Hell I'm still trying to figure out how gay marriage destroys regular marriage, now trans people are going to destroy civilization apparently....I need a maga primer.

As I say, I'm just relieved we've apparently solved all the big issues to the point where we are all the way down to "trans" (which isn't even the case based on evidence so far) women's boxing. We must be close to utopia.

It seems to me all these "trans" issues are "look squirrel" to distract from their shitty policies.

Narrative becomes we must either end up sacrificing the trans or our main policies as we lose focus which is by design to fracture the coalition. In the end we get nothing done. -- DIVIDE AND RULE v. 2024

If we have to sacrifice something.. I say it's the muslims because they aren't very accepting of left wing philosophy in politics or social issues.

FFS there's a reason even Swedish leftists now doesn't want more Muslim immigrants.. they seem to act like right wingers and attack the left.

A woman with a genetic difference that gives her an advantage, wins (in an inherently violent sport) and you think it's all about trans-gender politics, rather than being about the intrinsic uneven playing field of almost all competitive sport (and the intrinsic brutality of boxing - which is, surely, all about beating people up?).

If you don't have a problem with Jamie Lee Curtis, you shouldn't have a problem with Khelif. So she can bring it, why would she be at the damn Olympics if she didn't know how to effectively tune someone up?

Less time howling over what constitutes a woman, more time pondering how to be a better American please. Oh wait, if you worship a rapist and Epstein compadre and vote for the party of child marriage and 11 year olds having babies, no one gives a fuck what you think about sexuality and gender. People like to jump on things without much research. A lot of this is because of social media - it gives people too much ability to share their stupidity with others and it spreads. They jumped on the Algerian boxer without too much research. But this is also because there is a right wing narrative about gender issues and sexuality lately (and also because the person is non-European so that helps their cause). I saw some call the Algerian boxer trans etc. This is not true.

Best summary on the topic of trans athletes in sports. (Btw I know the boxer isnt trans)

Honestly we shouldn't care. Sports are stupid and those who win often do so because of genetic advantages. What's an acceptable genetic advantages however is debatable and will change over time as people's tastes change. I know someone whose parent was an Olympic athlete in long distance track and field and apparently tested positive for a genetic mutation that prevented them from making lactic acid. Is that fair? I mean come on it's all a joke.

Another layer of all this transphobic hypocrisy is the claim to be acting out of concern for female athletes and women’s sports, when what you’re doing is scrutinizing and denouncing female athletes for not “looking feminine” enough.

What impact do they think this is having on girl athletes who aren’t stereotypically pretty or feminine-looking? Do they imagine that the prospect of being raked over the coals in the media for their short hair, or their muscular appearance, or their heavy jaw, or whatever, makes the prospect of sports competition more appealing to those girls?

These insane, vicious gender police are themselves doing more damage to women’s sports than thousands of high-achieving transgender and/or XY female athletes would ever do.

I wonder what all this very public speculation and bullshitting about her innermost self will do to Imane Khelif. I wish her the very best and that she’ll get out of this shitstorm of a mess as unharmed as possible. Hopefully she returns to Algeria a hero and is not jailed or even killed.

Her next opponent, a Hungarian, was unsurprisingly reposting quite vile memes and comments.

While I have little interest in this due to it firstly being the Olympics and secondly it not involving the US. The little I have heard it she is not an XY but a generic woman with ovaries that behave more like testicles as in she produces (far?) more testosterone than a typical woman.

Again I have little interest in this matter I can easily be wrong.
I do have to wonder if that should bar her from competing.

Should Michael Phelps have been banned for having a freakish lung capacity combined with long arms? Should basketball players over 6’2 be banned because their height is an unfair advantage?


The notion of arbitrary genetic advantages in sport being “illegal” is just bonkers.

Do we have ANY evidence that this is even the case here? Outside Russians crying over their loss?
We know Republicans go for whatever Putin tells them to do, but we should beware anything even remotely related to their often baseless claims until we have independent verification.

Do you think the only reason that someone like Usain Bolt can run as fast as he does is because he trains harder than everyone else, or do you think he might have some genetic advantages that other people don't have? How about Katie Ledecky? Or maybe Aaron Judge? Maybe if I just spent more time in the batting cage I could be in the majors setting home run records.
