jesus Kazaam you are over thinking this.

If you want to daily carry the CZ P-01 is your best bet, solid weapon...I really don't understand how the SP-01 stole it's thunder here.

The P-01 will be my sidearm soon.

If you are looking at home defense, fucking tommy gun.

My P-01 is the only pistol that I have that literally everyone seems to love the feel of. It just seems to fit virtually any person's hand like a glove.

It shoots quite nicely too. :)

This pistol turned be from higher calibers. I have worked a long time with gun lovers. Seeing full autos and tommy guns :) [I want a tommy gun].

These guys pack P-01's a lot they are who told me about it when I asked them for a personal carry weapon.

My life is changing, I willl be in harm's way more. I am still hoping to get by with my fists and maybe a knife or spray, but I am turning 42 next year. I think I will be ok...but a gun is becoming a real need I think.

They use special machining technology to get incredibly tight tolerances and uniform fitting. They've bragged (and demonstrated) that you can interchange slides from different models and they'll still function perfectly, no fitting required. In fact there's no hand-fitting throughout the entire process.

Yeah, they're a show piece, but if they're still around in a couple of decades one of their guns may be my midlife crisis buy lol.

Yup, tighter tolerances mean a more accurate shot, but it also means more mechanical errors, especially as powder residue builds up.

Do not automatically assume its better to have tighter parts. The most durable weapons actually have deliberately loose tolerances to account for real world abuse.

Shorty beat me to it. Tighter can be good, can be bad. Really, it's both. The original design allowed some wiggle room to prevent jamming from powder residue, dirt and whatnot. I'm fine with my DW being pretty tight, but that's because I keep it cleaned pretty well and don't expect to be dealing with sand flying around.

The tommy gun is a piss poor home defense weapon. You dont wanna spray bullets in your own house, and it jams a lot, even if its well maintained. And unjamming it in a tense situation is practically impossible. Even experienced soldiers in WW2 had a tough time with it.
Not to mention good 45 hollow points are damn expensive. If you wanna fill a couple magazines with them you are looking at serious cash. If you put regular target ammo in them you are likely to punch through walls which, again, is really bad for home defense.

Not to mention even bulk target 45 aint exactly cheap and you'd probably need about a thousand rounds to get comfortable with the thing so you could actually use it effectively when your adrenaline gets pumping.

I dont think I've ever seen worse advice for home defense in my life.

Taurus Judge.

Me personally, I feel safer sleeping at night with an AR-15 by my bed and two 30 round PMAGs taped together. Then even if some gangbangers kick in my door at oh-dark-thirty mistaking me for Mr. Druggie a few doors down, I have a fighting chance.

Its Alky. Is there anyone here who doesn't take his advice with a salt shaker? A Tommy gun could be quite effective in the home defense role but is ultimately impractical for most. That said they are damn cool.

The best choices for home defense are pretty much a decent caliber handgun or shotgun. Handgun gives versatility and maneuverability, properly loaded shotgun gives a one shot stop. Carbines are essentially a compromise. They lack both the maneuverability of a handgun and the stopping power of a shotgun, and are relatively more expensive to train on.

You might as well purchase a PPSh with a drum mag...It actually MIGHT be only few thousands - fully auto

LOL so pathetic talking about a Tommy Gun as a defense weapon. Most of you clowns probably carry concealed weapons which are garbage.

You would not be able to defend yourself from a thug.

Doesn't matter. The targets are still stationary, and well all know training on stationary targets is useless. That's why the American military trains exclusively on live prisoners, makes them the best soldiers in the world. Why did you think America has such a high prison population? Why do you think Obama didn't shut down Guantanamo bay? Lol stupid American gun nuts. They should just give their guns to the government like Europe unless they have live targets to practice on. You won't have the guts to shoot someone threatening your family until you've shot a live prisoner.

I bought a Marlin 795 about a month ago. 5000 rounds down, and I had my first misfire today.

Highly recommended for people who want a super cheap plinker.

I have a P-01 that I got for CC. Its a very nice gun, very comfortable. Sure, you can find other guns that are lighter and smaller, but it's all about what you want/need/are comfortable with.

You might be sacrificing quality, price, ergonomics, caliber, etc in getting something smaller. It's all a tradeoff.

What rounds though? 77 grain will go through walls. Personally, I've got my 1911 easily available, and my shotgun is also available. Though I store the 1911 chambered/safetied, I store the shotgun loaded/unchambered/no safety. I'd got for my shotgun before any rifle I own, and I'd prefer my shotgun to my 1911 for home defense.

As for the Judge....never recommend anything my by Taurus... :)
