Just a thought, maybe it is the chip. There is a possibility that you have reached the wall with it. What voltage are you running?

Viz, the different is that the "new" C1 stepping of NorthBridge is better able to hold the high FSB.
For some it helps to raise the Vdd for the NB, but I dont know if A7N8X have this setting.
If it does, then many people says it helps them reach high FSB..

Basically, the MOD moste people do, raise the Vdd of the chipset..

Well overclocking is addictive huh! 175x12 is a very good oc but we can't be happy with that! I understand where you are coming from. I am close to buying a new chip at the hope to get more out of it. We need counseling! :)

Mofunk - I tried both my 2400+ and my 1700+ and hit the same exact wall - 12x 175 is the max.
I've tried it at all voltage settings.

I've tried 7x - 12x and can only go up to 175fsb stable.

I can get a higher fsb but I lose stability, that wastes more time than it gains.

I can run 11.5x 178 but after a short time I lose audio from my tv tuner card while system audio continues to run fine.

I can not run 12.5x 175, same stability issues.

I know that the hacked bios on nforcehq allows a higher cpu, ram & vdd voltage to be set but I don't know if it would be worth it.

Smokeball, which one is the original bios? I tried overclocking with the bios that came with the board, but it was worse than now.

Hmmmm. Maybe the ram is the culprit. There has to be a way to get you to at least 180-185. This makes no sense. THe tv tuner should not be effected because of the pco lock.

This says
6)2.9V is now available in the DDR Reference Voltage selection choices.
what are you running at now? This could be part of the problem. I always have to run my ram at 2.9 when overclocking this high.

Here are the Uber 1003 BIOS's for Asus A7N8X series mobo's 1.04 to 1.06 only. Not for use on revision 2.0!

Be careful. ;)

Ok, flashed successfully.

2.8v was the old limit on the ram, 2.9 is the new limit.

I have it running conservatively right now just to make sure I don't screw over my OS again ;)

11.5X 177 and holding :D

I'm planning on moving up 1mhz at a time on the fsb until my tuner audio drops out or I see some other sign of instability

11.5x 178 seems good, moving up to 11.5x 179 next ;)

11.5x 178 gave me an audio cut out - going back down to 11.5x 177 now :(

Well that is the suck! What is the deal with that card? The PCI is supposed to be locked at 33 correct? There should be NO issue with that card at all.

I know, I don't get it! Maybe I'll start up a thread in OC about that card!

Wierd!

You haven't got spread spectrum enabled have you?

Btw the vddq voltage in the bios I thought that was only for thr AGP port? but from what some people are saying it also affects the voltage to the Northbridge too? ,is that right?

also affects the voltage to the Northbridge

That's what they say...

With all voltages maxxed I got basically the same as before. I can do 12x 175 - anything above 175fsb the audio from the tuner cuts out in anywhere from 0 - 30 minutes of playing.

I found that I got no other signs of instability at 180fsb while previously I got strangeness with the mousepointer and things like that.
Only the tuner cut out.

spread spectrum is off

Ok I don't want to steal this thread away, but since you guys are going for the same goal I am, I want to ask a question. I know that I should be happy as a clam, but I am a tweak and want to get faster WU's.......

Anyway my 8RDA+ with Tbred 1700 and 1x512 corsair is running 12x192@2305mhz 2-2-2-6. I plan on running dual, but was thinking of trying a different ram like the twinmos or the hyperx? I was very close today to buying a different cpu to see if I could get a little more out of it but put a stop to it. Am I being nuts? I would like to run dual but the other stick of crucial I have does not like this board so I am selling it. So should I just buy a matching stick of what I have or try my luck with twinmos or hyperx? You know you are an addicted overclocker when you can't be totally happy going from 1.47 to 2.3! :D:eek:

I think you are getting a very nice OC as it is, adding another identical stick will give you the dual ddr bump and beyond that you would probably have to mod your mobo IMHO ;)

i couldn't agree more on that last statement... you don't even wanna know how many cpu's i've been through..

let's just say that it's almost double digits now...

Wow this post count is getting big. Anyway just wanted to share with you guys that I just got in the mail, my BIOS savior! I am very excited. It was highly recommended to me by some people online and a friend that tweaks his stuff as much as I do. So now I can flash to the latest beta bios and never have to do my pre-flash voodoo dance!

I know what you mean, I'm always thinking things like "well I guess I could use one of the other machines around here if this one goes Tango Uniform"
