Every time we run into this situation, the "only male and female" people freak out and lash out. The biologists and doctors, who know what they are talking about, go into explaining mode again. Whether you look at intersex, differences of sexual development, genetics, human development, gender identity and sexual attraction, humans are more complicated than the cultural trends that people try to push. If your understanding of biological sex is solely based on XY/XX, then please stop talking.

In my opinion we have a disease called competition and because it is a disease it requires management. We have an inborn sense of fairness that tells us that our disease is problematic. How do you practice and participate in a disease and do it fairly. What always gets lost in this topic is that the ideal that there is such a thing as fair competition with regards to sports is so obviously blatantly bullshit. And the difference in testosterone levels between these two would be one of the most minor differences to modern sports. Unless people are going to setup classes based on hormone level ranges done like every hour for a whole like 6 months prior to competing, this entire argument (about hormone levels) is always going to be a farce. The Olympics (and other sports) will let teenagers compete against people twice their age and not bat an eye (age affects hormone levels, but that never seems to matter, I'm sure the older people totally super wouldn't do anything to affect their hormone levels...). Weird how that's never brought up, eh?

The main question is this: was Khelif a biological male, went though male puberty, and then wound up with the strength, size, speed, and punch-strength advantages that go along with male puberty—advantages that do not go away fully even with testosterone-suppression? All evidence points to “yes”, and my judgment was based on the fact that Khelif had an XY karyotype, the physical appearance and size of a man, and had previously failed testosterone tests and, on that basis, was denied the opportunity to box women.

There's no evidence to support your assertions (ignoring the highly subjective 'appearance' argument). Take a hike.

I mean if she has a set of secret balls somewhere producing testosterone there is probably a conversation to be had... On the other hand we've seen plenty of athletes with gigantism (excess production of human growth hormone) and noone ever broached the topic then.

I think the issue is Khelif has XY chromosomes which is genetic male. She also failed a gender test issued by a previous boxing federation.

A rumor that came out of the corrupt, Russian run IBA, and only came out after she beat a Russian boxer.
