Eh? The Zune has been out since 07, that's coming up on 3 years, and still no head units that integrate with them. Best Buy has about 6 accessories total for a Zune, that's uhhh, 2 a year. What will be your excuse in 5 years when there are still no head units that link up with a Zune. And there are a whopping 16 accessories available? You could buy more iPad accessories for it 2 months before it came out than the Zune after being out for 3 years. Length of time on the market has nothing to do with the lack of Zune support. And no, it's not going to change, ever...

Of course it's not going to change cus people like you blindly buy Apple products no matter how much they lack.

And WAY better smart playlists

For iTunes Smart Playlist abilities alone the Zune doesn't compare. Nice try with the >>>>>>>>> it should really be <<<<<<<<<<< but whatever...

On-device Smart DJ + Zune Pass is better than anything Apple offers. There is literally no comparison.

Being the father of the Zune just quit Microsoft along with his boss, you'd be hard pressed to label the Zune a success.

People said the same thing in 1998 about how Linux was going to kill Windows.

They were idiot nerds saying that....none with any sensible argument. Android phones are *already* outselling iphone and it did not have to be this way. Apple could have had the "killer app" so to speak if they were less controlling. Just like they could have dominated the PC market instead of MS.

The amount of support a product gets does not equate to the quality of the product. Bose, Monster, and Apple prove that.

Marketing is the difference. Apple has convinced the world they make superior products, they don't. They make pieces of art people buy to gain supposed stature.

I laugh at people showing off the iPhone apps. I had that 5 years ago on my Pocket PC.

MS and Apple don't compete on the same levels, I don't get the comparison?

Apple = Iphone, Ibooks, Iphones&IPads, Imacs. All products preloaded with proprietary software.

Microsoft = PC Gaming licenses, Zune (shouldn't even have this on there...), Operating Systems for computers and phones

If I'm missing something, Apple is all over the place , foreground and background, while Microsoft is content relatively on the background

Bose & Monster are self contained companies. SONY makes their own Mp3 player, yet they make an iPod speaker dock. Mind you, they don't make a speaker dock for their own mp3 player. Apple does make a superior product, why? Because it has support from a shitload of companies. The fact I can buy thousands of accessories for it makes it a superior product. As a music player you can argue which is the best, but I go for the one where I can buy anything I want for it anywhere.

Which costs money, my smart playlists are free and Zune has nothing to compare, sorry. Yes I use a Zune all the time, my GF has one. They offer nothing compelling in the way of smart playlists.

You can use SmartDJ without Zune Pass, and it is then a simlar feature to the Genius playlist Apple offers. Or, if you do have a Zune Pass (which is a fantastic deal and one of the biggest reasons to get a Zune anyway) it literally makes Genius a paltry feature not worthy of comparison.

Apple products are both vertically and horizontally integrated. They are not "all over the place".

Microsoft cannot say the same thing about their products.

I've used and supported Blackberry, Palm, CE/Mobile, Android and nothing comes close for a simpleton like me that sees the value in exclusivity and perceived pretentiousness while keepin it real and being productive enough at the same time.

You can criticize all you want but Apple doesn't need customers who don't see the value in their ways as they have a totally different agenda from the other companies and they have quite a big crowd of fans. They don't compete, they devour market share through smart and original innovations that attract like minded people with a knack for distinction even if it means shedding a bit more skin.

Apple makes cool and original accessible, others don't even have original products for this new market and that's where the bottom line is.

If everyone has it and uses it, it is not distinct.

Ok, so you admitted they make products for the lowest common denominator. Great, you buy the mediocre product because it's easy. If you want to be a mediocre person then that's your path in life.

I'm not a mediocre person and I don't buy mediocre products at premium product pricing.

What, exactly, is innovative about the iPhone? Apps? Nope. Power? Nope. Touchscreen? Nope.

In fact, the iPhone is a regression, no expandability, no flexibility, no change of batteries, locked OS, locked software.

You are completely beholden to Apple, which is pathetic. You aren't "think different", you are "think same, think mediocre, think expensive".

If the devil's greatest trick is convincing the world he didn't exist, Jobs' greatest trick is convincing the world he makes more powerful products than anybody else, before anybody else.

Whenever something happens to Apple that's good, everyone also turns to how bad Apple is. Whenever something happens to Apple that's bad, everyone goes crazy about how bad Apple is.

No matter what Apple does, there will always be people that oppose how they do things.

So when will all the hippy lib types that fawn over their iDols start the backlash against the new evil giant corporation that is Apple.

BY the way...Rush Limbaugh is a HUGE Apple fan boy...since way before is was popular to be an apple fanboi...

Replace Apple with any company. It's the same with anyone.

Microsoft screwed over their customers when they shutdown MSN music.

MS screwed over their customers and partners when they abandoned Plays for Sure for Zune.

They've been screwing over their Windows gaming customers since they got into the console market.

No one will stab you in the back quicker then MS. No consumer who has the mental capacity to learn from history should buy into any new MS products.

I don't like Apple, but they deserve to beat MS.

Has anyone here actually used a Microsoft product in a corporate environment?

License for the OS
License for the server software
License for each user (or machine) connecting to the server
Terminal Server? Hell, throw on some more licenses!

License for OS.

Had to upgrade my OS from Vista Home 64-bit to Windows 7 Professional 64-bit.
