Modern morals. Modern when......now? the 50's? The 60's? Modern morals change faster than the weather in Northern California. That's a hell of a thing to be letting guide your life....but that's just me.

I believe the term you may have been searching for was secular humanism and you still have a figurehead....the only difference is it sits glowing in your living room.

so in a decade of time you've had.......you've yet to read the book for which all your "beliefs" are derived from??? Does that seem unreasonable to anyone else or is it just me?

Going to church and listening to scripture being read from the bible is where I get my beliefs. I should sit down and start reading it completely through though. Now days everyone tries to prove how Jesus was a magician type of person. No one can grasp the fact that miracles happen everyday.

Morals change every day.. how the hell can a book and a set of ideas that are so old be in a persons best intrest in these modern times.
the ideas of living set by these so called religions are nothing but ancient relics of a long forgotten society and way of life..

I'm sorry but I'm not going to not drink have sex or eat meat on certain days because some brainwashed idiot years ago wrote it in a book...

Live your life and enjoy what it offers.
you are mearly robbing yourself of pleasure and experinces that after your dead and buried wont be replaced by some mystical afterlife that frail human minds must rely on to give weaker minds peace of mind and purpose.

Agreed. He should respect her by dumping her ass and finding a girl whose belief system isn't fundamentally challenged by a Keanu Reeves movie.

Yes and sin also starts in your thoughts and if you aren't prepared to try to reign then in, then don't bother with all the pretense. My wife and I made it to marriage as virgins. And, hell yes, I had to keep lustful thoughts out of my mind. I found the easiest way was to not let them get there in the first place. I was engaged to a woman I loved and there are infinite beauties and wonders within her and I spent our dating relationship and engagement basking in them. As cheesy as it sounds, we shared thoughts and feelings and even uncovered some conflicts and flaws within ourselves that we worked out before marriage.

In the Bible, Joseph RAN from Bathsheba. Like you he knew sin was inevitable. But he didn't go, meh, and give in. He ran, probably not from her, but from the thoughts about to stir inside him.

lol... ok so let me get this straight.... you bought a car without test driving it or any other cars in the entire world?
and by choice no less?

So how do you know you bought the right car?

you have no other knowledge to compare it to...

wow... just wow...
another day I'm glad to say 7 years of Catholic school did nothing to me except turn me agaisnt the oppressions and silly beliefs of religions around the world...

*shrug*

Maybe I just don't understand how sex with someone you love can be bad sex. Maybe I think since you'll spend 97% of your time together not engaging in sex that you'd be better served to make sure that 97% will be pleasurable.

I agree, when you really love somebody, there is no such thing as bad sex per se... and intimacy comes on all levels not just the act itself.

Well being that youve never been with anyone else how do you know what bad sex is?
you could be having bad sex every night and just not know it.. you never test drove anything else so you have no basis for comparison...

sorry but no chemistry in the bedroom is grounds for banning in a relationship..
and being blind to what good and bad sex really is by reason of abstinace means you cannot offer an informed oppinion..

sorry hero but you cannot contribute meaningfully in any sex based argument becasue you are as pretty much sheilded as a virgin to the subject.

Val you and I both know if the girl suddenly had this "revelation" after having sex with the OP she was trying to say....

Staying with a person and the sex being bad is totally retarded. I do believe the reason is because of religion. I admit it is strange her thinking this and not being a virgin but she has also been wanting to get back into church.

I don't understand how watching a movie about exorcism translates into no sex?

I thought i was the only one that did not put the two together.

Good for her that she can be so strong (i am not). She could have asked how you feel first, but, if you love her, then stay.

BUT, how long are you going to wait to get married, and did you say how old you both are yet???

I honestly don't know how it does either. I plan on sitting down tonight and try talking to her about it.

shut up you're a fake ass follower of your religion. I'm sure premarrital sex isnt the only transgression you partake in on a regular basis. You are one of those I'm religious when its convienient types.

I admit I haven't been the best at being a strong christian but no one can be sinless. I'm not one of those people that judge people that don't believe. I just don't understand why people always poke fun at what other people believe.

Like I said before, I love sex just as much as the other guy. Its freakin natural. I know what is right and wrong but no ones perfect. Do I hope this hold out on sex thing lasts???? Honestly....no.

If you're true to your faith, you'll know the answer to your own questions. But, I'll say this:

Open up your eyes and your ears.
Sit down and talk with your GF.
Wait till she's comfortable with you as a partner.
Buy a used fleshlight.
Wait.
Continue to use teh fleshlight.
Win.

True words of wisdom.

Isn't abstaining kind of pointless since you've both already had sex? You can't put the genie back in the bottle you know.

I feel bad for you religious people with your crazy rules and regulations. It seems to me that all these religious rules having to do with sex were just pratical pratical solutions to societal problems rather than deep religous paths to God. Abstaining from sex before marriage was just a way to prevent out of wedlock births which were problematic because of the possibilty of losing out on paternal support for the child and mother.

And doesn't the Bible say that marriage is second best to living like a monk in the desert contemplating God while abstaining from sex permanently?

Quite honestly i fail to see how the moral law set forth in the bible is irellevent today. I persionally believe that the moral laws still apply today, and i also believe that one of the main reasons people say that the bible is no longer relivant is because of the increasingly liberal attitudes that popular culture take with regards to specific topics, for example the morality of sex before marriage. As culture views such topics with a more liberal perspective but the christian perspective remains the same a divide grows between the two groups, and the response of popular culture is to call the christian community old-fashoned and irrellivent. Granted this is my persional opinion on this matter, but i do think it reprisents the way things are to a fair extent.

To answer the OP, if you and your GF have different ideas about sex then i think that there is potential for serious problems, simply because it puts some pressure on the person who doesn't want to have sex. In this case your GF could possibly feel like she may need to give you sex in order to keep you around if you still want sex, and ultimately she may decide that not having sex is more important to her than staying with you (granted this is a worst case assumption). On the other hand she may decide that she is fine with having sex and things can go back to the way they were. I don't know nearly enough about you and your GF to even begin to guess what will happen if you aren't on the same page.
My suggestion would be to simply sit down with her and talk things through and make sure that the two of you are on the same page, whatever you decide.

Dude, seriously, explain to me (in very vague details please) how sex can be bad.

i am thinking he is saying... the woman just lays there, not really doing anything. there is no excitement, noises, being timid, unaware of how things work?!
