Sony VAIO BX563B PM-1.73GHz 512MB/60GB DVD/CD-RW 15.4in

"Purchase a BX Series computer and trade in any working notebook and receive a minimum $300 trade. Trade in a Dell and receive a minimum $500 trade."

I thought some of you might be interested. Searched and could not find another thread on this so I hope it isn't a repost.

New info from MasterChef:
The Go Pro 3 - Sony started a new trade in program that runs until 12/31. $600 on Sony laptops and $400 on any other brand.

Thanks for the new information MasterChef. Sorry about the confusion.

And here are some details from SilentVixen on the deal at UBMicro.

Want it even hotter? I know someone who works at Zones, and will get you corp pricing/discount. The 563B for $800. There are others available as well.

PM me for the contact information.

Also, for you old Dell owners, after 9/30, the trade in value drops to $400.

Wow. $300 for that laptop. Seems to be too easy. Can you just buy a Dell of Ebay for cheap and send it in? I see you see the OS CD and all that stuff.....

It has been confirmed that the old laptop need meet the following criteria (despite all the fine print):

1. Has to work! Duh!
2. Has to have Windows installed, or a copy included. BURNED OK, no serial needs to be included.
3. Battery must be included (does not need to hold a charge).
4. Power adapater must be included.

This has been verified with Sony (sales) reps, as well as with people who have done the deal.

So, to answer your question, YES! You can buy a $100 vaio on egay, then turn around and get $600 on it for a trade in towards a new BX series vaio.

Scheduled delivery on my BX540BWC is Wednesday

Update - I used the Dell trade in ($500) and purchased a VGN-BX560B05 for $800 from Zones. After shipping and taxes the net price will be around $375. This model includes a built-in camera and Bluetooth. The VGN-BX563B does not have the camera or Bluetooth.

Also, the program has been extended and changed. $600 on a Sony laptop and $400 on ANY other brand. Go Pro 3 program details are here. So if you have a Sony laptop you could get one of these VGN-BX560B05 laptops for $800-600=$200 plus shipping and tax. That's a pretty good deal.

Yes. Purchase the Sony Laptop that is part of the trade up program from ANY authorized dealer. You are free to find the best price. Some of us have obtained a good price at Zones. If you find favorable prices on other models at other dealers please post the details.

Details on the VGN-BX560B05 at Zones and the tech specs for the BX560B Series from Sony.

I forgot to mention. When I bought mine from Zones there was also a promotion going on that included a free 2nd battery.

It really depends what you want to use it for. Both Laptops are good. One might be a bit more portable and faster, but less features overall, while the other is more of a media center.

Depends what you are after.

Edit: more info about both laptops

EDIT: Updated post to reflect models.

I really think I might do this. Let me get this straight. I can go on ebay, buy an old working Sony, I then do the offer and send it to sony and they give me $600 after I buy one of their BX series from an authorized dealer?

Man I'm replying alot. You'll probably have to bid on one. There weren't really any good BIN laptops.
