I have a friend with a family who is living with his mother and they share a single WiFI router.
He wants to set up OpenDNS for his family so he can set up a profile to block certain content from his kids (e.g. Youtube) but, if he set that up on the main router/modem in the home then his mother...
I'm hoping someone here can help me. I have a Netgear R8000p with one 2.4GHz radio and two 5GHz radios.
Right now I have each radio broadcasting on its own SSID as I prefer to join 5GHz if in range.
Can I set up the two 5GHz radios on the same SSID? Will that help overall performance? I...
Sorry, but the garage is too distant and around a driveway. My trenchline would be exceedingly difficult to get CAT6.
Any other advice on bridges or extenders. I'm not below consumer grade stuff. It's not that I'm unware that I could spend more but I can't afford a professional grade system...
I've been doing some research on this question but can't figure out the best way to do thi. I currently have a TP-Link that provides pretty decent coverage around the home but I'd like to beef that up with a mesh system like Linsys Velop or equivalent.
But I'm also going to be building a...
Update on this. I submitted an email and they did get back to me quickly. TP-Link has a strange way of organizing their sites. I had to go to the tp-link.us site in order to get the updated firmware and (for now) it seems to be a bit more stable than it was.
I've fought to accept the fact that this router appears to be a piece of junk for 5 months now. I had an Asus that worked pretty well but liked the idea of incresed backplane throughput. When it works it screams but it constantly locks up.
Has anyone else experienced this problem and, if so...
With my wireless router seeming to act up I was wondering what everyone thinks of the new eero?
https://eero.com/
Looks like the increased throughput is pretty amazing.
If you're looking for a way for an external service to always "know" your dynamic IP you can use a service like no-ip.com. You can set up a free host on the service and then load the no-ip.com client on your home system. As the dynamic IP of your router changes then client will report the...
Windows 7 Pro. That hasn't changed.
Ironically, the only way to connect to the NAS when this is occuring is to browse to it by going external and then coming back in to the router. I've got port forwarding set up on the router to re-route incoming ports to the ports to connect to the web...
I'm having a strange issue that is driving me crazy and I'm hoping someone might have a theory as to what is happening.
- Wireless Router: RT-N66U
- I've got a 2.4GHz SSID and a 5GHz SSID both broadcasting throughout the home with good connectivity.
- I've got about 20-25 clients...
I'm looking for recommendations for high quality "vanilla" Wireless Access Points. By that I mean WAPs that do not have built in routers but are used for WAP only. I have an Asus RT-N66U but it's overkill with all the built in router features and I'm hoping to find something equivalent that is...
I've got a 1.5 year old HP Pavilion p6510f and the case fan has failed. I've tried a Google search for "HP Pavilion p6510f Case Fan" but can't figure out how to find a replacement fan. Does anyone have any ideas on how I can find the correct fan to replace the fan that is no longer working...
I'm moving into a house where I want to drop internet in the office (upstairs) and access the internet from the basement where my TV and other devices will need internet access.
I saw this D-Link Combo:
Router: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16833127258
Access Point...
OK, I feel like a dork for having to ask this but I'm hoping you guys have enough experience that you've optimized this. I've done this about 5-6 times but it seems like every time I do it I have to figure out what I did because it's about 6 months between upgrades.
Bottome line is that I'm...
