AMD said the main problem was heat trapped on top, but since now cache at the bottom that should not be a problem, in theory.Voltages were a problem
That is why I said "mostly". But generally thermals were the biggest issue. Voltages were the reason why AMD forbid overclocking on Zen3-Zen4 X3D parts. And while I also think there will be limitations, I think that a frequency increase respect to the previous generation has to be expected.Voltages were a problem. I think the 3D chiplet will be limited. Maybe 5.4GHz.
No, voltage is definitely the hard ceiling since SoIC bonds tend to kinda do the 12VHPWR thing at high volts lotta current. That is why I said "mostly". But generally thermals were the biggest issue. Kraken isn't a rebrand even if it may be pointless outside of a sticker. Phoenix 2 was also not a rebrand nor pointless. It was supposed to be cheaper.
Hawk Point, yeah...

yeah I know, but as you say, KRK "even if may be pointless" and PHX2 "was supposed to be"
the end result is what matters, as results both are very similar to rebrands or even worse
That’s beyond first world problems*sigh* temporarily out of income and now I need to come up with $3000 for a 5090 + 9950X3D. First world problems I guess. At least the money should begin flowing again soon.
I hate to break it to you bud, but $3K isnt going to cut it. $699 for X3D + $2600 for scalped 5090 + taxes/VAT, you are looking at $3500 easily.*sigh* temporarily out of income and now I need to come up with $3000 for a 5090 + 9950X3D. I am not paying a scalper when I know a guy. 🤣I hate to break it to you bud, but $3K isnt going to cut it. $699 for X3D + $2600 for scalped 5090 + taxes/VAT, you are looking at $3500 easily.![]()
Don't you want to wait for the Minisforum version of the Ryzen 395 128GB or even 64GB with a PCIe slot? That way, you get the best of both worlds.I am not paying a scalper when I know a guy. 🤣
Are specs even released on the IO the strix halo IOD offers?Don't you want to wait for the Minisforum version of the Ryzen 395 128GB or even 64GB with a PCIe slot? That way, you get the best of both worlds.

Thunderbolt GPU enclosure is an option too.You can have an x8 to an external GPU + 2xSSD, or 4x to an I/O hub, 8x to a GPU, and 1xssd, or 4xssd, or a few thunderbolt ports and a couple SSDs.
AMD's website said 8 CU.Hey guys, can someone tell me what's the rumored CU count for Kracken Point?
Can't seem to find the info.
That's not bad for a mainstream/mid tier APU, should be better than Renoir or Cezanne which are already pretty decent.AMD's website said 8 CU.
Except they will pair it with crappy LPDDR5. Mendocino has 5500 MT/s and it's almost atrocious. That's not bad for a mainstream/mid tier APU, should be better than Renoir or Cezanne which are already pretty decent.
Mendochino's GPU is tiny though, only 2 CU, same as the Raphael and Granite Ridge integrated graphics.Except they will pair it with crappy LPDDR5. Mendocino has 5500 MT/s and it's almost atrocious.
