Actually Dell and Newegg did not pull out of the promotion, Paypal did. All the funds allotted to the e-tailers were used up. If Paypal listed the store on their promotion page on their website at the time of your purchase, then you will get the 20% off. If you purchased the card when the store was not listed on Paypal's promotion page, you will not get the 20% off. I can confirm this through www.eggxpert.com chat with Newegg employees.

You know... that's not far from being believable.

Dell's and Paypal's handling of this whole paypal promotion has been obscure and cryptic at best all day long. Nobody seems 100% sure what items qualified, nobody seems to have received a clear indication if their getting the 20% off when they checked out using paypal, and nobody is sure when or if Dell has pulled the plug on it yet.

Way to go Dell and Paypal!

Regardless of what Newegg employees stated, the terms of service state if the PayPal promotion was displayed on the vendors website, then the 20% discount was valid.

4. Offer Period: Offer starts on November 26, 2007 at 12:00:01 am Pacific Time and is available for a limited time only. Offer is only available as long as the merchant?s website indicates that the 20% cash back promotion is offered, but no later than December 10, 2007 11:59:59 pm Pacific Time.

PayPal better follow through with our Dell discounts.

In the 8 years I have been signed up with PayPal I have never had a good experience. Not once... From the "Premier" account crap, to their fantastic "seller protection" policy to things like this. I have always wanted a reason to finally close my account.

Nice counter Engineer, but take a look at the promo terms and conditions https://www.paypal-promo.com/holiday/terms_slider.html

8. Restrictions: PayPal reserves the right to cancel, suspend or modify part or this entire offer at any time without notice, for any reason in its sole discretion. This offer cannot be resold or transferred.

Don't get me wrong, I would love to pick up one of these 8800GTs if I was certain that the promo was still valid.

How easy is it to cancel an order from Dell.com? I might just do it and cancel if Paypal won't honor the 20%.

I don't think it's alive right now. However, I have read where others are stating that PayPal pulled the Dell deal at 12 noon (PST) but didn't update their site until 4 hours later. That's bullcrap and they know it. I guess we'll see if they honor it or not. I may write them and if the won't honor it, I'll cancel my damn order! :|

The big problem is that . . . If there is a dispute, how would anyone easily prove that their Dell purchase qualified for the rebate?

paypal will have to post a time when the deal expired... if you have a order response from before then, they honor it...

if they screw around, we all cancel our orders and dell will be pretty ticked, methinks...

Well, you've got me there. I didn't know that there were any restrictions of what could be bought. I took screenshots of the sites before placing my order and have the timestamped e-mails from Dell and Paypal as to when the order was placed (approximately).

its the second orange box on the top (might need to scroll down a bit).

so they can kiss my shiny metal ya if theyre note going to honor this.

I don't see it there. Maybe you have it in your browser cache?

Have to manually click to electronics and accessories. Which begs the question... which electronics and accessories OI

Now I see it on the Dell site.

I called PayPal and after sitting on hold for 30 minutes was finally able to talk to someone. They initially claimed the discount was $20 not 20%. After about 30 minutes of discussion they agreed it was 20%. I asked them to confirm that my order (placed at 12:45PM PST) was eligible for the discount and she said yes. I asked her for an e-mail confirmation and she said they do not send those but I can call back if there is an issue.

I'm glad I didn't go for this one. I have a funny feeling that lots of folks just bought an XFX 8800 GT for $235 + tax.

The PP offer now puts you in the "Dell Home & Home Office" instead of the Dell website which does not have the card.

The real question is, when will they really receive their vid card? I too pulled out after guesssing there is no way they have that many cards. Plus I didnt see anything about a 50 dollar rebate. Good luck to you all
