I dug myself a pretty big hole accepting less than 30k for my current job.

less than 30k? part time i hope?

lol, man, are people here that out of touch with reality or what? yes, people do make less than 30k full time. not everyone make 100k+ a year like you all seem to think. i was making 28k full time at my previous job. i started this job at 30k and i'm currently at 33k

Laborers can make 45-60 no prob. if you are accepting less you are lazy imo.

to be fair it really depends on where you live.

where i live $30k a year is good pay and no they are not easy to get or find.

What have you got to lose if you strapped down for a year or so, sold your guns, sold your car and bought a beater, stopped eating out and buying stupid sh!t, paid off your debt, then moved to a new city with a new life? Your virginity?

because doing that wouldn't amount to ******.

?? 😕

You're helpless dude. Don't drown in your pool of self pity.

I think my employer can afford it they are expanding right now and the IT department just hired 3 new people to the team. Besides I work at the travel agency and everyone else resides in a such nicer town where the main office is so I am deserving of some hazard pay because its a nightmare on the southside of Chicago working in this high stress go go go environment.

Abandon ship

thats the ideal solution but i'm outside of the shipping lanes and there aren't any ships to jump onto and i can't afford to just float around.

that's why you abandon ship when you find a new ship, not before.

i don't have money - the biggest reason
which leads to not being able to move out
i want to go back to school but that will make my situation worse by creating more bills and adding more to gas costs because the local CC is about 45 minutes away.

i am not driving for several hours a day just to get to and from a job.

i have no experience or education for much of anything.

My advice, pick up a part time job, anything......waiter, shoveling sh1t....i dont care what it is. Sell all your non necessary assets that have any resale value. Use the partime money and sale of assets to pay of any current debt. Secure a small personal loan 3k should be enough to get you set up in a new city.

Next find a city call some head hunters in said city line up some interviews for real job.

Contact some places hiring part time. Secure part time job with start date.

Next find a place to live in said city for cheap....roomates.com has rooms available in every major city from 500/mo on up.

Next take 3k loan..put security deposit on room and two months rent aside. Use the rest for misc. relocation expenses

when you get to city start part time job so you have income coming in while interviewing at the other places the headhunter has set you up with.

There you go man. Nothing about that plan is impossible.

DEMAND a raise, with less employees around, there should be more money for you.

Yeah and most places will tell you not to let the door hit you on the ass on the way out.

A) You are assuming as usual.
B) You dont have to necessarily be a cubicle sloth forever you can do whatever you want(i.e Commercial truck drivers can mkae 80k/yr in some parts of the country and they provide training)

Wow, I thought 30K anywhere in the US was considered poverty.
As for the 80k/yr job driving truck, good for it if you like sit on your a** all day. If I had that job, I'd probably drink myself to death.

hey moron it was fcking example there are other such opportunities. This isn't a permanent job move. Just something to put green in your pocket so you can get the schooling and job you do want. and sometimes people have to do something they dont want to do in order to get where they wanna be. Is called scarifice thats fvcking life. your just a bitch in general...you don't get life, you piss and moan that your in helpless situation. You are one of those people that will spend they're entire life whining about why they never had an opportunity for this or that or whatever......fvck you seriously. living in the US with an IQ above mental retardation means you have ZERO excuse for not becoming wealthy. If you are poor and live a ****** life thats because you chose it...end of story.

Do you want a WAHMBULANCE?

I mean seriously, tons of good ideas being posted...I think you're afraid of putting a little elbow grease into life. Do you want things handed to you?

For christ _ucking sake, if you really want it to happen, you'll make it happen.
