Local store had 22lr Thunderbolts $6.99 for 50 count, and some better CCI for $12.00 for 50 count box, limit 1 box per customer. Fuck that. Not much else except for random shotgun junk. Was looking at new pistols, but decided against a purchase. What am I supposed to do, hit someone with over the head it?

I obtained a P365xl today .. first handgun, along with a whole one box of 50 9mm rounds. Seems like not really enough to justify a practice session so I’m just storing it locked up for now. I did also grab a box of 800 22lr rounds since they had a few and a 22 rifle is in my near future. The rest of the boxes were spoken for within like three minutes ..

Congratulations!

I would think about shooting half and retaining half if for no other reason than knowing that your Sig is good with the ammo purchased.

You still would have two full mags and one for the chamber I believe.

Good luck.

I have a P365 and I love it but not sure if its the best first handgun.
I think your first should be something like a short tapered Mark IV. But a first defensive handgun is something else. For that I think either of the P365's is great.

Congrats, nice pistol, Now to train some with it. I recognize that ammo is scarce now, and many ranges that sell it, limiting how much they will sell at a time. I really encourage you attempt to procure and shoot at least 100 rounds, more if you can find/afford it. Also find some higher end self-defense ammo, a box of 25 will suffice to start.

And if you found some 22lr, you found a true unicorn.

Thanks gentlemen. Yeah, the guy at the store a couple months ago told me he’d recommend a full size for a first handgun so I didn’t buy it then, and they didn’t have any ammo anyway. I wanted a P226 or 92fs but impossible to find ... took what I could get even if it’s a bit harder to learn on. Similarly, I would have bought a lot more 9mm if they let me but there was a one box limit, and at that only for members or handgun purchasers. I will definitely go shoot half of it soon if I can’t find more, hopefully after I find a 10/22 or something to make the trip worth it. Starting to realize that this giant box of 22lr was indeed a lucky find.

I recently scored 10 boxes of Russian steel cased 9mm for $.40 a round and considered myself very fortunate.

Of course I'm up to my ass in 7.62x54R surplus but have very little to feed the handguns.

Last Friday I scored 200rds of 9mm and .45 both, standard Blazer stuff. $250, not bad. Shops should hook you up if your a regular customer, it's nice when they do.

Friend just texted me in how he bought 100 9mm rounds for $70. LOL. I told him he got gouged.
Paying over 2x the old price? Who was the seller? CTD? Nope, only 2x more expensive, CTD would make him paid 4x or more. LOL.

Sucked back in here by the lotto pool and had to stop by and say hi...wifey bought me a binary AR trigger for Christmas and I'm putting it in a new build here shortly, finally going to use the Spike's zombie lower I have had for more years than I care to admit. Kinda sucks to get this when ammo is so scarce and expensive, luckily I had close to 5k saved up before everything went to shit so I'm still pretty well stocked.

I paid $40 pre-COVID for 200 rounds of Winchester 9mm. I'd say that price is 4X normal. However, CTD is shit and should die. No respect for anyone who does business with those scum.

Let see. I look up on my old orders from PSA just from a couple years ago.

Magpul mag = $200 for 25 or $8/each......now it is about $12.5/each

PMC 5.56 ammo (brass, not steel) = $13 for 40 rounds or about $0.33/round

American Eagle .223 brass = $338 for 1040 rounds or about $0.33/round.

AE 9 mm 115 gr brass = $20 per 100 round or about $0.20/round

Look at all the current prices on those same/similar items = YIKE!!!!!!!!!!

Luckily that I stocked up and I am good for a while. I never did any business with CTD but their reputation is horrible from what I read/hear.

Speaking of ammo shortage, Vista is having a backlog order of........wait.....wait...wait for it............1 BILLION USD

Ready to admit I have an Italian problem...and don't intend to do anything about it.

I'm a huge fan of the Px4 as it was the first gun I shot the hell out of (10,000+ rounds) when I got back into shooting.. Idk how many years ago. The only complain I have on it is Beretta always has the safety going the wrong way. I don't know of any other gun that goes the same way as Beretta's. Maybe I've just fired too many 1911s but there's a much more fluid motion with it going the correct way..

I got started shooting on a Ruger P89 many years ago which has the same safety step so very natural to me.
