A lunch date does not mean friendship only. You've already been sitting with this girl in your Physics class so you are already acquainted with her. If she didn't want to be more friendly with you then she probably wouldn't have taken you up on your lunch offer.

Just stop worrying about everything. Go to lunch with her. Be yourself. Let things go from there.

Definitely correct. I ended up dating a girl I went on something like a lunch date with. Although as you can probably tell, I'm not dating her anymore if that means anything 😛.

I asked a girl in one of my classes if she wanted to go to the library to work calculus problems with me, you should have seen the look on her face when she turned me down, bad day for my chances of getting laid from any woman in that class, got into a discussion with the prof about Maple versus Mathematica.

My TI-89 can graph just about aaaaaaanything.. I even used it to calculate the chance of you going to the liiiiibrary with me *snort*.

Sorry, I just got a Steve Urkle-esque impression in my head from that.

Try to pay for her lunch. If she insists to pay for her own lunch then your future with her doesn't look very good.

Edit: I take this back. It's too early for anything to mean anything.

Yeah, definitely not necessarily true (as you also stated). Some women just have that strong mentality that they don't want you to live in some Victorian era (avoid these, we call them "feminists") or they simply believe a relationship or similar thing should be a two-way street and that both should pay. But even on that last idea, she may let you pay this time but pick up the tab next time.

And she said yes. I'll probably walk to her side of the campus and go to a restaurant over there. So I have some questions:

It's just casual and not really a date (though I wish it was, I'm not sure how interested she is), so we should pay our own ways?

I'm not a very talkative guy and pretty shy, I know I'll run out of stuff to talk about and start saying dumb stuff. What should I try to start some conversations yet?

Any advice for not f*cking this up? 😉

UPDATE for those who want pics: First picture I have taken of me and her, I'll post.

Stop thinking like that, and just be yourself. If you say dumb stuff, then laugh it off. No big deal. Like you said, it is casual.

Find out what her political leanings are and take the other side. Should liven up the conversation nicely.

I'm sure it's already been covered, but if not PLEASE LISTEN.

Pay for this lunch! You asked her. If you are going to haggle over a few bucks extra for lunch (not saying you will) then just forget it. If she wants to do something again next time let her pay her way. In fact, on your first lunch she may even offer to pay. DECLINE at first, be the gentleman, but do say "don't worry, I got you this time, you can get me next 😉".

Second, how can you possibly run out of stuff to talk about? She's a woman, most of them love to talk! Seriously though, you're looking at it the wrong way. you don't want to worry about what you're going to SAY, rather worry about what you'll ASK her.

Just ask questions, lots of questions....she'll fill in the blanks. "So what's your major? Goals after school? Hobbys? etc., etc.".

Good luck!

Update and let us know how it went!

Be witty/funny with your comments/questions.
Since it's not even a date don't offer to pay for her stuff, pay for her food on a date...women want equality, they shouldn't get free food damn it!
Be nice, open doors for her, offer to help her with anything that she is carrying, blah blah blah.

goodluck.

Worst date ever!

Don't ever settle for lunch, you need to be the night date.

Lunch=friendship

Actually a lunch date is a non-threatening way to get a chance to spend some time with a girl you do not know very well. Nothing wrong with them. If after the lunch date you cannot secure an evening date then that tells you what you need to know.

Agreed, my first date with my GF was a lunch date. We were both a little hung over, but had a great lunch and ended up making plans for the following weekend.

My wife and I met through mutual friends. we ran into each other over lunch in the union and started talking. It quickly became a regular wednesday lunch date, and soon we were going out on Friday and Saturday too. Just relax and don't be intimidated.

Whenever I go out with a girl to lunch or dinner or whatever, even if its not a date and we are just friends, i always pay for the meal. Its just easier that way.

Ohh, lunch date = friends zone...

QFT If you were already dating her that would be one thing, but if this is the first time you are doing something with her and its over lunch, it almost always means you are stuck in the friend zone.

uhh, I got laid more after lunch dates than any other. After lunch there isn't a whole lot to do so just take her back to your place and have some sex.

This is also key as to why you should pay.

pay for her lunch
she says she'll pay for her own
tell her no and tell her that she owes you lunch
