Hrr, I don't understand that lever action and why anyone would buy it.

Edit: What micro clone is that? It's designed backwards from an actual Aimpoint.

I don't understand slapping on some green letters and charging and charging $100 more for it.

It's not $100 more for it though. The mossberg 464 SPX (without the green letters) is like $10 cheaper than the "zmb" edition. For $399 it's a damn good gun at a damn fine price.

Here's the price comparison for lever action 30-30's

Bass pro's offerings range from $450 from the plain Marlin 336W on up. Bass Pro Shop 30-30 rifles

Gander mountain for .30-30 lever actions also start at $450 for a Marlin and go up a lot for a Winchester of Henry. List of Gander Mountain 30-30 rifles

Even Academy has prices for the cheaper lever actions all around $400. Not all of what they carry is on the site for Academy nor are their online prices the same as in store all the time

Basically if you look around, the $399 price I paid for my Mossberg 464 SPX zombie edition is a damn good price in comparison to what is out there for other .30-30 lever action rifles. Of which most of those other rifles are not really of the same offering in terms of functionality.

It's not $100 more for it though. Henry, Marlin, or any other 30-30 lever action is going to run you $600+. The mossberg 464 SPX (without the green letters) is like $10 cheaper than the "zmb" edition. For $399 it's a damn good gun at a damn fine price.

I've seen other "zombie" guns go for $100 more than the regular version before.

is it still worth $10 more? If i saw someone with a "zombie" gun i'd laugh at them for being a douchebag

Lol why? How does having green letters ZMB equate to being a douche bag? Some people like different styles than what their great grand parents liked. You need to get over yourself if you think things like 3 little letters on the side of a gun mean anything more than someone's personal expression of aesthetics. If I wanted a purely function, cheap, and ugly ass gun I'd get a Hi-Power. But since I got a bit of cash to spend, I'd prefer to spend my money on what I like to buy. If that's 3 green letters on the side of my gun so be it. If that's spending a bit extra for Ray-bans instead of your cheapie Panama Jack brand sunglasses from walmart then so be it.

What would make someone a douchebag is someone claiming that the extra expenditure somehow makes them or their products necessarily "better" and they take an elitist attitude towards the products based off price.

I liked the look, and functionality provided by the Mossberg 464 SPX rifle. It's what I wanted. I don't claim that because it has a tactical folding stock it is any better than a Marlin 336W. Nor would I make the claim that a Henry Golden Boy Deluxe model is any better than their regular plain jane versions unless there is some actual functional difference besides having a nifty shiny brass receiver on the gun. I will say that there isn't any OTHER lever action rifles like the mossberg 464 SPX line. I would have been just as happy with the Mossberg 464 SPX as I am with the purchase I made of the Mossberg 464 SPX ZMB edition.

What AR is that?

Bushmaster XM-15 M4 A3 model 90940 patrolman. It's actually not listed on their website. Unlike the A1, A2, or Carbon 15's, the A3 is actually mil-spec. With an actual F block iron sight and a red dot sight with the gun. It was also a bit pricier compared to the other models in the Bushmaster lineup for the AR-15s.

Nice, where'd you find one now and for what price? I really dig the skinny handguards.

Also, what do you mean by milspec? Is the bore chrome lined? Hammer forged barrel?

By milspec I mean that the parts that make up the gun are made to the same standards or higher than the minimum requirements for military specifications. Arguments are always put out that no "civilian" based AR-15 is every truly milspec because one has never been accepted by the government. But really the only difference between a "milspec" AR-15 and a milspec M16 is the fire select switch and for some guns a shorter barrel than 16". That's it when looking at things mechanically.

Much of what bushmaster puts out for AR-15's don't have that many parts that meet minimum military specifications. They use cheaper parts and don't have them tested to see if they meet the minimum durability and reliability tests put out by the military. Typically guns that meet or even exceed those guidelines are much more expensive. For example many guns use commericial buffer tubes for the stocks. If you look at the collapsible stock on the back of the AR-15, the milspec tubes that the buttstock slides along is either milspec or not. Commericial tubes tend to have a bigger diameter than milspec tubes, and they also are weaker on tolerances for the weight they'll take before deforming. Meaning it takes less pressure to bend or break the typically commercial tube than an actual mil spec tube. However, the other argument is that mil spec tubes are WAY over designed and the tubes don't need to be able to take the pressure of basically a tank running over it without breaking. That slightly weaker, as long as it is strong enough to handle the lifetime operation of the firearm, is good enough.

So many AR15's on the market use a commercial tube instead of a mil spec tube. It's cheaper and suits the needs of most people.

The A3 is one that meets more of the military specifications for Bushmaster. Meaning it's as close to the minimum standards for an M16 as you are going to find in an AR15 for civilian purchase. It's also a bit pricier because of that. As for what I paid, it was a little under a G and a half.

Chrome lined and 1-7 government twist barrel, parkerizing under the F block, milspec buffer tube, magnetic particle inspection of the barrel, staked gas key carrier group... some other things I can't remember at the moment.

Hammer forging isn't part of the mil requirement as far as I'm aware, but the industry trend has been to move in that direction. How many Bushmasters are actually 1-7 twist though? I live in CA, I can't buy a Bushmaster (nor would I want to but that's tangent) so I don't know much about their basic stats.

there's a difference between buying a better quality product than a product thats just a gimmick to make more money off the uninformed/immature/retarded/bandwagon jumping people.

slapping on green zmb letters doesn't make you a badass zombie hunter (something that doesn't even exist), doesn't make the gun look or function better, and only makes the person buying it look childish.

And then to charge a premium for that is beyond ridiculous. (yes I know YOU only paid $10 more in your case, but I have personally seen prices on regular gun vs zombie gun be WAY higher. As much as $100 that I have personally seen).

I see no point in spending even $1 more on something that looks tacky as hell compared to the original. And for that "tactical" lever action, ignoring the zombie stuff, it's tacky enough already.

I think the whole zombie craze in the firearms realm is fucking stupid and just jumping on the zombie bandwagon like everything else.

but apparently i'm not allowed to have an opinion while everyone else can on this forum.

It's on backwards.

Pic is too small for me to make it out. Sure it's actually an eotech? Some of the Aimpoint clones are 'backwards,' yet for whatever reason that is how they are designed. Not sure about eotech clones.

I hope that's it...I can blow up the picture but can't read the side so who knows...but you can clearly see the controls on the "front" of it.

I really doubt a police agency that can afford to buy multicam outfits for all their cops are in the market for China clones.

Having an opinion is fine. Calling someone a douchebag for having a different opinion when no insult was offered...

If you think, "Hey I think anyone paying a premium to own a special edition firearm is stupid."

Well that's gee golly great. Not everyone shares that same opinion and not everyone wants to be shooting an ugly but purely function black firearm.

Oh, and the reason I got the ZMB edition wasn't because I sought it out. I would have taken the regular SPX edition if I could have found it. However, finding either edition is darn near impossible.

But really, these are the differences between the Mossberg 464 SPX and the Mossberg 464 (or any other standard lever action rifle). Ghost sight + fiber optic sight. So basically nicer sights in my opinion. Some small 1913 rail sections for mounting things. Like lights or lasers. Since scope optics aren't really all that good to use on lever actions (mainly because of how the action works and where the spent cases are ejected), lasers for additional quicker sight acquisition aren't that bad of an idea.

The adjustable stock means I can shoot it, OR my girl can shoot it comfortably. Heck anyone can adjust it to their most comfortable length. So why not have an adjustable stock?

Oh and it's all black. Which is not a big deal. Finally, the barrel is just a tiny bit shorter and the over all length a little less. Makes using it in small places slightly easier as well as making it easier to store as a trunk gun or something like that.

That was why I was interested in the SPX model over a regular lever action. Oh, and it's cheaper too. Why pay over $1000 for a Winchester 94? Or over $600 for a Henry? Or over $450 for a Marlin or Rossi? $400 for what I got is quite the deal. The plain jane 464 model is even cheaper by about $50 bucks. Still I consider the functionality of what I was looking for in a "tactical" .30-30 caliber lever action worth that $50 over the plain jane model.

But to reiterate, people usually not only buy material items for pure function. Many people pay extra for any give class of material goods that not only performs the functions we want, but is comfortable while looking good to us too. If doing that is your definition of a douchebag.... well I can offer what the definition the rest of the world might call being a douchebag instead.

Some people are just tired of the zombie craze, think he went a bit overboard there though...

Personally I think that thing is ugly as sin with or without the letters, but if you like it:thumbsup:
