12 Weeks to Put on Some Weight

In case you haven't noticed, this is an exceptionally slow way to change your body composition. Had you done proper bulk & cut cycles, your results would probably have been better - that is, you would have ended up with more muscle and less fat in the same time.

I'm thinking about starting one of those bulk and cut cycles in September.

I've gotten leaner and put on muscle. They aren't huge changes, but I notice them.
That's all well and good, but the title of the thread is '12 weeks to put on some weight'...not '12 weeks to get leaner'. 😛

I'm surprised no one has asked for leg pictures in all this time. Upper body is only half the picture. He might have gained definition down there. Everyone puts their fat in a different place. I generally get love handles when I'm that heavy (5'8", 140lbs).

DO THIS. You will NOT get as 'fat' as you think. Looking at your pictures I don't see a shred of difference in body comp. Plenty of people (myself included) can help you with doing a clean bulk. I think some people hear the term bulk and they assume it means drinking gallons of creme & pounds of sugar. It shouldn't. You can do it relatively cleanly and fairly quickly without going for junk food. In fact I'd argue that you shouldn't be downing junk food if you're bulking.

It's pretty obvious that he's gotten more muscle from his pictures if you bother to pay attention, but yea he's not "putting on weight" like he seemed to have wanted to.

I'm telling you dude, drink some milk. At this rate I am going to pass you in a week or two, and I started at 144.5lb four weeks ago...

I don't know that I'd say it's overly obvious, but he does look to have filled out a bit in his shoulders and upper arms.

That being said, as others (and you) have mentioned, he definitely hasn't put on the weight he initially seemed to want to gain. Nothing wrong with that, though, OP--you've now experienced the pain and frustration that is a "clean" bulk, which should give you the motivation to try a traditional bulk if, for no other reason, than the sake of comparison.

As for 70's big vs. 90's "small"...if Brad Pitt in Fight Club is going to be the epitome of 90's "small," I'll take that every time. It's a more natural fit for my body type, I find it to be better aesthetically, clothes fit quite well, and I'm rather happy with my strength. Nothing wrong with either ideal, though, IMO; I'm sure you'll find plenty of women (or men, if you're so inclined) who would be taken aback by both.
