Now that I am not in a race, I am going to try this out. Think I will try with it in safe mode and booted regular. Just to see.

Obviosly AnandTech is behind the times, I've seen others use seti as a benchmark too.
Look around on hardware benchmarking type sites, it's out there.

Anyway, it's no big thrill to seti but I'm buying a matched pair of P2 333's w/512k cache from Corsairpro for $40 shipped and replacing an old pair of 233's (one of which has apparently died) on an old server of mine. It used to do 1 wu in 25 hours, now it should do better!
If that machine didn't do some vital work it wouldn't be worth the juice to run it, but since it still serves it's purpose I'll spend a few bucks on it and increase it's power.
It should actually be a pretty good bump over what it used to do.
The 233's ran their cache at half speed = 116.5mhz
The 333's cache will run at 166mhz = a 43% gain!

When I have the time I'm planning on trying out my tv tuner in different slots. I guess the plan is to find one that isn't shared with anything and see if that works.

I also bought a USB scanner that I simply can't get working. I got it working twice, scanned two pictures. Now it says "Unknown Device" when I plug it in and it won't install as a scanner :( :| I have no idea now how many hours I've burned trying to get it to work - it's infuriating.

Isn't it! I feel you man. My system was running PERFECT with the 8k3a and now with the 8rda, I have little issues here and there. But we are really "beta" testers you know!

Wiz, i have my TV Tuner in the 2nd PCI slot, and I've had no problems with it at all, all the way up to 210FSB (with mem running out of sync) and 185 with mem in sync :)

Right now it's in slot 2
Guess I can move it around and see if it makes any difference at all. I'll try slot 4 next ;)

I've just noticed, that purely by luck, my TV Tuner card is in slot 2, and my sound card (Audigy) is in slot 4! Guess I picked the right slots! :D

I wonder what the onboard items like sound, lan1 & lan2 use?
I could try shutting off some stuff that I don't use anyway and see if it makes a diff.

I would say if you do not use that stuff, to always disable. I have my com ports, and my printer port disabled as well. It is worth a shot to try.

Next step is moving the card.

This is not my rig and it's really starting to pi$$ me off! I do not understand why this card will cut out. If the PCI bus is truly being locked at 33mhz by your board then you should be able to run at 250 and not effect anything in the pci slots! You may want to search around and see if anyone else is having problems with that board saying it's locking the pci, but really isnt. Have you poked around a forum specific to that board?

I've looked around Asusboards & NforcerHQ forums and not found any info.

I have it in the 4th slot now, currently running 11.5x 177 to see how long it lasts.
If it doesn't cut out I'll go up to 178, then 179 etc...

I agree about the fact it should be locking the pci and maybe it is and it's some other problem.
One thing is I'm using the onboard sound and it might be the line in on the sound system that is failing instead of the card.
To determine this I would need to plug something else into the line in and see if that still works when the tuner cuts out.
When this happens all other tuner functions still work, just the audio is out.

So far it's holding at 11.5x 177 ;)

Do you have a sound card you can try to see if the sound craps out. Maybe it's the onboard chip?

well 11x 180 was restart city :(

Went down to 11x 179 - stability troubles

Now at 12 x 177 and it seems ok - this might be the most I can get, but at least it's the whole machine that bugs out and not just the tv tuner ;)

I'll update if it's stable after another hour or so.

I'll try 12x 178 but that might just be too much, so far 12x 177 is good ;)

12x 178 caused instability.
11.5x 178 seemed ok
12x 177 is also good

I'm going to stick with 12x 177 for a while and see how my seti WU time is at this speed. ;)

After a couple hours it rebooted itself while @ 12 x 177 so I moved it back to 11.5 x 177.

Gonna try 11.5 x 178 overnight, see how it is in the morning.
