jesus, if you couldn't make the turn safely, why didn't you just keep going and make a U-turn a little way down the road? your mistake is what got you into a dangerous situation, not hers.

Some people just get upset easy. Don't feel bad becuase she cried. Instead feel bad because it's the right thing to do. You should never have gotten pissed at her for screwing up. It happens. You have as much reason to be mad at yourself. She was directing you, but you were the one driving. It's your skills and evaluation that led you to try and make the turn at the last second instead of trying to turn around and head back.

You were obviously going to fast for conditions if you almost hit the other car. You should have kept going and turned around down the road instead of acting negligent like that.
Wow what a breath of fresh air you brought into this thread!

If you're too damn lazy to read it all, don't bother posting.

If you're too damn lazy to learn what the edit function can do and update your original post then you should not bother posting in OT you nutterfvck.
I could update the OP with the fact that we apologized and it's over, yes, but it'd be ridiculous to update the OP with every single opinion that has already been given so that people don't post them over...and over...and over again.

I'm thinking great, wtf are we gonna do now. So my girlfriend says she knows the back roads way from the mall. I ask her repeatedly if she is absolutely sure she knows the way, and she assures me she is. So, we drive back up the hill to the mall, and get on one of the back roads. I keep telling her to make sure she knows exactly where she's going and to not tell me any turns too late. Well, we're going and she suddenly says "Wait, wait, you have to turn here," and then immediately after "No, this isn't it," so I continue to accelerate, but we still haven't passed the road yet, and then again she says "No, this is it, hurry turn this is the only road that takes us there!" very frantically. So at the last second I spin the wheel and turn into the road at the same second a guy is coming down the road towards the intersection. We came so friggin close to hitting him and I fishtailed a bit on the gravel while braking to make the turn. Then I flipped out on her for being unsure after I told her so many times to make sure you know it and to make sure you don't tell me turns too late. She of course cried.

Should I reconcile the situation or hold my ground?

UPDATE 3/30/05: I apologized for getting mad and she apologized for not trying harder to keep her directions straight. Yes, it was my decision whether or not to make the turn, I was only angry at her for not comprehending the importance of trying to keep her directions straight when she is guiding me. Now let this thread die.
way to man up... i guess

So she made an accident, which she couldn't help, and you still acted abusively, which you could.

Abusively, haha. Maybe I should've further described what the yelling was like. I wasn't screaming so loud people outside the car could hear, or so loud that my voice was entering a high pitch, or so loud that if other people were listening everyone would get real quiet and be solemn. I just said yelled that I couldn't believe she did that and I asked her to keep the directions straight many times, and she couldn't. Those two lines were enough to make her cry. Far from what would warrant crying out of a lot of other people. Then we were instantly silent and it was fine by an hour later.

Abusive, right... I'm done. Everyone yells at people once in awhile.

Okay, if a girl is saying what you did is wrong, you know it was.

yeh, you said you "flipped out on her". which doesn't sound like you were calm and rational. sounds like you yelled, and probably swore at her.

"sounds like you yelled..."

Umm, I said I did, did I ever deny that?

I don't swear...ever.

It's just...not a habit of mine. I mean, I'm not some kind of saint that won't allow a bad word to ever escape my mouth, e.g. I will if I am repeating back what someone said to me, or I will to make something funny, but I never swear in normal conversation or when I get mad.

dumb bitch probably deserved it for being a flaky and undecisive while pretending to order him around. No offense, but it is an inherently female trait.

OP - don't put up with that crap. As moshquerade said you were supposed to be all calm and rational while she was an irrational lunatic. Show her that the door swings both ways. If she expects you to be all calm and rational then she better be willing to give what she asks - which in my guesstimation she doesn't. She's allowed to abuse you but god forbid you actually raise your voice at her.

grow a pair.
