainer is there, but she's just a trainer now -- doesn't have an option to sell the BoA tome.

I believe that level 68's can train cold weather flying there, but of course, that requires getting to dalaran in the first place.

Okay cool but you mentioned there's also a flight trainer in BT?

I do have duel spec but my 2nd spec is for tanking and I don't want to give up that ability. Also, switching between Fury and Arms is more painful now that you need 27% +hit on Fury (that is for a raid boss, not sure how much less you need to never miss a lvl 80).

Have to burn close to 4000 justice points, as I don't need much gear (I.e. Without icc 25 man emblems), what's a good thing to drop them on before the $$ conversion hits.

You can buy it anywhere there's a flight trainer I think. I know for a fact you can buy it at Valiance Keep

I think 27% is the white hit cap... I can't speak for warriors, but as a rogue, it's not practical to attempt to hit the cap without totally gimping all your other stats.

This is why I'm forgetting Fury and going with Arms.

Yes, that's the white hit cap. The white hit cap when dual-wielding is always 19% + the one-handed/two-handed hit rate. So 19 + 8 = 27.

Shamans still come pretty close to their hit cap. I only have something like a 2% miss chance on my shaman because I can't shed anymore hit.

Yeah last night I was running guild premades in WSG and AB. I was the only healer we pretty much rolled over people (minus 1 or 2 other premades that made it a little fun) and never lost. At one point I had the flag and was sitting in their GY while 4 or 5 beat on me. A little nerf never hurt anyone :p

I was beating on a damn healadin with my rogue and after about a 2 min battle of him stunning me and healing and all the other good stuff, he killed me. So sad.

KK - We're on the same page now. :)

The answer is "Vigilance The Main Tank", right! :D

Back Pre WotLK I got into an Epic battle. It was my Paladin against a Druid. We sat beating on each other for a long time but neither of us was able to finish the other off. I finally got ganked when his buddies showed up.

Those were the days when I loved to do Alteric Valley on my Protection Warrior. It was about the only BG that the Alliance won on a regular basis. Everything else at that time was dominated by Horde pre made groups

5 Things about 4.0.1 that I never had the time to news
Because, I really have to get them on the front page at some point.

•Epic gems cooldown aren't removed, they're just syncronized with the daily quest reset now.
•You can farm Anzu in heroic Sethekk Halls for his epic mount even if you're not a druid.
•You can buy most of Arena gear even if you do not have the proper rating, requirements seems to be gone from all items. ilvl 277 weapons are the only items left with a rating requirement.
•The gold cap is now 1,000,000 Gold.
•I don't actually have a 5th one, so here is a hug. /hug

This will both improve overall damage-dealing and make sure that these abilities are prioritized higher than other shots. We think this will bring hunters to a good enough state until they hit 85. Aspect of the Fox and Cobra Shot solve some specific issues at higher levels. Marksman hunters may still trump Survival and Beastmaster hunters until they’re 85, since their rotations rely a little on Cobra Shot.

Armor changes in 4.0.1
We looked into your findings, and the armor numbers reflect an intentional change meant to cover the armor increases players would get between levels 81 and 85. We should have been more explicit with the rest of the announced Cataclysm changes that physical damage would go up. (It only affects creatures higher than level 80 -- bosses in this case -- so this change has no current PvP ramifications.)

Now that our live class balance changes are slowing down* and players are starting to learn their class changes, we can get a better idea of whether players are struggling more on content that they used to be able to clear. We've made some Icecrown and Halion changes already and we may need to make more.

Nice job on the analysis.

* -- We are continuing to make Cataclysm changes for classes. We will extend these to level 80 and / or hotfix when we think it's relevant. (Source)

Resilience Hotfix
My resilience post above was confusing.

We had buffed resilience by 50% and then lowered it by 25%. This is a 12.5% buff from before the patch. To use clean numbers, if you had 40% damage reduction, we buffed it to 60% (a 50% increase) and then lowered it to 45% (a 25% decrease). (Source)

Balance in low-level BGs
So can a blue state whether or not the very, very high damage outputs in low level pvp will be addressed or not? Rogues able to one-shot most enemies in sub-80 pvp: working as intended, or not?
Nobody should be one-shotting at any battleground level, so yes that (and many other class abilities) will be addressed. (Source)

Mage (Forums / Cataclysm Talent Calculator / Beta Skills/Talents)
Weak mages on Beta
This is a case of having to balance differently between 80 and 85. The original mage numbers were targeted at 85, which made them overpowered at 80. We nerfed them at 80, which then made them weak at 85. We now have two sets of numbers in place so that they should be relatively balanced at both levels.

Mages are not the only class with this problem, sometimes in the opposite direction. (Source)

Paladin (Forums / Cataclysm Talent Calculator / Beta Skills/Talents)
Holy Paladin Hotfix
Yes, we buffed the 5 paladin direct heals (FoL, HL, DL, HS, WoG). This is a change for both level 80 and 85. We are going to tone down Holy Radiance as I described in the other thread. It can be powerful without being 75% of paladin healing.

I know it's customary for players to classify everything as either overpowered or garbage, but we believe there are actual numbers in between say 1 and 100, so give the changes a chance before you dismiss them.

It is possible we will nerf Word of Glory for Prot and Ret at 85 to compensate for this buff since they probably don't need stronger Words. (Source)
