Anyone have issues with mining with 14.9? I updated to these, but now my darkcoin miner is giving weird issues, including 1 BSOD, a bunch of rejected shares according to pool's dashboard, and sph miner having issues finding work. I am running kernel x11mod, mining darkcoin.

I haven't tried them mining but I do know I had to unzip the miner programs and configure them from scratch on one or two driver updates.

I also had to uninstall before installing, but that may have been since my PC hadn't been restarted in a long time.

Just installed them over my 14.7 Beta without even uninstalling and it worked fine.
HD7950 on Win 8.1 Pro 64bit, kept my OC and the rest of the settings as well.

If you have windows 8 you would want to use version 1.400 as the version 1.2 will delete necessary registry keys and ruin your windows install if running 8.

Wow... so much for ppl happily executing forum links.

I ran 1.4v halfway, and it looks same as Cata Manager's "Uninstall All" option.
From all this I conclude that this utility is dangerous at worst, redundant at best, and hence no longer supported by AMD.

BTW my 14.8 that doesn't want to go away is guru3d's 14.8 "WHQL".
I.e. someone from G3D simply taking an official AMD APU driver suite and adding WHQL tag to that same driver suite -
- a driver suite that did not even make into an official Beta magically becomes "AMD Catalyst 14.8 WHQL"

And I was just moaning about drivers, yesterday.

Nice list, good stuff, looks very nice for R9 290 owners. I updated from 14.4's without a hitch.

Just installed over the 14.4's, no uninstall just ran the 14.9 package and installed over the 14.4's. This is standard for me unless i'm using a beta version (I uninstall those prior to updating).

Worked for me just fine. I don't think it is supported by AMD anymore but AMD's method is to just uninstall in programs and features which did not do much. If the Clean uninstaller 1.4 doesn't work then you have to use DDU.

Thx, I'm good. Actually, two reboots is all it took.

For me, once installed Cata works fine, but the installations itself are not uneventful like NV.

I was able to simply just run the setup, and it worked. One of my pet peeves is that I can't simply extract the driver package with 7zip or winrar, like you can with nvidia drivers. You have to actually run the self extracting thing.

Is the driver package even meant to run like that? I don't think so.

You should check "C:\AMD"

That isn't possible, unless they have a stolen cert from AMD.

That is why WHQL drivers are signed, so that nobody can tamper with them.

They could change the string to read WHQL, but they can't actually make them WHQL.

Taking official APU driver suite (WHQL) and renaming it to "AMD Catalyst 14.8 WHQL" is quite possible OTOH.
That's what they did anyway.

Anyone try Watch_Dogs with 14.9? It seems way smoother and stutters significantly less. I'm still getting below 60fps when driving around Chicago like a mad man, but it was the stuttering and hitching that killed the game for me. Now it seems far smoother.

I saw 3-5% performance boost in 3dmark scores as well.

Got the black screen bug first time cold-booting the desktop today, but it's whatever it only takes 10 seconds to reboot. I'm very happy with 14.9 overall

I'm getting huge amounts of artifacts in BF4 mantle with these drivers on a previously stable overclock.

I didn't try reducing clocks to see if it changes anything yet.

I'm having issues with these drivers as well.

Uninstalled 14.7 rc3 it gave me a "warning" on the uninstall. Used a cleaning program. Installed 14.9 and my PC would hard freeze after 20 secs. Uninstalled/cleaned/reinstalled. Same hard freeze. I turned off "Load Startup Programs" under "msconfig" and it boots fine.

I can't run any games however. I get a hard freeze with anything I try to load.

Installing them, machines runs fine but when going into the CCC to check the driver version, CCC crashes!

Archeage runs fantastic on these. Much better than 14.X RC or the OpenCL driver. The graphics don't quite looks as good though. They lack "pop" that the previous two had.

I'm getting very bad stutter on Tesla Effect and Only If with 290 crossfire and 14.9. Disable Crossfire and everything is smooth. Did clean install after using official cleaner. Any tips?

I know that back in the day the standard practice was to clean out old drivers first, but I honestly think that's unnecessary these days. All the people in this thread having issues are the ones trying to uninstall everything first 😛 I just downloaded them and installed them over the old ones. Worked perfectly.

Installed them right over the 14.7rc3s without any problems during the install. Rebooted and done.

Will be testing some games later, but AMD's drivers are usually pretty solid; I don't anticipate any issues.

I believe these two games run on the Unity engine... maybe it doesn't like Crossfire yet... will have to disable it when I play them. Tried other games like Tomb Raider and Crysis 3 and they look great.
