Charged or preauthorized? My credit card was never charged on my two orders, just preauthorized. I know Bank of America shows preauthorizations like charges.

Well I wouldn't call my card exactly a credit card, more like a check card. The funds were already taken out of my bank.

But has anyone actually gotten theirs shipped yet? Dell's stock system has to be the worst around. "In production" for an item thats pre-boxed should either be INSTOCK or OOS.

Mine still says:

In Production
Upon approval of payment for your order, the order will be In Production. Production time includes obtaining the parts, assembly or build time, and shipping preparations/transit to the carrier. Shipping preparations will vary based on type of order and size.

Well, I looked at some of the charges to my account. Looks like the "preauthorized" Dell charge has now disappeared, though my order still shows on their site. I will be severely pissed if they make me reorder at the ~$250 price.

don't worry about that, the preauthorization expires. i've bought several computers from dell, and they always do the same thing. they don't charge your account until the item is about to ship

Like many have said, I'm always wary of PayPal given their commitment to customer concerns like privacy and so on. Overall though, I find myself thinking that $250 for a lifetime warranty 8800GT that's hard to find isn't bad, and waiting two weeks to get it is fine by me. Received my order confirmation at 12:48PM EST so I'm willing to go to war with Dell and PayPal, but it seems like a decent deal either way. Good luck everyone. Also...

Latest update is that some people have managed to "upgrade" their shipping or receive store credit after a lot of complaining. YMMV though.

Actually the first day or so of the deal being up that was not there. There was no indication of it being OOS or anything when I ordered which was when the deal first appeared. I don't know how long it took to get that changed.

I complained and got next day shipping on the card when it does ship, assuming I don't find a better deal with an instock card in the meantime, in which case I'll be cancelling the Dell order.

I got in on this pretty early and when I check online it still says I have a ship date of 12/10, but I called to check and was told it won't ship until 12/20.

Wow, really? I might have to look at a different solution. 10th is fine, but any time after that just isnt gonna do it. Ive waited all semester to finally play through all these games and I probably wont get the damn card till after christmas.
