Morals change. People have been the same and will continue to be the same forever. The plays of the ancient Greeks are just as powerful now as they were then because they are about the human condition.
Live your life and enjoy what it offers.
you are mearly robbing yourself of pleasure and experinces that after your dead and buried wont be replaced by some mystical afterlife that frail human minds must rely on to give weaker minds peace of mind and purpose.

How many STDs do you have?

Never had even 1... you know just becasue your false prophet says everyone that has sex is dirty pond scum doesnt make it true..

lol @ the single partner virgin... man I better not ever see you posting in a sex thread cause I'll have this thread bookmarked..

only us Dirty sinners can talk about sex...

enjoy your lifetime contimplating if you truely are having bad sex and dont know it...

Why have you never had one?
50% of all sexual active Ameicans will have at least one

Link doesn't go to Levicus or anything. ;)

I dunno casue all my partners Ive known for long periods of time and I was educated properly by schools and the Navy on how to avoid them?
not really that hard to practice safe sex man...

[/quote]

If you've known all your partners for a long time, then that leaves you with a pretty small pool of sexual partners, I dare say. Why are you robbing yourself of pleasure and experinces? How do you know any of these girls are really good or not.......you need to ramp up your number of partners, homeboy.

Hold the phone...!

you can have alot of sexual partners AND practice safe sex and NOT GET ANY STDS... I am proof of that..

It is called educating yourself on the subject, and being smart, knowing what to look for with your partner... and doing what it takes to protect yourself... regular testing and so forth.

Someone who wants to be perceived as smart by ridiculing those who possess faith.

Fixed.

There are plenty of geniuses who are religeous.....ponder that for a second.

Stupid geniuses. Just working out how gravity works doesn't mean you aren't an idiot, it just means you discovered how gravity works. Intelligence by itself does not make a person smart over all.

Wait... this sounds familiar. I think I have heard this argument before. Live by what modern society says is right. Live your life and enjoy what it offers.

oh, now i remember. It was in Mein Kampf. It can be dangerous to say that morals change every day. What ends up happening is that the majority decides what is "morally" right.

except that this book is centuries old and has never been modified so its old world ways have never been updated and the mindless scared sheep of the world keep following the rules under fear of not having 40 naked virgins or a cloud kingdom when they finally fvck up and die..

Once again, why do you say that the moral law set forth in the bible is "Old world" and no longer relivent to society today?

My point had nothing to do with any religion in particular. I was responding to CVSiN's argument that modern society determines what is right. If you can't see the dangers inherent in that POV then you really ought to think about it further. I don't judge people by what they say they believe, but by their actions. I respect the fact that CVSiN believes what he says; you can tell by his actions described in this thread that he is consistent. All I am saying is that it is dangerous to say that something is ok because it feels good or because a lot of other people think it is OK. I could have referenced Saddam Hussein, Dutch Slave Traders or the Chinese Communist Party; all of whom believe it is ok to do things that most of us think are wrong (ethnic cleansing, slavery, regulated procreation/torturing people with religious beliefs, censorship). I hope this clarifies my "pathetic" argument. I can always agree to disagree.

what about the silly idea that we are supposed to remain with 1 person our entire lives... nice thought but doesnt work in reality...

times have changed... sure there are some good things in there like thu shalt not kill.. but what about that asshat that breaks into your home and tries to inflict harm on you and your family.. it should read.. thou shalt not kill except for.. criminals.. in times of war.. etc etc..

thou shalt not steal.. heh.. big business in this and many other countries is nothing but lieing cheating and stealing to get ahead...

Modern morals. Modern when......now? the 50's? The 60's? Modern morals change faster than the weather in Northern California. That's a hell of a thing to be letting guide your life....but that's just me.

I believe the term you may have been searching for was secular humanism and you still have a figurehead....the only difference is it sits glowing in your living room.

Yeah, cause living your life and having sex automatically means you're stupid and have not heard of safe sex or are too retarded to take caution

Well, if that is her choice, you have to honor it. It's her body. But, you can make your own evalulation, and then decide if you want to continue with the relationship once she changed it.

So you think you should still only have sex to have children? the bible says that.. it says masturbation is evil yet modern medicine say masturbation and sex are mandatory for a healthy life..

I have seen absoloutely nothing in the bible whatsoever that says sex is only for making babies, just that it should be limited to marriage, so how does your theory make the bible irrelevant?

what about unpure thoughts? hell as a male Id bet to say 1/3 the thoughts per day are unpure..
Ok, how much of this comes from the fact that guys are inherently visual (which is true), vs how much comes from the fact that our culture has turned women into sex objects? Oh, and this still doesn't address how the bible is irrelevant.

what about all these violent movies and other works of modern expresssion
we all know the church and the bible are very much agaisnt them...
Yes, this is an example of how more liberal ideas about specific things are conflicting with christian ideas, but this doesn't explain why the bible is irrelevent.

what about these silly rituals like lent and passover where you are restricted to what you can eat.. Are you fvcking kidding me?
who the hell needs to alter thier diets for some silly book becasue it says so...
*MORAL* law, not cerimonial law. Jesus abolished the old cerimonial law when he died and was ressurected, but not the moral law.

what about drugs and alcohol... todays lifestyle embraces all of them...
and that can include legal and illegal drugs.. the bible and the church frown heavily on them..
I don't know about legal drugs, i've never found anything the the bible that says those are bad. As for the illegal drugs thing, yes, this is another example of how modern culture disagrees with christian attitudes, but once again, how doe the fact that this difference exists make the bible irrelevent? As for alcohol, Jesus turned water into wine, which is alcoholic, the bible doesn't say alcohol is bad, just that being drunk is bad.

what about the silly idea that we are supposed to remain with 1 person our entire lives... nice thought but doesnt work in reality...
Doesn't work for you, but i know other people that this has worked for, so how do you know this doesn't work in reality?

times have changed... sure there are some good things in there like thu shalt not kill.. but what about that asshat that breaks into your home and tries to inflict harm on you and your family.. it should read.. thou shalt not kill except for.. criminals.. in times of war.. etc etc..
Exodus 20:13: You Shal not murder
Possibly an argument of symantics, but murder is not exactly the same as killing. I don't claim to know how exactly God would define murder, but I do know that there are examples in the bible where God helped people kill other people (David and Goliath), so it would seem that it's possible to kill somebody without murdering them.

thou shalt not steal.. heh.. big business in this and many other countries is nothing but lieing cheating and stealing to get ahead...

nice in practice but doesnt hold up...
And yet another example of something that is accepted, but doesn't say why this makes the bible irrelevant.

you know there are so many so called holy people that are being tried and convicted of these types of offenses that who the hell can hold a straight face anymore at the mear mention of american religious values..

this country and many others are flat out religious hypocrites... they say 1 thing and do another all under the flag of religion until they get caught.
Yes, i will agree with you that christians are not perfect (I know i'm not perfect), and some that claim to be christians royally screw up or are hypocrites, however I can't see how the fact that people choose to go their own way and not even try to follow God's laws while claiming to do so makes the bible irrelevant.
If a cop goes out and breaks every law while claiming to be the enforcer of the law does that make the laws he breaks irrelevant? No, it just means that the cop is messed up.

I know exactly what you mean. I got out of bed today. Magic, I think not. Def a miracle.

This thread reminds me of the "Born again virgin" episode from King of the Hill:)

You might explain to your GF that short of a time machine, there ain't no going back.
Don't think it would have made any difference if Eve changed her mind and puked up the apple:eek:

What you fail to grasp is that just because unexplainable and unlikely things happen every day, that does not mean they are miracles. That is specious reasoning. You try to explain why you are religious with justifications like miracles, near-death experiences, etc., when the fact is that you would be religious anyway. Religious people just need to buckle down and say "I can't explain it, I can't prove it, there is no evidence for it, but I believe it anyway", instead of trying to justify their beliefs with bvllshit.
