Honestly, I think you should have figured out a way to pick her up. I think it's ridiculous that you pull the "I've been drinking and can't make it" nonsense. If you're in a committed relationship, it's you that she should be able to count on first and foremost. I wouldn't even excuse a distant friend as you so easily did with your girlfriend.

Also, in my experience, that's just the way women are. They have certain expectations, and sometimes they might even be a bit irrational. There's nothing wrong with being accommodating, even if you have to go out of your way.

Yeh, maybe you're right.

I dunno. She was just being such a bit$h on the phone, and she pretty much hung up right away. She really didn't give me a chance to help.

You don't have to be drunk to not be able to drive. He could've been over the legal limit and then well under if he waited 2 hours. Even an hour could put him under the limit.

I wasn't drunk at the time. I had stopped drinking. I just don't like driving with alcohol in my system. I was going to drive over there in an hour or so once I was sober.

ya, i have a problem with this too. I don't see how the hour or so between when you should have picked her up and when you planned on visiting makes any difference. If you respected her, and wanted to be with her, you would have picked her up. Just admit it to yourself, and move on, I suppose.

laaaaame.

We are both at work, and when I try to talk to her on the phone and knock some sense into her she usually just ends up hanging up. She honestly cannot take blame--she just blocks it out.

1 hour can mean the difference between nothing happening or a license revocation and thousands of dollars in attorney fees.

Two people in a realtionship is always testing each other to see what the other is willing to do, get away with, and test boundaries. This case she wanted to make sure you were a bad guy for drinking and not being able to pick her up. No fault to your own (and you shouldn't have gone if you were drinking...) But she is deciding to make this an issue to let you know you shouldn't be drinking... That is what she is trying to tell you. The fact that she is creating this scenario to tell you that is a bit out of line.

Maybe we feel differently about drinking and driving. A good friend of mine killed someone last week. At this point, I don't drive if I can feel any buzz. An hour would have made a difference in this case.

Please note, police have started giving out reckless driving to people who drink and are under the legal limit. I was 0.047 (nearly half the legal limit) and they gave me a reckless driving a year ago. They also threw my ass in detox and are attempting me to pay $1500 for detox as well... Being 0.000 is really the only smart choice today. Good job with your conviction.

ie: he couldn't be bothered with picking her up,but when he was done drinking and socializing he'd have driven over there to let her suck him off.

Sorry but if he'd cancelled his plans entirely to having had too much to drink,I could go along with him.

Just curious, but the person you were having dinner and drinks at your place with, were they female? I wonder if that might have something to do with her attitude.

Let me get this straight; she's mad because you were a responsible drinke and NOT a moron who risked getting into an alcohol-induced accident?

Wow are you nuts?

I was eating dinner with my roomate, it's not like I was at a party. I had stopped drinking. When I had sobered up completely, I was going to come over.

That is it.

Don't you realise how that sounds?

oh,walk home honey,if I'm sober later I'll come over... that sounds horrible, you should have simply cancelled the entire evening.

It really sounds like there are some issues pre-dating, and building up to this event that will either force a change in the relationship or a break-up.

So he should just wait around the phone in case she needs a ride? Please. That's ridiculous.

Bah, come on man. How old are you (that was a rhetorical question; I know how old you are)? Find a friend to pick her up. Get a cab. Do something...

I agree it's a lot of drama for a simple issue, but you sounded awfully flippant about it. Maybe I'm whipped and giving the woman too much credit though.

if a guy told me to walk home,in the dark but that he'd pop in later if he felt up to it,I'd feel like a cheap booty call. He'd have been better off simply telling her he'd had too much to drink, apologizing and taking a rain check on their date.

"I get a call from her at about 8:30. I had been home with my roomate--we had made spaghetti and we were both drinking wine. I wasn't drunk, but I had had too much to drive. "

Read this part again. She called after he had already been drinking.
