So alot of right wingers complaining about Trans athletes participating as women... but this athlete from algeria is a woman from birth but has higher testosterone levels. I dont understand what the rage is about. she was a woman at birth... ? Is she considered trans?

I think the issue is Khelif has XY chromosomes which is genetic male. She also failed a gender test issued by a previous boxing federation.

She has DSD from my understanding, she is not trans or intersex.

The funny thing is that all the trans bans conservatives love would still permit her to compete. But really these people are absolute fucking ghouls for piling on this woman.
Some folks I know on Facebook are just calling her a man and trans. Seems to be the conservative hot take that it’s a dude competing to beat up women.

Conservatives look for any boogeyman they can find. How long will it take them to figure out their trans accusation is wrong? Will they ever admit it?

It is unbelievable how ignorant and gullible people are and how cruel people like Vance are to exploit that gullibility. A woman with extra testosterone through genetics is a woman with extra testosterone. Sheesh.

It's just an excuse to bash trans people. They're not concerned in the least about fairness in women's sports. It's merely a vehicle to display their own shittyness.
I agree. @HomerJS thanks for the you tube link I added it to one of the posts I was talking about.

The tough part for conservatives here is when you back yourself into a strictly binary choice when reality is much more complex you can either choose to deal with reality or double down. Unfortunately the conservative choice 100% of the time is to double down time and again.

So you end up with the rage machine that drowns out meaningful discussion and decision making.

I have not dug into the details of these no trans kids in girls sports bills but don’t most of them focus on the sex on the birth certificate?

This isn't even a new situation, I've brought up Caster Semenya in previous trans sports participation discussions...

According to those morons most of us are going to transition to a woman anyways after we vote for a woman this fall.

"I heard the scientists say the other day that when a man votes for a woman, he actually transitions into a woman." - Jesse Watters

Republicans are weird.

I guess the funny part of that comment is calling sister fucking Baptist pastors “scientists”.

I have a recollection of a previous attempt to blanket test athletes went poorly because the male athletes kept discovering how not-male they were, genetically. Maybe we should rekindle that fire so all the rabble-rousers will back down once it starts affecting their dnd football teams.

I'm just glad we've solved all the serious problems and now we are down to Olympics women's boxing. That's cause for celebration, because that was pretty far down my list of concerns... I'd say getting the corruption out of both the Olympics and Boxing were higher.

This requires nuance which most people don't have. Here is an interesting video from a doctor who elaborates on the issue and does not take sides.
Great video. Im glad he mentioned not making rushed judgement based on shitty headlines etc.as well as all the science behind it.

That claim is from one unreliable source. The IOC tested her and determined she's a biological woman.
Yea, that is the problem. Nobody is being really transparent about what tests were administered and why they were deemed eligible for the Olympics but not for other events. Of course, medical privacy issues come into play, but it is really difficult to know the situation with such vague information available.
