Names on applications can also get people into trouble--have you forgotten the recent studies that showed that people with black sounding names were much less likely to be hired than equally qualified people with "white" sounding names?

You'd better start looking through some family trees to locate the people who are alive today that have distant relatives who were actual slave owners if want justice on that basis.

Well super Thick Skull When I see more Black MEN in the US SENATE and CONGRESS. We can talk about the USA being Equal. I also want to see MORE ASIANS in the SENATE and CONGRESS and Native Americans as well. Untill that day the US is not equal so AA is needed.

How does slavery impact your daily life?

DON'T talk about economic conditions. Don't talk about college diversity. Don't talk about access to government positions. On another note, I won't tell you how Egyptian slavery impacts my daily life. I won't talk about how Nazi medical experiments impact my daily life. I won't talk about how gas chambers affect my daily life. I won't talk to you about how cattle cars affect my daily life. I won't talk about how yellow Stars of David affect my daily life. And I definitely won't talk about how the death of 6 million of my compatriots affects my daily life. Because it doesn't.

Whenever I think about those occurrences, it makes me PROUD to think that my people have come so far since then.

No you took my comment wrong. Im just saying that God did help the JEWs. End of story. Not comparing that event because it has had no direct impact on my life where as slavery has and still does.

How does slavery impact your daily life?

DON'T talk about economic conditions. Don't talk about college diversity. Don't talk about access to government positions. Talk about overseers, shantys, plantations, slave owners, the Middle Passage, and Jim Crow laws. Oh, and don't forget Sambo. If you can convince me that SLAVERY impacts your daily life, then I'll leave you alone.

Ok for starters every day I go to work and have no one to relate to on my job. Because there are so few black computer programmers.


Also look at this im the only back person on this thread says alot about how much Blacks are expossed to technology.

Earlier, you definitely stated that a name was the only thing necessary to reveal that someone is Jewish. It was then pointed out that Affirmative Racism programs are of such a nature that names are an absolute necessity. They can't send a job offer or an acceptance letter to someone they can't identify.

Yes, your point is understood, it is just irrelevant in the context of Affirmative Racism programs.

I never stated that was the "only thing necessary to reveal that someone is Jewish" although I'm sure that's what you'd like to believe. It was merely one example of how such a scenario would play out. And no, it is not irrelevant in terms of AA programs. Names on applications can also get people into trouble--have you forgotten the recent studies that showed that people with black sounding names were much less likely to be hired than equally qualified people with "white" sounding names?

By the way, stop putting things in people's mouth; it's a poor way to argue your point.

Meaning: "When you tell me your name, I will know whether you are Jewish or not."

Correct?

Had you stated, "I don't know you're a jew until you tell me your name and your skin color" my logical conclusion regarding the amount of information you claim to need wouldn't be satisfied.

You're really stretching what I said to make your point, and at the same time ignoring what I said. Let me give you a concrete example so you can understand: I knew this guy back in highschool who was Cuban-American, but you would swear he was a white kid from Oregon if you didn't know his name. He went to visit his uncle in South Carolina. He was talking to some local guys who were really friendly, hanging around and what not. One of them asked where he's from. He said he was born in Cuba but grew up in South Florida. They were shocked that he wasn't white, asked if he was a "ref" and how long ago did he come over on the "boat"-- their attitude towards him changed immediately. It was as if he was no longer good enough to be around them. When he came back down from S. Carolina, he told my friends and I about it, and we all got a good laugh out of it, especially since in South Florida, you don't get that kind of racism if you're Cuban. You see, he could have hidden a certain characteristic. Replace his situation with a dark skinned person, and you get a different outcome since you CAN NOT hide your skin color.

I've never seen a black slave. I've never seen a death camp.
