I could help you but for one thing, pics make all the difference.

I asked him for pics in his thread last night, no dice. Of course, it didn't help that the thread was locked within 12 minutes 😛

I've learned these things the hard way, you just cannot argue or get mad at your girlfriend. You yell at them too much and you come off as verbally abusive, you try to tell them anything and they say your trying to act high and mighty. There's just no angle you can play that will work. You just have to find other ways to vent your rage.

Take it from me, I just lost my gf because I was constantly criticizing her. Ask yourself this, is arguing really worth losing your gf over? Look at the big picture, pick your battles, you'll come out ok man. Oh, and ALWAYS APOLOGIZE, no matter what.

wow.

Well ou were at the wheel making the wild turns. If you felt it was unsafe, you could have turned around, stopped, etc. I understand your frustration, and she should have apologized for not knowing the way and making you frazzled, but she is not the reason you almost hit that car.
Yep, I agree. I had the choice whether to turn or not, and I decided to turn. That is ultimately my decision. It was just her fault for putting me in the position in the first place where I didn't know where to go until the VERY last second. That is why I flipped out. I said sorry for screaming, she said sorry for not realizing why I was so mad even about something that was just an accident.

Also, I was already in a bad mood because of the damn closed road and detours, and we had to sit in about fifteen minutes of lights just to make it back up the hill to the mall to start over because everyone else was going in that direction, too. So that didn't help, I guess I was easy to set off.

As far as the road goes, I didn't KNOW that it had no turn-arounds, I had never been on the road before, but it went down a giant slope and back up another and then winded into some woods so I was afraid of having a no-turn-around-possible situation.

No but seriously, you flipped out and it was justified, but maybe not to the point of making her cry. Still, she shouldn't be crying over something like that, as she put your lives both in jeopardy with her indecision.

no she didn't. when you're driving you are "pilot in command", you are the final decision maker.

you learned a valuable lesson: don't let women give you driving directions 😛 that and a simple u-turn could have solved a missed turn... unless you're traveling through one way streets left and right. even then, i'm sure you could have made your way around and eventually found your way home.

Yeah, it's just when she yelled it like that I had to decide quickly and so I decided to turn.

The moral is, if you're not sure if you can make a turn when someone tells you to turn immediately, don't try it!

EDIT: And to people like Xionide who continue to call me a dick, I won't believe no matter how times you tell me that you've never gotten frustrated and yelled at someone even if there was no need to. That's all this was.

Is it worth not getting laid over?

Yeah. yelling at GF == acceptable, if she truely deserved it. But you have to apologize afterwards, that's the rule. Otherwise no make-up sex, which is how she is supposed to apologize to you as well.

I did feel bad and started to apologize immediatley afterwards, but I couldn't stay that way and just got mad again because she kept acting like I had NO reason to be mad at all, just because it was an accident. I really it was an accident, but she wasn't comprehending the fact that we came very close to hitting a guy head on and that's what made me stay mad.

See, that's not good. You were the one driving, not her. Regardless of whether or not the directions were accurate, your collective safety was/is your primary responsibility, as the driver of the vehicle. Therefore, I think that you're not truely mad at her, you're mad at yourself. Blaming her here really won't help, and if you "stay mad", it will likely reduce the chances of nookie. That would be... unwise.

So we're coming home from the mall and the road is blocked off and all the traffic is being redirected...into shopping plazas, effectively providing no way home. I'm thinking great, wtf are we gonna do now. So my girlfriend says she knows the back roads way from the mall. I ask her repeatedly if she is absolutely sure she knows the way, and she assures me she is. So, we drive back up the hill to the mall, and get on one of the back roads. I keep telling her to make sure she knows exactly where she's going and to not tell me any turns too late. Well, we're going and she suddenly says "Wait, wait, you have to turn here," and then immediately after "No, this isn't it," so I continue to accelerate, but we still haven't passed the road yet, and then again she says "No, this is it, hurry turn this is the only road that takes us there!" very frantically. So at the last second I spin the wheel and turn into the road at the same second a guy is coming down the road towards the intersection. We came so friggin close to hitting him and I fishtailed a bit on the gravel while braking to make the turn. Then I flipped out on her for being unsure after I told her so many times to make sure you know it and to make sure you don't tell me turns too late. She of course cried.

Should I reconcile the situation or hold my ground?

Let me get this straight...you're mad at her because you swerved to make a turn and almost killed the both of you?

You=dumbass. If you have even a small portion of a brain then go and beg her forgiveness right now.

Overreacted? Yes
Understandable? Of course.

Hopefully, you realized what you did was a mistake, and a relationship will be full of em. Apologize, 300 bucks says she feels just as bad. At least, mine would've. =0)

Doesn't sound as bad as when I called my gf a "cheap fkn chnk." She cried, but I forgave her.

And you only hit her because you love her, right?

- M4H

Nah I don't hit girls. We went out to dinner, and she complained about how expensive going out was. And I reminded her that every time we go out I am the one that pays. Instead of saying thank you she continued to btch at me. Hence, I called her a CFC.

Wow, it's amazing you even get dates being such a complete fvcktard and all.

Man, I'm such an ass, you're right! Because no one EVER overreacts in the heat of the moment! I bet everyone on these boards but ME would've kept their cool and said to her "Hey, hey, it's okay, I'm the driver here, it's no problem that you weren't paying attention and didn't tell me ahead of time even though I asked you to be alert."

Bottom line: I should've kept going but didn't. Luckily it was okay. I yelled because I was mad and frustrated. I felt bad and apologized but then got mad all over again because she wouldn't realize the severity of the situation, and wouldn't acknowledge the fact that she made a mistake, as well. Later, though, after calming down, I apologized again and so did she for not being more careful with her directions. Simple and good, no bad drivers and no lasting fight.

Obviously. You haven't spent much time in OT, have you? 😀 😛

Every now and then I get a ray of hope that some logical thinking will waltz into the forums...

EDIT: Every now and then....what song is that???
