LOL, of course - Gandhi would never go against what he's preaching at the same time.

Not you, specifically. Somebody did here, and I quoted him already.

This thread is a hilarious discussion of Catalyst 12.11... it's hopeless. I'll just let you guys get this thread locked, but of course it cannot be locked with the last ON-topic subject regarding BF3's questionable AA performance... there needs to be a better closure.

In fact, I'll leave this hopeless thread now and let you guys bash us with 10 more OFF-topic messages from 10 different ranting members. Just don't expect me to reply here on this hormone-dominated thread any longer. Nothing you say can provoke me to come back here again.
Well might I suggest you go to ABT where you will have a real discussion among the very few of you there?

It's better to leave this shill infested site, right?

Don't let the internet hit you on the way out.....

Once you go on a witch hunt you lose all respect from me. If you have concrete proof, post it if not STFU and sit down.

The problem is that everyone on ABT thinks they are the victims. They come here, post some ridiculous shit, get called out on it and slapped by the mods, and go back to ABT for consolation as if they did nothing to provoke people. Stop playing the victim card, you want to have a discussion? We can do that like we always have done but don't drag us into this cross forum "crusade" you guys are on and keep it civil.

I'm going to quote a sentiment I've seen a number of times here:

If [Apoppin] has real evidence of shills or whatever he should just publish it or shut up about it, pick one. Can you imagine Anand posting in forums muttering about how he knows about shills, has proof, but won't disclose such info?
I can't take Apoppin or the rest of ABT seriously until they do either approach.

Anyways, MSAA in Frostbite 2.0 is working perfectly in MOH:W for me. I haven't tested it in BF3 because I'm trying to maintain 120fps.

The funny thing is how appooppin thinks he's unbiased but in his own social media article he doesn't say anything about posters like Keysplayer, nor does he devote ANY space to detailing NV's past trangressions which were confirmed. Kyle may have dubious manners but even he doesn't go on wacko rants using, what, a PM by Idontcare? Relying on hearsay? Tsk tsk. At minimum you need to get IDC to talk, not just cite to a public forum post.

The burden of proof is on him to prove, not for others to disprove, that they are shills. Instead, he seeks to shove the burden onto others to "prove" that they are NOT AMD shills. How does one prove a negative? Oh that's right, you can't prove a negative. Innocent until proven guilty, in the hands of appoppin, turns into guilty until proven innocent. Very McCarthy-esque witch-hunting mentality.

Using appoppin's own standards, how do we know there are NOT NV employees posting on here (other than hangers-on like Keys). How do we know if someone gives advice that they are not NV shills? What, so NV's denial is good enough but AMD's is not? See how that works (or more accurately, does NOT work)?

Using apoppin's standards, how do we know IDC is not a shill and that he was not paid to stir up FUD? After all, you and your buds incessantly call out ViRGE, so why not IDC? Hell why don't you accuse all ATF mods of being on AMD payroll? (That'd be impressive considering AMD's financial situation is like... oh but wait, let me guess, AMD's financial situation is that dire only because they hired like 10,000 shills to shill at ATF, right? It has nothing to do with Intel kicking their ass?)

Using apoppin's own standards, how do we know that apoppin himself was not compensated by NV to write hit pieces and raise FUD about AMD? Show us YOUR credentials, apoppin, we want you to prove a negative. PROVE to us you are not an NV shill. You can start by giving us your bank account and credit card numbers so we can verify you didn't receive payments by NV through them. Oh but wait we also need the keys to your home and car and everywhere else to search for those gold coins NV paid you with below the table. We also need to talk to all of your family and friends to see if they received payment on your behalf or not. And to burn down your garage in case you buried your NV-sponsored loot under it. Lol. See? It never ends...

In sum, wise people decided on "innocent until proven guilty" and we should be grateful aoppopin didn't draft the US Constitution. And for the record I don't think there are very many employees or shills or people who receive compensation from a tech company on here, other than the obvious ones like the self-identified Intel employees and NV representatives like Keysplayer. A few others are pretty notorious like piesquared, but those are easy to spot because they are so rabid. I believe that the vast, vast, vast, vast, vast majority of posters are not shills. Not even apoppin. There may be a higher percentage here who are shareholders or have some other financial stake, and some of them may be trying to manipulate stock prices (yeah good luck with that here, why don't you try Yahoo Finance instead?), but even then you can basically skip the posts that go into financials and just read the posts that talk about product performance, etc.

P.S. 12.11beta still unstable for me over long enough periods of time. I'll wait for the next driver revision.

Msaa is bad in bf3 on ultra settings. It throes off lighting and makes indoor areas extremely foggy and hazey.

AMD fans have ruined their own thread.

Maybe seperating the video cards into their own forums would prevent this in the future.

This level of circlejerking is beyond other forums.

So is there a 12.11 driver for laptops?

The 12.11 beta should install just fine on laptops with Mobility Radeons. Just be sure the laptop supports non-OEM drivers (I know Toshiba doesn't)

My friend has an HP Llano laptop and I've been able to install drivers straight from AMD onto it before, so you should be good.

Msaa also tanks your fps anyways.

I kill msaa with my 7850 and with my 1440x900 resolution,i never dip under 60fps with ultra and post aa on high which i love and if i enable 4x msaa, some maps can drop well into the 40s if crap gets deep.

Game looks good enough without msaa on my monitor that i can go without it and get excellent fps.

Another gem from Appopin:
Ask Virge why. Not Keys.

Keys and i were both mods .. before VC&G became a forum for advertising AMD HW and harboring their stealth shills
-- we would never pull this insane BS that Virge is pulling
And my personal favorite from BallaTheHutt:
I rarely talk about my 470s.

And squeezing less and less out of HD 6990 - see below:

Now, the W1zzard from TPU is ditching HD 6990 altogether while still including GTX 590 in new Cat.12.11 Performance Analysis review. Other 6xxx cards are still reviewed, except for HD 6990. As we can see in the last review that included the 6990, there were just too many CF issues with the card: http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/ASUS/HD_7970_Matrix/26.html

Now, the 6990 is a forgotten thing. It used to actually beat GTX 590 overall, but with the newer games, did AMD ditch the owners of 6990's who paid handsomely for the card? The 6990 couldn't scale in Arkham City, BF3, and scores 13.6 fps in Starcraft 2? And that was 3 months ago with Cat 12.7 drivers. Meanwhile, GTX 590 had ZERO issues, and actually scaled much better than the 6990 in most of the other games.

Do you guys expect it to be any better for the 6990 with Cat 12.11 "Never Settle" drivers?

I think W1zzard was very kind in ditching the 6990 from the 12.11 review, just as AMD has ditched it months ago.

If it were Apoppin, he would've shown the 6990 in a better light for sure, with his vast gaming suite, and yet still received far more flak for it than W1zzard showing it to lose badly in the overall performance chart vs the 590. If he really hated AMD, Apoppin would've gone through all the trouble just to point this out with his own 6990.

Just be grateful that Apoppin didn't really try to bury AMD when he had many chances (and he still has the chance to do it with the "Never Settle" driver). :colbert:

Now, can we be friends? Can you recommend to AMD's partners to send him high-end Radeon cards for review again? He's likely to do a better job than the W1zzard, for sure (like always).

Correct my math if I'm wrong but the 6990 is 50% faster than the 6970 overall while the 590 is 43% faster than the 580 in the Matrix review.

The 12.11 drivers are purely an optimization for the GCN arch. Northern Islands is pretty much tapped out for improvements. The overall improvement between release and EOL wasn't that great. IIRC, it was only about 5%.

As far as apoppin goes, he made his own bed. It's nobody Else's fault and nothing that anyone else can fix for him. This forum, and the members of it, had nothing to do with AMD dissolving their partnership with ABT.

Why are you trolling W1zzard?

Why do you think that would stop people from trolling? This is an AMD driver thread and we have all kinds of rhetoric from people who don't have AMD cards. If you separate the forums it won't stop that. You'll have people posting crap about cards they don't own then as well.

Do you have a laptop that has a 7900 card in it?

We really shouldn't drag quotes from the ABT forums in here, no matter how immature they are. It's unbecoming of us. Let's remain on the topic at hand.

What? Ocre, Keys, Balla, Botox, Siberian etc are AMD fans????

Anyway

Any non-Radeon user that feels the need to come here to paint this driver release as a bad one is just trolling. If you're a Nvidia user and wants to ask questions, know more or contribute to this conversation you're more than welcome.
This thread only became AMD vs Nvidia because of a few posters that think the 12.11 release will damage something very close to their chests. I really don't find any other explanation for it.
Back on topic, i saw considerable improvements in BF3 too, temps remained the same. Gotta test a couple more games to see what changed.

I started to notice a slight stutter, at least last night. I will have to investigate if it is due to the driver or perhaps the scene. I finished my Serpent dailies and was greeted with a cutscene of being married to my chinese dragon when I noticed something like micro-stuttering. It was feint, but noticeable if I starred.

It reminded me of the initial Diablo 3 stutter issue. Could have been server lag, was kind of tired and just finished the dailies so I didn't bother to test it further.

Will follow-up on it tonight.

Bloody hell. I think I just went through hurricane Offtopic.

I must say, those new drivers do look mighty fine, especially combined with the free games! It is nice that AMD is working to improve GCN's efficiency. :p

Do Anantech forums ever "clean" a forum to remove off-topic etc. posts that are not related to the subject at hand? I could see keeping some of the interesting arguments between different forum members, but it seems to distract from the ability to visit the thread and get information about the original post?
