It's true that the ATT exclusive on the iphone expires this year, and that Apple wants to get to any and all carriers that they can. I don't think there were any set dates but I wouldn't be surprised to see a Verizon iphone this year.
I thought AT&T had a 5-year exclusivity deal, so we don't get a non-AT&T iPhone until like 2012?
I'd jump on a Verizon iPhone in a heartbeat, but I'm concerned about the 3G - according to the commercials, you can't call and surf at the same time. That'd be annoying when looking stuff up while on the phone, which is something I did ALL the time when I was on AT&T with my iPhone.
I had every iPhone from when they were first released, and the service only got worse as time went on. I'm a die-hard iPhone fan, but I needed it to make calls, and in my area it was just baaaaaad. I was dropping 2-3 calls a day on it. Since switching to Verizon, I've dropped exactly 3 calls in the last 2 months. I miss my iPhone all the time thoughMaybe the iTablet will be available for Verizon...
Anyone want to make a bet?
3 parts to this one...
1.) Apple goes to Verizon this year
2.) Apple continues relationship with ATT, selling iPhones (I mean think about it, Apple doesn't subtract carriers, it adds them in other countries, what are they going to do tell the millions of current iPhone customers they're shit outta luck?) Hardly.
3.) The exclusive contract with ATT is supposed to end this summer.
I get a kick outta the fanboys, the mobile market potential is massive, where each home has 1 internet connection, think of everyone having a personal connection... There's room for massive growth of all the current smartphones and maybe a few more before a shakeout.
The tendency in the US is to see everything as all or none or black & white, truth is it's all gray.
If you want to make a bet, I prefer that it be more black & white.
1) Apple might go to Verizon, but the iPhone won't.
Now what's the bet???
I dont see Apple making a second device. If they go to Verizon it will be with an iPhone.
Dude, you so need to google Apple and slate.
I meant that I dont see Apple making a second phone that would be on the same level as the iphone.
Very True, but that's now how the consumer sees it =(Moot point though, once you sift all the crap away, Android, WebOS, and iPhone OS all have the same useful apps.
If you want to make a bet, I prefer that it be more black & white.

Tell you what I'm gonna do...
$100 PayPal says Apple has a phone (not the tablet, bets on the tablet are off the table for this one and for our purposes, a phone will be any device that makes phone calls with a screen less than 5 inches diagonal) on Verizon's network by Dec 31, 2010.
Bet to be paid by Jan 28th, 2011.

AT&T might not have iphone exclusivity as of 1/27. Just a rumor of course.

I'll take some of that too, if I'm not too late.
