BGR just posted an article a day or two ago about evidence that Verizon was NOT getting one...

ALL, everyone one, 100%, of these articles are completely worthless until there is an official announcement.

Doesn't mean it isn't interesting to speculate.

They'd be stupid to not port it to CDMA and let HTC and Android have free reign on VZW and Sprint 4G, while they are stuck on ATT. Plus I don't think the A4 proc has the modem on chip, so they'd just need to swap the modem chip for CDMA to support it along side GSM.

That's from 1 analyst... Engadget is saying they've got multiple sources.

I liked one of the comments on the Engadget article...."the first thing I do when I sign an NDA is email Engadget!"

In all seriousness, I'm not saying they don't have sources, all of these articles for the past, oh, six months or more have had some sort of a source backing it up. Just saying, until there's an actual announcement, none of these actually hold any weight.

Meh, iPhones aren't interesting to me anymore. The newer Android devices are really demonstrating how easy it is to go "full featured" if you're even the slightest bit technologically-inclined.

I'd take a Droid Incredible over a 3GS right now. Verizon getting an iPhone might push me off of Sprint so that my wife and I can both have the phones we want and share minutes (she currently has an iPhone 2G), but that's about it.

I suppose for that reason alone, the one family member wanting an iPhone, it would be good to see it on Verizon.

If you look back at the dates when Apple started to develop the iPhone, the contract start date may have been back in 2005 or so. I looked it up, and the iPhone had a 2 year R&D period.

I suspect Apple & AT&T had an agreement in place during the development phase, and if it happened when I suspect it happened, the exclusivity is either expired or about to expire.

Regardless, the international sales of iPhones exceeds the US sales and has for some time, we shall see what happens in the domestic market.

You will be able to use EV-DO for data too. They would be nuts not to include it.

Yeah. It's like saying LTE is only for data... as to 3G HSDPA/UMTS is only for data. See how well that will work for AT&T? Yeah. VZW will rely on EVDO/CDMA for a LONG time even though LTE is coming.

Remember, LTE is just VZW's answer to AT&T's faster 3G deployments. Or vice versa. The recent benchmarks have shown AT&T to be not only faster but pretty much just as reliable (sans SF and NYC). VZW is feeling the heat to finish deployment.

I'm guessing AT&T doesn't really have to worry about a decent LTE deployment till at LEAST till 2011. I'm guessing Q2. It's when the manufacturers start jumping on board LTE. And I don't see a mad rush for LTE yet around the world. 3G HSPA has a long way to go.

Ouch, by 2012 nobody on Verizon/T-Mobile/Sprint will even care about an iPhone anymore.

Meh, iPhones aren't interesting to me anymore.

I share a similar school of thought. I can't really describe it, but something about a closed system like the iPhone gives me a mindset of a closed platform that doesn't have "endless possiblilities" that an open platform like Android does. Of coure the terms "Open Platform" and "Closed Platform" are all very relative, but I think it does show a definite divide psychology speaking for me.

With Android out and kicking ass, I don't think there's really all that much of a pull for the iPhone anymore. It's pretty much just for people who are like "ooo look apple pretty must have." Android has all of the capabilities of the iPhone and then some.

I think that Apple is going to have to come to the table with some really sweet numbers or Verizon will walk away and stick with Android.

I don't think its a secret that Verizon wants the iPhone on their network.

I am sure they wouldn't mind iPhone users on their network, but it's not as big of a deal as it was when iPhone was the only game in town as far as high end smart phones. Now iPhone is just another smartphone on the shelf, not the automatic go to device.

I believe it is the bestselling (perhaps #2?) smartphone out there, so I can't see why Verizon wouldn't be quite excited to get it.
