I have an expensive music hobby too! Last few months have spent over $2,300 on a new Mapex Professional 6 Piece, last year my father (the REAL music guy) spent over $200,000 in the last two years @ a music store. Now thats an expensive hobby.

edit;
$30k (I buy big and expensive)

WTF?! A $30,000 drumkit? How the!?! Some Neal Peart Paragon Cymbals only run like $2100.00 and a great kit for like $4000.00, wheres the other $12,000 go? Stuff your heads with dope or something to muffle the sound?!

Scotch, whiskey, Irish whisky... you get the idea. I'm also quite fond of port, books, music, and nice clothing. Thankfully, Costco and Nordstrom Rack alleviate three of the four, and concern for my liver restrains the first. I try to buy used CDs whenever I can.

Between paintball, gaming, car, home theater and books, its amazing I'm not broke. Actually, I'm in debt up to my eyeballs.

Wow. Why on earth would you do that?

Agreed, they make the ugliest crap on the planet. Even my wife, who likes to spend a lot of money, would never be seen with one of those piles of garbage.

I don't care how ugly or beautiful they are, I just can't wrap my mind around the concept of spending $1000 on purses over the course of 5 years, not to mention $10-15,000 on the damned things. Hell, spending even two or three hundred bucks on the stupid things in 5 years seems excessive. *shakes head*

Plus you could just buy something similar like it that doesn't cost as much. The same is not so true about computer stuff.

I wouldn't say Coach stuff is ugly - it's very conservative for the most part. It's also not all THAT expensive, considering that there are plenty of Prada nylon purses that cost much much more. As a man I don't give a crap about this kind of stuff, but most women think it's dumb to spend money on guns, liquor, and porn, so . . .

I don't but my wife does... she has about $10,000 worth of photography equipment.

But if she turns it into a career when we have kids, it'll be worth way more than that.

That's what sucks about being a guy (well, a straight guy)...I know I'll never be able to turn photography into a career, I wouldn't have a husband with a well paying office job to back me up :(

I was going to say that I knew a straight guy in the wedding/event/portrait business, but then I remembered that he's over a year behind on his orders and probably won't be around much longer. My mom is a photographer, high-end wedding/event/portrait, and her business makes money. She wouldn't be open if it didn't pay for itself and then some.

It takes a while to build a reputation, though.
