Many other phones do it, and can do it without the need of a wifi connection, it's just that the commercials suck.

It better be good quality since you can only use Facetime over Wifi. Guess the iPhone can't handle it but certain other phones can handle video-chat over cell networks just fine.

Jailbroken doesn't count as the average person won't do that and they're touting Facetime in the commercials. I always love how iPhone people say well jailbreak it and you can do that. Modding your phone never counts and is a sad excuse to do things.

How about AT&T won't allow it because their 3G network is crap? If Apple & AT&T allowed FaceTalk over 3G via the next iOS update AT&T's already shitty network would take an even bigger dump. I think people who dislike Apple really underestimate just how many iPhone 4 users would use FaceTalk over 3G if they could. So yeah, I'd say there's a good reason they won't allow it.
