yeah, I have been told that it does lock it at 33mhz - but in my past overclocking experience something acting like this is usually heat related

The audio problem I am having is strange because system audio still works fine.
Only the line out from the TV2000XP card stops feeding to the line in of the sound system.
I have to keep it at 175 fsb now to keep audio out from the tuner & I like to listen to the news on my nifty Sennheiser wireless headphones ;).
I think I'll see if I can bump up to 12x175 (currently at 11.5x175).

well, 12 x 175 has been working fine for about 25 minutes now ;) (/me crosses digits, knocks on wooden objects & prays for stability)

heheheh... WTG soni ;) !!!!!!!!
Please keep us informed about the build & overclocking & WU times!

Gotta love these nforce2 mobo's - especially when you can get them half price from Newegg (mine was a Newegg "refurb")!

Well it will be a build of

8RDA+
2x512MB HyperX PC3000
1700+ JIUHB 0302
PAL 8045

So I expect at least 2GHz+

Aims for more, its running 1875@12.5x150 in my 8KHA+ at default voltage 42C right now..

Soni, that sounds like it will be real sweet!

I've got a couple pictures of my chipset cooling - here you go:

chipset1.jpg (about 300k)

chipset2.jpg (warning - this one is about 700k)

That fan in the bottom blows air across the chipset and some hits the ram too. I'm thinking about adding some ducting from the front of the machine to the back of that one.

The wires that look like they hang in front of the fan are actually out of the airflow, but 2D imaging has it's limitations (where is my 3D digital camera anyway?)

I put an oversize copper heatsink on the Southbridge, first checking to make sure it didn't touch any other componenets on the mobo.

I don't kow what's up with that bios 1003 but the temps sure read different after installing it.
I'm now running at 44C cpu & 20C mobo!!!

I'll see how it runs overnight at this setting and report the WU times afterwards.

WIZ,

I had this same board for a time ... it has been moved on to others now. It is a good board but it has some very specific twists to get the best OC out of it.

I found this forum to be the most instructive.

I seem to remember getting a better overclock by using one of the earlier BIOS versions. You might read through this forum and be sure to check out the other linked references mentioned throughout.

I meant to post this earlier but I couldn't remember where I saved the stuff. ;)

Looks good Wiz. I am modding a new case at the moment and will be putting a fan on the side to blow down between the ram and the north and southbridge I hope! Plus it is a HUGE dual width server tower. I will be putting the PS and HD's on the right side and the board on the left. So hopefully I get good airflow and cooling with all that open space. I got my RMA form for the ram so should be back in business soon!

Soni- That set up should get you no less than 2gigs. I have my 8RDA+ 1x512 corsair TBred 1700 JIUHB week7 and Alpha PAL8045 (with 92mm fan) running 185x12@2230mhz at the moment and still have some headroom I hope since I am at 1.6 volts. I have not done and tweaking to the ram though so we will see how that goes. I am adding a northbridge cooler and I bought a zalman northbridge HS to cut and attach to the mosfets. I am hopin to get to the 200FSB range. Right now I am doing WU's here

2003 Apr 06 04:58pm 15.826,8.1 0.434 WOOD-BDRM 2h24m
2003 Apr 06 04:58pm 23.654,21.32 0.409 WOOD-BDRM 2h27m
2003 Apr 06 12:03pm 23.767,21.32 0.409 WOOD-BDRM 2h28m
2003 Apr 06 09:29am 19.654,21.32 0.409 WOOD-BDRM 2h27m

And I have been running solid for 20hours now. So when I get my other stick I will see what happens by running in dualk channel and try and raise the FSB and attack the ram timings. Hope to get as close to 2 hr WU's as possible! Maybe even sub 2hrs!

Dual channel will shave about 5mins off WU times.
CAS 2-2-2 makes a much bigger difference over 3-3-3 than going to Dl Ch.

Once I get my nice stick of ram back from RMA I can play with that. Then I can sell the stick I have in here and buy a matching stick or the one I am sending to RMA and then run dual channel! So i can have the best of both.

Update - The internet connection issue I was having is in fact the modem! phew! I borrowed and external from work and it is working like a champ. I actually have a new modem on the way, it's a USrobotics and it is an internal hardware modem. Seems the little winmodem I had didn't cut it!

Update #2 - I am now running my system at 12x190@2290mhz with 1.65 volts. Full load is 47c. This make me quite happy! When I get my ram back from rma I am going to try and hit 200! We shall see how this 12x190 does seti! Muahahahahaha!

Not bad for a $60 AMD 1700XP! A friend of one of my co workers is feeling a little upset since he just spent a couple hundred on a XP2800.....hehehe

Shim, I run seti command client that feeds into a setiQueue that is on my network.
Then I look at the stats on the Q for the WU times.

You can also use Seti Driver and click the "Create Setilog.csv" box which will then keep your stats for each WU in a file.

thanks!

how accurate are the estimated times for completion?

after getting this new chip... my time has decreased from about 2:18 to less than 2:00 per WU

:)

wow, you need to get the Ars benchmark WU and run it - see if you can beat the times of some of the fastest there ;)

here it is

SWEET!!!!! That rocks man! What are your ram timings and what is your mult and fsb set at? 2 hour per WU kicks arse!

Thanks, still need to tweak with timings and stuff. Hoping to get as close to 2 hr WU's as I can!
