2010 iPhone for VZW?

Apple and VZW still working together to get rid of ATT with spotty 3G service. And Apple realized so many people are not happy with ATT and they defected to VZW....VZW 2010 iPhone will show up on VZW store on Sept 2010?

Is that true?

It's true that the ATT exclusive on the iphone expires this year, and that Apple wants to get to any and all carriers that they can. I don't think there were any set dates but I wouldn't be surprised to see a Verizon iphone this year.

I thought AT&T had a 5-year exclusivity deal, so we don't get a non-AT&T iPhone until like 2012?

I'd jump on a Verizon iPhone in a heartbeat, but I'm concerned about the 3G - according to the commercials, you can't call and surf at the same time. That'd be annoying when looking stuff up while on the phone, which is something I did ALL the time when I was on AT&T with my iPhone.

I had every iPhone from when they were first released, and the service only got worse as time went on. I'm a die-hard iPhone fan, but I needed it to make calls, and in my area it was just baaaaaad. I was dropping 2-3 calls a day on it. Since switching to Verizon, I've dropped exactly 3 calls in the last 2 months. I miss my iPhone all the time though 🙁 Maybe the iTablet will be available for Verizon...

Everywhere I've read it says this year, and its pretty widely rumored that something from Apple is going to make an appearance on Verizon around the summer of this year. However, I hope it's updated as I just can't see the advantage of putting an already outdated phone on another network.

The call and data is a CDMA limitation, which will probably go away with the move to LTE. I doubt I would ever use that so a mute point for me, but for the rare cases like yourself I guess it can be a selling point.

I don't think AT&T will let it happen. I think the new tablet will be available on both carriers but the iPhone will stay at AT&T as long as AT&T concedes to some things for Apple.

Without the iPhone, AT&T has nothing. With the iPhone available on other carriers, there will be a mass exodus of people away from AT&T, particularly as contracts expire.

Verizon has a number of excellent smart phone options now besting the iPhone in all aspects except one: raw app count. Moot point though, once you sift all the crap away, Android, WebOS, and iPhone OS all have the same useful apps.

One thing the iPhone tends to have the better of is games, which kind of matter to the mainstream user. Although it looks like Pam will be getting the most advanced ones here in a few weeks.

Anyone want to make a bet?

3 parts to this one...

1.) Apple goes to Verizon this year
2.) Apple continues relationship with ATT, selling iPhones (I mean think about it, Apple doesn't subtract carriers, it adds them in other countries, what are they going to do tell the millions of current iPhone customers they're shit outta luck?) Hardly.
3.) The exclusive contract with ATT is supposed to end this summer.

I get a kick outta the fanboys, the mobile market potential is massive, where each home has 1 internet connection, think of everyone having a personal connection... There's room for massive growth of all the current smartphones and maybe a few more before a shakeout.

The tendency in the US is to see everything as all or none or black & white, truth is it's all gray.

If you want to make a bet, I prefer that it be more black & white.

1) Apple might go to Verizon, but the iPhone won't.

Now what's the bet???

I dont see Apple making a second device. If they go to Verizon it will be with an iPhone.

I meant that I dont see Apple making a second phone that would be on the same level as the iphone.

I never said they were making another phone. I was responding to the moose's post about Apple going to Verizon this year. I also think that Apple will, but not with the iPhone.

It sounds like you want to bet!!!:awe:

Very True, but that's now how the consumer sees it =(

Though, I will say WebOS still needs heavy optimizations in 2.0 or else it will fail. I'm not too worried about app development on it, I have what I need for the most part. It would be a shame to see it disappear tho, I love the "cards" interface over anything else out there now. Not to mention the form factor of the Pre. Not everyone wants a giant 4.3" screen =(

Tell you what I'm gonna do...

$100 PayPal says Apple has a phone (not the tablet, bets on the tablet are off the table for this one and for our purposes, a phone will be any device that makes phone calls with a screen less than 5 inches diagonal) on Verizon's network by Dec 31, 2010.

Bet to be paid by Jan 28th, 2011.

I'll take some of that too, if I'm not too late.
