Till you realize how much 50 rounds costs 🙂

Fun round thats for sure though!
Been catching them for $22 for 50round box with the $6 shipping (no limit) so stocked up...😉 Also with this upper you can remove the guts from a cheap Pmag or what ever mag and the shells eject down so will be caught in the empty mag... I have several metal Promags and may modify one to have a larger holding capacity...? Put my mig welder to good use and might even consider making a few of these...? Hummm...? :sneaky:

Sure, but that's only useful if you're going to reload, which still hasn't kicked off. It's been a year and a half since everyone was saying "we'll be loading 5.7mm soon!" and "we'll see 5.7mm ammo made by companies other than FN finally!"

Still waiting...

Federal makes 5.7mm ammo now (in fact its in stock at sgammo).

Reloading i would say has reached a "wildcat" level at this point. You can get dies from pretty much any of the main die companies. Load data is out there in published form (lyman and accurate have them). Components are there nowadays as well. The main reason it hasnt really caught on reloading wise is it is a very...temperamental round to load for.The coating on the cases posses its own issue. Then you just have to do everything in stages it seems like (ie deprime, size, prime, ect). Think a lot of people just dont want to deal with it as its no where enar as simple as a 45acp, 9mm, or 223

What I have been buying is the Federal (American Eagle) 40 grain FMJ's but have a few Blue tips as well... What I am not sure of is why you are saying "Still waiting" the ammo can be found and bought resonable...? I do plan on reloading them as there is a ton of information on reloading this caliber...? At this point I am not planning on shooting it near as much as I do my other AR's in 223/5.56 which I have tons of different loads for them... But with time I will end up with a bunch of brass to reload and of course will be buying the die's and other components to do so... I also have 300BLK and 6.8 Rem SPC AR's and will also be loading for my AR10... Also the little 5.7X28 does not take much in the way of powder so a pound will go a long way...

Granted its not a ultra popular caliber but I think it is an awesome little round that few realize it being quite versatile...

The coating on the cases posses its own issue.
Yep had read up on that a good while back and found information on why and how to re-fit for this... Did find some information about the AR57 upper is not as sensitive to the coating requirement as for say a PS90 or the FN57 which is one of the reason I went with the AR57 upper besides quite a bit cheaper... This one brand new in the box with one 50round mag was $610 shipped to my door...

Good info then, last I had looked the only ammo around was still FN made.

As for dies, I had looked around and all I found was some info saying you could buy .24 caliber bullets, and getting the seating depth right was a pain. Granted I didn't look too hard, but there wasn't as much info as there is for any other caliber out there, including 6.8 or .300AAC both of which are also pretty new to the game and still have new loads being designed.

One good thing for my 6.8 SPC project is I recently traded for a mini 14 in that caliber and with it came 300+ rounds of loaded ammo & 1000+ de-primed clean brass and 500+ Sierra BTHP boxed bullets but the best part was a complete set of Lee dies to go with it...

I am working on a deal for a bunch of 300BLK brass right now but damn Christmas has me by the nads so the funds for projects are a bit slower...😛

Can you guys recommend a couple of items for a Sig P226 9mm?

1. What is a good holster to get?
2. What cleaning items should I get?
3. What parts should I upgrade if I want to uses +p+ ammo?

Part of what helped 300blk and 6.8 was the fact they were SAAMI approved. Lets everyone and their mother know the specs for the rounds. Which just means more people can get their hands in the pot so to speak. Well plus 6.8 and 300blk filled roles people wanted. 6.8 is better long range than a 223. 300blk is an amazing CQB suppressed round and still has decent range with supersonic rounds. The 57 was FN's baby for so long and nobody could do anything with it till recently. That and when you have basically 3 guns (ps90. 57, and AR57) there just isnt as much excitement as the round vs those with countless manufacturers making a wide variety of guns

I so need ot pick up more 300blk brass. Ive only got probably 600ish pieces. Half of which go to subsonic and half to supersonic so i feel like i always have 300blk to load. Need to pick up 1k or so and then ill be happy

1) theres tons out there. Id go to a gun store and look at some. I like my N82 Tactical for my 226

2) Whatever you want. A gun oil and grease for lube. Patches and a rod. A brush. Thats really all you need but you can get things like brushes, a boresnake, and tons of other things. But plenty of people only use patches, cleaning rod, and the bore brushes

3) +p+...if you ask sig they will say dont use it. But using it occasionally you dont really need to change anything. A heavier spring would be about all if you were going to shoot it frequently. Just stick to common brands and you will be fine. Some of the odd name +P+ (names escape me) made 9mm +P+ HOT for submarine gun use.

Are you talking the main recoil spring here? Where is a good place to buy them?

Emailed the CMP yesterday about my Garand order. They said they're out of stock and backordered on the SA Specials, but they have HRA Specials in stock and ready to ship. I asked them to change my order. Hopefully I'll be getting a nice Christmas present from them. 🙂

Keep in mind not all +p+ is equal. I'd verify what the Sig guys are running safely.

I would not be running it anything other than self defense though.

My CZ P01 is rated for +p+

They may say that, but there's really no way that they can guarantee it. Standard pressure and +P ammo both have standardized limits that they can conform to. +P+ is not standardized at all, it just means pressures higher than +P.

Alright guys, opinion time...I'm going to buy a new gun and wanted something a little different and have heard great things about the Turkish guns available right now. So I've pretty much narrowed it down to these two and I'm torn on which to go with.

Price difference is negligible...what say you?

Based on this review alone I wouldn't go near the Tisas.

Shooting Impressions: The gun is heavily sprung, likely for NATO spec ammo. This increases muzzle rise in comparison to something like an M&P or 1911. However, the porting reduces the muzzle rise back to other service pistol levels, especially with higher pressure ammo. Here's an important part, 115 grain standard pressure ammo does not shoot to point of aim, it's a solid 5 inches off at 10 yards. The gun didn't shoot near point of aim (as I define as within two inches of aimed area at 10 yards) until I used high pressure 124 grain and standard pressure 147 grain ammo. That being said, the pistol does group well offhand, I have not and will not test it in a rest, but can believe the previous magazine article as a one and one half inch hole offhand is possible for me at 10 yards with RWS ammo and 10 shots. The stock trigger is terrible, heavy and gritty.

By contrast, everything I'm reading on the Canik says it's solid out of the box. Plus it looks a million times better IMO, so I'd go with the Canik.

Pretty sure I saw a tuckable on their site. Maybe not...

Kinda mad that I didn't order the alien sooner. I just hate kydex and had gone so long without having to worry about tucking...

Fack

Just a follow up on this:

Cabelas had a King Tuk in stock for my 226. $60, so not cheap but not overpriced either. Didn't have time to check anything else out but they for sure had a tuckable holster.

Here's hoping everything goes safely tomorrow. I'll be in an area that isn't the best and we are expecting huge crowds and lots of rowdy people.

Allow me to add...CANIK CANIK CANIK CANIK x1000.

I've heard that all of Canik's guns are pretty solid, but it's not exactly a validation of the entire country's offerings. Beyond that, you've gotta consider that they're all generally copies of established designs...so I think it behooves you to go with the most rugged/reliable and highly-regarded of those (CZ-75).

On another note ... walked into a local Wallyworld this weekend and was surprised to find that they had .22LR in stock.

The limit was one box per customer so I picked up a box of 100 CCI mini-mags for a little under $8. Where have all the under $0.05/round ammo gone?

Also, looking for a .22 target pistol (like a Ruger Mark III). Wanting to teach the wife to shoot. Any recommendations for alternatives or where the best prices are? I cannot believe how ridiculously high the prices on simple .22 pistols have become.

Thanks ...
