and if you're scared of them, please do stay on 4 wheels or more - thank you!!

I repeat, it's the dumbass young punks speeding down the freeway and driving between the lanes who give the rest of us riders a bad name. If you want to go that fast, there are these places called racetracks that are set aside for that purpose and designed so that when you lose it you don't smoke some innocent family coming back from vacation.

People like that need to die in an accident.
Hopefully he slams into a 1997 Maxima SE.
STFU. There is absolutely no reason for anyone to hit 180mph on the highway. Especially when there are other motorists around.
Because he can? Nothing bad happened. The most dangerous thing there was the people slamming on their brakes with other cars behind him.Half the people who own them end up dead with somebody's grill as a make-shift coffin. Just because he went 180 this time without dying, doesn't mean he wouldn't in the future, and a 700 lb bike ramming into your car at 180 mph is going to hurt as much as a regular car hitting you at a fairly moderate speed. Course, it will hurt the guy on the bike more.
If you're moving fast on a bike, you can do more than enough damage to a car to cause injury to the people inside. Or the impact with the other vehicle can cause secondary and tertiary impacts that do more damage. Even on a bike, you're not the only one who can suffer from your mistakes.Originally posted by: SampSon

Insurance on my standard is $130 per year for full coverage including property damage and six-figure medical. So you're paying only a bit less than 3 times the amount I'm paying and getting maybe 1/3 the coverage. I'd say that's expensive.Originally posted by: DPmaster
Insurance for bikes is cheap where I live. Friend has a Hayabusa and his insurance is $266 for a full year. I asked my insurance company what my rate would be for a GSX-R1000 and it was $346 for a full year for me. This is just liability though and not full coverage.

They way between 500 and 700 pounds with rider.Originally posted by: mugs
About how much do sportbikes weigh? At high speeds, they probably have as much inertia as a small car at highway speeds. So yeah, I imagine a bike could cause a decent amount of damage in an accident. That's whe we should all buy oversized SUVs to protect ourselves from the sportbike menace.![]()

You're right that there's not as much damage as from a car at the same speed, but my main issue is the way some people take this argument and say that a reckless sportbike rider is only risking himself. I just wanted to point out that a reckless motorcyclist is still a danger to people even when those other people are in SUV's.

actually, it is probably energy that matters more than inertia. Since the fomula for kinetic energy is a function of velocity^2, I bike going 180 or so is probably much more dangerous than a car going the speed limit.
That's for my motorcycle. I pay much, much, much more for full coverage on my car. For my car, I pay more every 6 months than you pay per year for your truck. (22 year old with a 290 HP car.)Originally posted by: DPmaster
What kind of car do you drive and what insurance company do you have? I'd kill to get $130/full coverage for a full year. I pay $530/year for just liability on my truck.Originally posted by: Zenmervolt
