Here's an interesting use of a handgun, to shoot an antler off a pair on entangled bucks. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ALfV4tC1_fo

"As a proud supporter of PETA, I am appalled at this video. The officer should have comforted the deer prior to shooting at them," another commenter, Mark Dorencz, wrote.

Uhhh...seriously? Did this guy watch avatar too many times? Does he expect hunters to whisper to the prey they're about to shoot? Some people...

If women didn't wear shirts at the range, hot brass wouldn't get stuck under their shirts.

No shirts, or high neck shirts. Problem with "brass catchers" as demonstrated in FL.

MYAKKA CITY, Fla. (AP) — Authorities in Manatee County say no charges will be filed against a woman who accidentally shot her fiance in the leg at a gun range.
The couple was with a large group shooting at Manatee Gun and Archery Club in Myakka City on Saturday afternoon. The sheriff's office report says a casing flew from the woman's gun and landed inside her blouse, causing her to flinch. She bent over to get the casing out of her blouse when the gun accidentally fired.
The bullet hit the man in his right thigh, passing through his leg.
He was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The Sarasota Herald Tribune reports the shooting was ruled an accident after deputies interviewed witnesses at the gun range. The couple was not identified.

Have any of you guys ever been hit by a ricochet or bullet fragments?

Part of a 9mm fmj came back and hit me in the arm pit once. Don't know how it went right through the sleeve of my t shirt to hit my arm pit. Hurt like a mofo. I was shooting at an old brake rotor out in the woods.

Shotguns eh?
Benelli SuperNova, 18.5" barrel.

yes, once. i was watching an SASS shoot at a local range and got hit in the chest from a ricochet. Scared the shit out of me for a second. Hurt a little bt but didn't puncture anything. It was during winter too so i had a heavy coat on so that helped a bit.

I've gotten brass down my shirt, and it's not fun. But the overriding thing in my mind when it happened was "oh hell that hurts. Finger off trigger, gun down, go fishing for brass."

I've seen people do the "Oh hell that hurts, I'm reaching for it while covering the whole room with my finger on the trigger." Those people get kicked out, usually. But I also frequent Wades, where a spectator was shot in the head with a .44 magnum because someone lost control of the gun they were firing (first gun they ever fired was a .44, the boyfriend put her up to it, boyfriend was shot in the head as the gun flew up over the shooters head and pointed behind her.)

Guns can be dangerous. They can be safe, too, if handled right. No different than a power tool. I always remembered watching Norm Abrams Workshop on PBS back in the day, and every time he touched a power tool, he played the same canned "power tools should be handled correctly" clip - same thing applies to guns.

2 cases of 9mm arrived today, along with 1 case of 7.62x39, and 4 factory Glock magazines.

I'm picking up 20 windowed PMAGs tomorrow, paying a $2 premium per mag over the pre-panic price. Not bad.

Where are you guys finding ammo right now? I'd like to buy some 9mm, 500 if possible.. if not 100 I guess will do. Also looking for a speed loader, and some extra mags.

I got it for $25. Best money I ever spent, other than the $20 I spent on the same loader for my M-14.

As for ammo availability... midwayUSA had Sellier & Bellot 9mm in stock today @ $12.99 - for about two minutes. It comes and goes at various places. Palmetto State Armory has been decent lately. There's a bunch of ammo links on the prior page. Just need to keep looking, multiple times per day as stuff gets bought up almost immediately.

Nowhere. Am glad I had a little stash of 9mm before people started hoarding it.
However, I went out to the range today and noticed something. The 9mm I've been shooting isnt your basic round nose, its hollow point with grooves for expansion. I've been using up cheap man-stoppers in my target practice. Not quite as good as the Speers or Hornady's, but expensive regardless. Looks like I wont be able to practice for a little while.

Course then you have gun range owners who expose their workers to lead and then fire them for reporting it to the authorities......

But any brass down a shirt is annoying. Thankfully it never seems to happen to me (knock on wood) but i do end up with brass in the hood of my hoody or in my pockets.

That is a must. Best thing ever especially in mags with hard springs like my xds. putting five rounds in the mag sucks but with the uplala its quick and easy. They make one for .22's as well that i have and love it too. I have their AR one and its sort of meh. But AR mags are simple to load...but for unloading a mag it is awesome!

I used the loader glock included with my g21 and found it made things easier...maybe I'm just stubborn now but I just hand load my 1911 mags. Then again, for a 7 round mag is a loader worth it? I suppose one for my M1A would be nice though.

Loaders are meant for hi-cap double stack mags with heavy springs. I suppose they'd work on a 1911 mag, but pretty pointless IMO.

The Lula loader for the M-14/M1A is awesome. I actually think it's easier than the pistol loader. Plus you can unload a 20 round mag in about 5 seconds with it. Of course, with the price of .308 these days, perhaps the quick loading time isn't so good for me...

Been hit in the head by a .45 ACP at an indoor range. It's like someone chucked a rock at you, barely broke skin. After a 60+ yard round trip and smashing into the back wall there is little energy left.

Rifle rounds not so much. You can pretty much aim head on at the side of a rock face and the energy is so tremendous the round pretty much vaporizes.

I use it with my 10mm 1911. 8 rounders. I find it just easier and quicker, the mags arent always hard to load but i find it still easier with the speed loaders.

Thanks for the link! I called Dick's on Weds and they said they are getting a shipment in tomorrow. I am showing up at 9am when the doors open to try and be the first one in. I will be pissed if the shipment didn't come in time. I will probably just stack up and buy as much as I can as it seems like you need something barely short of a miracle to find some.

Anybody know where I could grab extra mags for an M&P9? 17 round would be nice. All the websites I tried are sold out 🙁
