Hey anyone needs to buy a mustang gt or mazda rx8, PM me. I'm a good reliable referral source for xplan. I still got a few left.

Personally I like the RX8 better, but its a difficult car for the general population to appreciate. Its ugly, its not that quick, and its expensive. But its a fun car to drive. Its very forgiving, well balanced, and extremely practical for a sports car.

That said, the black mustang, w/red leather convertible GT, is a beautiful car.

Either one, your choice. Let me know.

I drove a Mustang GT and honestly was dissapointed, it was the Roush version if that matters at all. Anyway, the plastics and things in general just felt cheap, didn't really enjoy it.

In terms of power, I think it should come with a better transmission and be lighter.

I have a question then. Assuming the Mustang GT goes for about 27k right now, how much do you think I can get a used Mustang GT for in say 3-6 months? (After the 06 mustang comes out?)

No one has any idea?

mid to lower twenties. It'll take a while for GT's to come down, especially with all of the hype around them. You can take that to the bank.

Yeah, best bet is to wait...with the shortages of GT's...in some areas, I've seen quite a few stealerships selling them used in the low 30's....that's retarded! ...that's for the coupe and not the 'vert even!

Try to get a Ford X-Plan pin...shouldn't be to hard to get, employees are getting bonuses for giving them out. Just go to a mustang forum and ask for one. The best thing is you don't have to use it to buy the 'stang, you can get the RX-8 with it too, since Mazda is under the Ford employee plan program. You could probably buy a RX-8 off the lot with the X-plan, but if you want the Mustang, you'll have to order an '06....very few dealerships
are letting them go off the lot at X-Plan prices.

Woah, Im not familiar with what this x-plan is? Is that something similar to the employee discount that Ford offers on some vehicles ? (Not the Mustans though :( )

Yes..the X-Plan is the Ford Employee Friends and Neighbor plan...there is no restriction on getting a new Mustang - that's how I got mine. See here :
http://www.ford.com/en/vehicles/vehicleFinancing/discountOffersPrograms/axz.htm

Join The Mustang Source Forum: http://forums.bradbarnett.net and ask around. Try other
'stang forums as well.

How much off would you expect to get on a standard GT?

bump
The site that has the price guide is down :(
I got a fully loaded coupe with 5-spd manual for something like $26.5k (TTL not included)
I believe the X-Plan is dealer invoice + 2% + $150 processing fee.

The options are Ford and Ford...

it's my understanding that Mazda acts as a completley autonomous unit that is simply entitled to dip into ford's technology bin as it pleases.... whats the point of reinventing the wheel on things like keyless entry?

my gf's brother's keyless entry on his Tibute, the keyless on my Mustang and the keyless on the father's Grand Marquis are all compatible

Mazda's only real autonomy is in exterior/interior design. Otherwise, they use Ford platforms and drivetrains across the board, except for the Miata and RX8.

Convertibles are for girls. RX-8's are for morons (Go start one up cold and look at the smoke that pukes out the back)

are you sure you drove a 2005 GT they are WAY up on power this year from the last 5 years...
they are brutal compared to last years stang stock...
very very very quick 13.0 12.9 in 1.4 mile stock this year..
thats a quick car...

most of the Roush are older models.. we are talking about the 2005 with the 300 hp stock motor...
a roush convserion on a 2005 would be VERY stout... being that most kits change the heads/exhaust and add a super charger... which would pout a 2005 solidly into the 400+ hp range.

Honestly, I don't know what some peeps were expecting from 'stangs...they were never meant to be luxo-cruisers like your Acura's/BMW's/Lexus...it was always about cheap horsepower. It's hard to find that performance for that kind of price unless Chevy/Pontiac ressurect the Camaro/Firebirds.

As far as the tranny's - I've heard that there is a noticable throttle lag in the auto's because of the drive-by-wire setup...it can be overridden with a flash mod. I've got the 5-spd manual - it's a Tremec 3650 that can easily handle 450 HP's without any mods, and I'm happy with it.

I agree when the top is up - it looses the 'fastback' look of the coupe. Otherwise it looks great when the top is down....the RX8 on the other hand looks half-assed :D

I put 750 hp behind my 93 coupes tremec..
347 stroker TFS heads with an S trim Vortech blower 9 second car..
ford has always had issues with thier AOD it sucks ass...

and thier 5 speed while good for stock needs a tremec upgrade for high HP racing applications.

RX-8 for sure. Too bad I'm married and whipped and got an Altima instead.

But if I was single... I would probably still be too much of a cheap-@ss

Here's the 2006 Price guide: http://bradbarnett.net/mustangs/timeline/05/06/pricelist620.pdf

Ooh thanks good stuff. Are they changing much in the new 06? Any reason I should want an 05 over an 06 or visa versa?

Very little differnece mechanicaly between the '05 and '06. The '06 has a tire pressure sensor added, and there are 2 or 3 different 18" wheel options to choose from that wasn't available yet in '05. Everything else is the same. The only reason to really get the '06 now is that they have already started production. You would only be able to get and '05 now if the dealer already has it in their lot. From what I've heard, most dealers won't take X-Plans for GT's on the lot...but will let you order one under the X-Plan. YMMV...good luck, let us know what you end up with, and of course...PICS! :D
