What?

Just read them.

I read them. Nothing particularly shocking in it. Yes, it's sexually explicit and quite specific. These are the types of things people write when "sexting." It's the entire point of it. Sexting is like phone sex but in writing over the internet. It looks like you're particularly shocked here because for some reason you had no idea that people actually write sexually explicit things to each other.

I was this article and read parts of the txts etc...and my first thought is "is this guy having an aneurism?" I mean is there something wrong with his brain? To go through the public humiliation of the last display, but then to turn around and do the same damn thing again, in the same way...it's almost like he's got something organically wrong with his brain.

I personally don't give two bits about what a politician does on his own time. And I don't know what kind of relationship he's worked out with his wife, but there are so many things about this that are so dumb it should be illegal. He should be kicked to the curb for general, flagrant, stupidity. We don't need more of them folks in congress.

So I've said my peace, now for part 2 --

PREDICTION FOR THE FUTURE:
When this happened the first time I called it. I said he would lay low for a while (I thought 2 years) and then slowly creep (yes creep) back into politics. I assumed he would start small in some local position, but no....he goes big. and he doesn't even give the last episode time to fully die down....AND HE'S STILL DOING THE SAME STUPID CRAP!

So now, here's what I bet will happen. First, hell apologize all over the world. He's blah blah about getting back with his wife etc. She will act like she's divorcing him, but in the end they will stay together. He will admit to some kind of sex addiction and go into some type of facility. He'll drop out of view for another year and then pop back up again. This guy can't hold a real job. I'm not sure what he would do if he could be a politician.

ugh, why do people even talk to this guy? I would love to hear his next conversation with john Stewart. They were friends once...

Lol, my god. I get it, and have done it. But I was single and in my twenties when I did it.

I wasn't a married father who resigned once over this, continued doing it, and is now trying to be mayor of arguably the most important city in the world.

Good grief. "You must be some kind of prude" is basically your response to me? Get out of my face with that garbage.

Also, I wasn't as disgustingly graphic as Weiner was. Guy must watch a lot of hardcore porn, and evidently has a preference for "choking girls on his c**k."

How romantic.

Maybe if he was merely serving the lobbyists or special interest groups or defrauding the American people in general I could see about keeping him in government. Having an affair though?

Not ok.

This guy is a sex obsessed psychopath.

Did you guys read the actual messages he sent with this girl?

Man... MAN. I am REALLY curious about the dynamics of his marriage with Huma. She must be INCREDIBLY SUBMISSIVE.
OR she is a crazy freak swinger bi girl.

WTF is wrong with our society when garbage like that still runs for office, and even worse, gets elected? He shouldn't be entrusted with anything more than flipping burgers - and even that's a stretch.

Washington DC proved democrats will elect anyone with a D behind his name, regardless of his actions.

Unfortunately, there are plenty of examples of the same kind of crap on the other side of the isle (Sanford anyone?).

For me, if someone has displayed such terrible judgement, they have no business holding a position of power in government (or anywhere else for that matter). It's bad enough he did it the first time and got busted. That was plenty of evidence of lack of judgement. Then he continues to do it again after getting busted... that shows not only lack of character and judgement, it shows lack of control and remorse. He's complete scum that should not be anywhere near any position of power.

The thread title seems to claim that Weiner has dropped out?

I can't find where he has dropped out. It looks to me like he's still in the NYC Mayor race.

If he dropped out, can somebody link it pls?

No, I understand why what he did was wrong. I said earlier in the thread he should be out of politics. What I find perplexing is that you keep asking people to read the actual comments. Before I read them, I understood from media accounts that it was "sexting," which to me implied exactly what the messages turned out to be. I thought there would be something particularly offensive because you kept linking it, but it's just your typical "I want to f*** you" stuff. Yes, he was wrong to do it because he's married and in politics, but the content of the messages doesn't change that assessment in either direction.

No. Content matters. The content is extremely creepy, especially when you take into account all factors. Girl is less than half his age too, she's 22 he's 48. So much to be creeped out by. This guy needs to go away.

I kind of think there should be a price to pay for being a pile of horse shit. I think that trying to return to public life after shaming his family like he did marks him as a man of a man with a profoundly sick case of hubris and a rejection of any sense that doing wrong has consequence. I wouldn't vote for that failed human being and arrogant fuck if he were the last person on earth. He's a profound insult to the Democratic Party and should never have its support.
Never say never. For every Wiener, there is a Santorum.

Shocked also that the wife wants to stick around and raise the daughter with him. The daughter is going to find out everything her dad did.

Anyone else remember the temper tantrums he threw with regularity when he was a member of the House? Veins and cords bulging in his neck while he ranted and raved like an insane person. This guy has truly got some serious problems. Therapy, psychoanalysis, mucho meds, maybe a straightjacket are in his future. Let's hope he doesn't go off the deep end and decide to take others with him. He's a scary dude.

This isn't news. He can run if he wants. The voters will decide. When you think of politics and morals, well, no such animal.
What's the moral difference between cutting assistance to the poor, and sexting your junk?
None really.
Let him run. Let the voters decide.
And btw, so far he is top in the polls.
So this isn't news beyond the talking head tv media.
I'm mean really... When the pope is diddling little boys, can anyone claim morality superiority?
Politics and morals me think not.
You have to be pretty much a creep in the first place to even seek such fame.
The voters will decide. And most likely he will win.

As a Democratic voter I do not want this creep working his way up the ladder. He is a career politician, I believe he has further political ambitions. Needs to be shunned from the party.
