I am a bigger fan of the clones (Tanfoglio/EAA, IMI/MR, Canik/Tristar would be the big three right now I think) and feel CZ's (street) prices are too high. But I'll still laugh at the though of picking a Ruger over a CZ. I will mention that I would never buy a polymer gun from either, though.

Ruger only seems nice to me if you want a revolver to put insanely hot loads in. If you want a nicer revolver you're better off getting a new production S&W, an older pre-safety S&W or an old Colt Python. Anything other than Ruger's revolvers though don't look very good to me.

Looks are part of why I chose them, strange that different people have different tastes, I hate the way Glocks look, and you can add that Walther to the ugly list too:p

For starters I was wanting something "different" for this gun, I've got plenty of plain old black guns, originally I wanted one of the cerakote tan or titanium Canik's, but they don't think they will be getting any more of them in.

I'll admit that Glocks are hardly a thing of beauty, I just prefer a more understated look. The two you listed are just a little too flamboyant for me, they look like big guns that are big solely for the sake of being big, especially with the cheesy plastic molded grips and multiple ports on that Tisas. :p I might be more forgiving if they were in a larger caliber, but for a 9 I want something more.. efficiently humble, shall we say. :)

If I was looking for "something new" that was a low-priced non-black non-polymer semi-auto, I'd probably go with a Bersa Thunder 9.

I got to fire a friends' SR9 once, wasn't half-bad. Very long trigger pull, but smooth and medium-weight. Didn't bobble once in the 50 rounds I shot, and shot to point of aim at 20 yards when I did my part.

Given the price point I think the SR series is good for a basic, reliable handgun. There are better options if you're willing to spend more, but I'd feel all right trusting my life to one.

Ugly, mostly compact and mostly striker fired guns...I HATE striker fired guns

Yeah the Tisas is flamboyant to say the least, it was definitely the lower option for me and I've already decided against it:p I don't think the Canik is all that big though, less than 5" barrel isn't huge by any means...but I do have to confess I like that Bersa, there's only one little tiny problem, I already have one:awe: It's a .45 but looks identical, great reliable little gun and currently my carry piece until I get something smaller.

Hate? Causes/reasons of hate for striker fired guns?
Trigger is either DAO or if DA/SA there's play before it engages in SA mode... have a Taurus 24/7 I'm trying to sell now because I don't like it and I've fired XD's, M&P's, Gocks and an SR9c and just don't like them at all...I prefer a real hammer with a direct connection to the trigger, even in DA mode they "feel" better to me and I can see the hammer move...just personal preference.

Strikers are for the most part SA. The Glock does a little bit of a precock before releasing the sear, sure, but you can't load the thing and decock it. If you have a round in the chamber, the striker is ready to fire.

My M&P with the aftermarket Apex trigger is fantastic (outside of the horrid accuracy of its older production barrel which I just received a KKM for and need to get to a range to test out).

My Gen3 G19 is a heavier trigger but it's still decent enough. The stock M&P trigger though I'll agree was complete garbage and a mushy mess with no distinct reset.

The only hammer fired pistol I'm interested in is a 1911 because of its trigger. Otherwise, meh, don't care about hammers and DA/SA pistols.

Carry as in self defense? This setup is not ideal for that over the DA original.

Unless you think you will be slapping the hammer back Clint Eastwood style between shots.

It's not single-action-only, it just has an exposed hammer so you can cock it into single action if you wish. I like options. If I'm in an adrenaline-fueled situation with my trigger control shot to shit, would be nice to get single action at least for the first shot. If I don't have time to cock the hammer then the threat is probably too close for it to matter and I'll happily empty the thing on double action.

To each their own...my 24/7 is DA/SA and even has a decocker, just looking for a buyer to take it away, many really like the features it offers but I just don't care for it:\

And I actually found what I was looking for:awe:

Academy had the Tristar T120 in desert tan, $432 out the door

Only one thing pisses me off...their employees were nice enough to tell me it was a black friday item for $329, and they had at least 6 of them left at the end of the day:eek: But no discount for me today:'( Damn thing came with 2 19 round mags instead of the normal 17 though

Didn't even know those mags existed.

You got the good grips, also.

I approve. Get video of a 38 round dump. It's fun.

Congrats in a way. I wish I had known they had it for $329 on BF too. I would have picked it up a different color.

Neither did I till I bought it:D

And the grips do feel good, nice texture...and the trigger is damn smooth as well

And if I'm going to do some mag dumps it'll be 39 rounds, always start with one in the pipe;)

The BF deal would have been awesome but I wish they wouldn't have told me:\ Not sure they had it in any other color, but I didn't ask either...they didn't even have them in the case though, I just happened to see them on their web site and called their main number to see if there was any store close to me that had them, mine did;)

Wouldn't hurt to call and check though, yours may too

Mine came with one of each. A 17 and a 19 round. Haven't found any extras though, but I haven't seriously looked in a couple months either.
