2020 census to include citizenship question

An irrational fear of a question is their problem. What a strange world you must live in where answering a basic question is so concerning.

Two things:

1) no, it’s our problem. Remember, the ONLY purpose of the census is to get as accurate a count as possible. If people respond to questions irrationally it’s the job of the census to figure out how to mitigate that.

2) from my previous links it’s clearly not an irrational fear as census information has been used to target groups in the past.

Why are people so invested in clinging to this question? It was removed for a reason.

That's why the normal process is to field test changes.

Oh that's right, Trump administration skipped that step. Wonder why??

Rig the SCOTUS, rig the Census, rig the districts, rig the vote. Modern day Conservatism for you. Battle of ideas has been long lost, now it's about hijacking our democracy.

They don't want honest democracy, just the appearance of it. With trickle down, of course. Whatever other issues they take up are just to get the votes to enable the lootocracy.

My grandfather and great grandfather were both immigrants at a time when the question was on the census. I doubt they were able to answer it, not because of the question itself, but because the census was probably not in their native language.

Is it proper to assume that your grandfather and great grandfather, possibly immigrating prior to ~1950s-60s, did so at a time when there really were no immigration laws?

But I always do like going back to the, "well my grandfathers/ancestors had no problems with the laws!" argument. ...because there were no laws. It is the perfect FYGM! argument.

Well if you don't want to bother to enforce immigration laws then I guess you'd be OK with your political opposition not bothering to enforce laws which you like. Such as laws limiting the manner in which people can be deported. It's only fair that if they can illegally immigrate to the U.S. that they can be illegally deported as well.

I go back to my original desire to have a shitload of blue state progressive employers of illegals do some serious time in jail and maybe just let the illegals stay and be given the property of their employers. Hope the cheap housekeeping and nannies were worth it.

I'm sure there are people who agree with you- Erdogan, Orbanz, Duterte, even Putin for that matter.

Yeh, put it on the blue states-

I mean, what is with this irrational hatred of illegals?

Exactly that.

These GOP lemmings back a wannabe dictator with fascist tendencies and act patriotic about it no less. It's disgusting.

I read this thread title as "2020 Census to include Centipede question" lmao

I mean what if they are asking the 'pedes to identify themselves?

Wat

If someone's ancestors got in back then, odds are likely that they came from a predominantly white, European country. Africa, Asia? Them undesirables had quotas, some countries barred outright. The original racist shit that Dump regurgitated recently pretty much. We've had The Red Scare and The Yellow Peril. I guess this is The Orange Guy With Sand In His Eye?

Ah, so you honestly think that this is a blue state problem of employing illegal immigrants? LoL, you unconscionably daft idiot. 😀

What's amusing of course is that these evil blue staters exploiting those illegal immigrants are precisely the people fighting to give those illegal immigrants citizenship or a guest worker program so that this sort of exploitation ends. Oops, glenn.

As opposed to democrats rigging scotus? Win instead of whine, maybe?

Democrats never installed a SCOTUS Justice on the basis of a simple majority vote. They never treated a nominee as badly as the GOP treated Merrick Garland, either. It's shameful.

Pretty dumb to cite Georgia while ignoring New York and NJ having more. And as for California... lol if what glenn said came to pass half of Southern California would be in prison.

Not really a blue vs red issue, just an exploiters (YOUR ILK) vs everyone else issue.

I just pointed out that blue states aren't alone.

So, uhh, do you think they'll feel less exploited if they're deported, or what? Their American dependents?

I mean, wtf do you think? That Californians want ICE to start a Civil War in their communities so that people living in very white places can feel more secure? Texans? Floridians?

Get Real. If they're willing to declare peace on their neighbors, why can't you?

Your mock concern is amusing, it might even sound believable if only you’d stand for the rule of law and open borders instead of deliberately supporting policies designed to keep illegals in effective bondage. Hope that cheap nanny is worth the cost of your morality.

Maybe because there is precedence to the question being asked, and its a simple question to answer.

If he was deploying ICE to collect census data, I would understand people being upset.

We get it, in your world, black is white, up is down, and deplorable is presidential.

There is also precedence to the question being removed, why aren't you giving that any validity?

Keeping them illegal just depresses their wages, inhibits them from reporting crime or being a witness, as well.

Stops 'em from unionizing all the food processing plants, too.

Us? No nannies. No housekeepers. We're the gardeners. I think the roofers might have been illegals but that's unavoidable around here. I'm good with rather broad amnesty so that they won't live in fear.

They're certainly undeserving of the hatred you apparently have for them.
