Got a 6S+ through Verizon. Was fairly painless compared to some of the hubbub between switching from contract to Edge that I dealt with last year.

It's strange cuz I actually have not heard ANYBODY that I know talk about the new iPhones....

I've had some people talk about them. Others that I know would like to upgrade, but it's seen as an unnecessary expense, and I can't blame them for that. The one person that seemed the most excited... she kept going on about the 12MP camera. To this person, it was the whole "bigger is better" mantra, because even though the 6/6+'s 8MP camera is arguably really good, it wasn't "big enough". o_O

For the wife: Ordered unlocked 6s Rose Gold 64 GB.
For myself: Ordered nothing. Will stick it out with the 5s for now. Our exchange rate is so bad that getting two hurts the wallet too much.

Apple Store Canada was down until 3:08. Completed my order at 3:09. Expected delivery 9/25 - 9/29.

I checked all the colours of the 64 GB 6s and all are still shipping 9/25-9/29 as 1:45 am PDT (4:45 EDT). However several of the 6s+ colours have slipped to 2-3 week shipping, although still ain't bad.

And 3 hours later that's still the case. Now the question is whether not immediately selling out is a good thing or a bad thing for Apple.:p

Edit: China's screwed though. And no one wants poor Sprint http://iphone-inventory.blogspot.com/2015/09/iphone-6s-pre-order-tracker.html

Hmmm... That means the scalpers will be out in full force.

The + looks incredibly popular in China.

Nice link ViRGE, thanks...

Pre-ordered my iPhone. It'll be here the 25th. I hope UPS doesn't try the same shady crap they did with my watch.

but I still bet come October everyone with a 5s is going to have a 6s ^_^

A lot of people like the smaller size of the 5s. I wonder what Apple will do about that next year with the iPhone 7.

I think the iPhone 6 is too big. I was tempted to get the 6 Plus because it's already unwieldly, so might as well get some extra pixels while I'm at it.

Maybe they'll go with an iPhone 7 Mini, iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus? They could actually just be a bit cheap and use the same form factor as the iPhone 5S but with the newer materials and such. Although, I'm sure people would call them out on using the same design like that.

Although, I'd be curious to see how many people really want the smaller size. At least in my experience, most people that prefer the smaller sizes were willing to accept the iPhone 6's size.

And 3 hours later that's still the case. Now the question is whether not immediately selling out is a good thing or a bad thing for Apple.:p

I wonder if the lower demand is either related to a higher supply or Apple not doing enough to convince people to upgrade. I've been using the iPhone since the 3GS, and the only one that I skipped was the 4. I was able to find a good enough reason to upgrade in all other revisions. However, as I mentioned earlier in this thread, I originally had no plans to upgrade -- the presentation simply didn't provide any sort of "wow factor" for me. It was actually articles talking about some of the new features and even some features that I missed in the live blogs that pushed me toward updating.

Hm, there are some interesting tidbits from there.... Rose Gold, like Gold from last year, seems to be the popular color -- most likely because it's new. I'm surprised that Japan, a country that usually prefers smaller devices, has longer wait times on the Plus.

Although, I think things are different from the time that you posted it. Sprint and TMobile seem like the more popular choices, but to be clear, that is out of their allotment. I have no idea if AT&T and Verizon simply got a lot more phones, which is why they didn't sell out as much. Anyway, both underdogs have sold out the majority (if not all) of their Plus models. What's also interesting is the incredibly low demand for the normal 6S.

There was a plan this year to redo the 5s as a 6c to market to the people who like the smaller screen. No spec bump or anything though.

I would want the 6s+ for the 1080p, but it's a little to big for my taste, and a little expensive. A 64GB 6s already uses all the money I've saved for useless stuff over the past 2 years plus a bit. I'm only 16 though, so maybe price isn't usually a big deal.

I'd take another 4" phone in a heartbeat.

This is going to sound a bit cynical, but I strongly suspect that Apple is purposely shorting the Rose model in order to spur stories about the iPhone selling out. This is an S generation product, so you can't tell the difference just by looking at the design of the phone. If you're a trend-setting fashionista wanting to make sure you are seen with the latest phone, then of course you need the Rose Gold model since the 6 wasn't available in that color. Purposely limiting the number of units makes it all the more exclusive.

It's very similar to the 5s, where a surprising number of people picked up the Gold model for that reason.

Personally I think in large part they just underestimated gold 5s demand. Even computer geeks like me and corporate business types were buying the gold version, instead of just Asian metrosexuals and bling-obsessed valley girls.

BTW, I'm seeing male forum geeks elsewhere buying rose gold now too, partially just because they like it. Hey, I'd even consider buying one. I have a bright pink iPod shuffle and I happen to like that colour. If I could have gotten a neon pink iPhone 6s, I might have just done that. ;)

I dont like the red-pink 5c though. In person, I actually much prefer the yellow to that one, even though I thought I'd hate the yellow.

If I were Phone Czar, you could buy your OnePhone in any color... so long as it was black.:p

And now the 6s+ is backordered 3+ weeks everywhere. I just don't get it. Why do people like such a large and unwieldy phone?

Honesty I've got huge hands and the 6+ fits in my hand similarly if not better than the 6. Also, movies, YouTube, and especially pictures and video with the new 12MP and 4k camera, look great on the 1080p screen. (Because honestly if there is one thing I love about the iDevices and iMacs/MBPs it is the screen. Though the 6s+ may should've been 1440p and 6s be 1080p)

If I had the money I would be torn between the 6s and 6s+.
It's not much bigger than a nexus 6, Galaxy s6 edge, or G4 though (my favorite androids), at least by how they felt in-store.

I've had my 6+ since release, and it hasn't really been an issue. I don't have small hands, so that helps. There have been times that I can't use my other hand with the phone, and I need to reach the top. I don't use the double-tap method, but I shuffle the phone in my hand. I've never dropped it doing this, so I'm not worried... *knock on wood*.

Back when phones were more about being an actual phone, I think that's when size didn't matter so much. As long as the mic went close enough to your mouth and the speaker close enough to your ear, it worked, which is why flip phones were so popular. These days, phones seem to be far, far more about their multimedia capabilities whether it's playing content that others have created (YouTube, Netflix, etc.) or making their own (recording video, etc.).

I've had Notes since gen 1, 6 plus since launch, you just get used to it.

Bought a 5s for my mother, it's so small, it seems nearly unusable now...

And I bought a rose gold 6 plus, LOL...

The 4'' iPhone 5 was just the right size IMO. Though the 4.7'' iPhone 6 isn't too bad. I'm not a terribly big fan of these 6'' phones. They seem to be very popular in the Android community. Granted they're easier to work on but they're almost too big to carry around.

I'm tempted to get the 6S but I'm still scoping out some other options. Ideally I'd go off contract but iPhones are way too expensive on their own to go that route.

Particularly in China.

In Chinese culture, yellow and gold represent prestige and good luck. And like here gold is perceived as an object of high value. Gold iPhones are a big status symbol for the nouveau riche over there.

Beats me why the pastel pink, er... "Rose Gold" phones are selling so well. I'd tend to agree that Apple is likely creating an artificial shortage of them to drive up demand. I miss the days when they used to just come in black or white.

Rose gold is new, and it's essentially pink, popular with women. My wife isn't Chinese and loves the rose gold. Hell, I even like it. But then again as mentioned my iPod shuffle is neon pink. Plus my MacBook Pro case is bright red.

White and black were fine, but really kinda boring if the only options if you ask me.

I love how the silver 6s looks the most honestly. It's very tempting to use it without a case.

Looks like all the 6 + are back ordered now, and if you consider women make up 50% of cell phone users, it wouldn't be a stretch to think the new more feminine color sold out first...
