So far, just about every defense witness has offered testimony verifying the charges or otherwise benefiting the prosecution. Even Franklin Graham ended up inadvertently helping the prosecution.

Ammon Bundy took the stand yesterday, carrying a bible and a pocket Constitution. He whined about the hardships that have befallen his family, sobbing that his father and brothers are all in jail. Then he went onto to regurgitate the lies his father told at the Nevada stand-off. The defense showed a video of Bundy being tased in Nevada. Hopefully, the prosecution will follow up with the unedited video showing that Bundy was tased because he was kicking a police dog. Not sure what relevance any of this has to the charges in this trial but the judge allowed it in. In fact, the only testimony Bundy offered that is relevant to the charges was his discussion of his decision to go to Oregon and organize sedition.

Also, possibly related, the Bureau of Land Management office in Challis, ID burned early Tuesday morning. No word on cause yet.

I am hoping for life imprisonment for the whole brood without the possibility of parole. I would also like to see all of their land and assets confiscated and sold off to pay for the back taxes that they owe. It is nice to see genuinely evil people get their comeuppance.

Ammon Bundy's testimony today went off the rails. At one point he quotes the Doctrine and Covenants of the LDS Church as a rationale for trying to steal federal land and warmed up to recite scripture. The prosecution objected that none of this was in any way relevant to the charges, the judge agreeing.

Ammon went on to further describe the conspiracy he organized while insisting that it wasn't a conspiracy.

Edit: more detailed reports on testimony are out. Ammon basically confessed to the conspiracy charge and the impediment charge. The defense is doing a hell of a job.

Win or lose doesn't matter to them. If he ends up in the big house then he will just be a rallying point for those think the government is out to get them so the movement "wins" if he gets off then government was wrong and the movement "wins".....

Hopefully they can join Ammon in prison before they hurt any innocent people.

Hopefully they can all start their own mini-protests and insurrections and all be subsequently tossed in prison, their properties confiscated. Would be great if much of their property is turned over to actual public use, with a good portion of it being leased off to legitimate cattle farmers.

Hopefully nonviolent, middling drug offenders can be released to make space for these treasonous scumbags.

Just reading through today's testimonials. Judges aught to be given the authority to dispense interlocutory lashes. "The witness has offered thirteen contradictory statements in under five minutes. The bailiff will administer seven lashes and the witness will then continue. The jury may take a swing if they wish."

I'm sure that the Judge sees it all as tedious but the defense must be allowed to play all their cards, even if every one is a loser. I wonder if the jurors have been rolling their eyes...

Update: Ryan Bundy has submitted a motion for dismissal and release based on (if I have this straight, I might have missed a few steps here):

The power of the court derives from the Constitution and
The Constitution derives from English common law and
English common law derives from the power of the English king and
The power of the king derives from the Holy Roman Catholic Pope and
In 2011, notice was sent from some American crank to the pope notifying him that his trust ownership of the world has been dissolved and
Therefore the authority of the court is now invalid because all powers originating in the papacy were extinguished in 2011.

Ryan is a Mormon and sov cit with his own version of the Constitution yet somehow this filing made sense to him.

I'm not saying I support forced sterilization, but I get it.

And full stop. No intelligent person with authority is going to disavow the Constitution. Time to bend over Mr. Bundy.
And maybe take some meds? But some crazy just needs 4 walls, some bars, a cot, and 3 square meals.
Sometimes you just let it go and don't try to fix it.

What makes his argument all the more bizarre is that up to this point, he had denied that the Constitution allowed for the court.

Right, well that's a logical step at least. To grant an opposing position and to work / move on from there.

Poor delusional fool. What he's doing is convincing the Judge that he needs to be locked up for as long as possible.

With all the charges, how come they aren't being charged with destruction of government property?

I thought he took hte building because he said the Government weren't following the Constitution with the land seizures and whatnot.

Jury acquits leaders of Oregon standoff of federal charges

I'd like to imagine they'd tuck tail and live quiet, normal lives from having narrowly escaped... but I'm afraid they're just going to be emboldened and possibly put lives at risk next time. And you know there will be a next time with these yahoos.

Oh, and this verdict will only apply to select members of the group based on the following.
Authorities had charged 26 occupiers with conspiracy. Eleven pleaded guilty, and another had the charge dropped. Seven defendants chose not to be tried at this time. Their trial is scheduled to begin Feb. 14.
