Gamecube -> 1st gen system worked when I sold it 6 months ago

Original PSX -> had to replace
Various PS2 system -> One still works
Two X-Box systems ->One still works

Nintendo FTW!

Word. I have yet to run into an NES, SNES, Gameboy or N64 that has failed. The Gamecube we have in the house has problems now and then, but my housemate bought it off eBay for really cheap, so I think it was abused or something.
My NES and Gameboy color just failed one day... (kept in very good condition) and my original Gamecube was defective but the new one I got hasn't given me any problems.

being ethical gets you the square root of sod all. to get what you want ethics must go out the window.

i would try the switch if thats what he's doing and to hell with making things more expensive for everyone else by getting one over on MS who lets be honest wont even notice $400 in their accounts. i want the product i payed for and i want it now, not next week

Explain to me how exactly you're sticking it to MS by stealing an Xbox off the shelves of Walmart or Best Buy? MS already got its money when Walmart and Best Buy paid it for their stock of Xboxes. I'm willing to bet that your twisted Robin Hood sense of entitlement isn't going to garner a lot of sympathy from the general public. And if you were caught stealing, I'm pretty sure that 12 of your peers would convict you on your attitude alone.

Most people dont know that when MOTHERFVCKERS like you do this kinda ****** to wal-mart and BB, it comes from the employees and fellow shoppers pockets, not Wallies. This is the kinda stuff that takes away from the employee's year end bonus. I hope you rot in hell u piece of dirt!

You weren't using one of those intercoolers were you? there have been many people saying that's what killed their 360 in the first place...

Yes folks, I got a new 360 and I'm not in PMITAP (sorry ;) ).

And I did it totally legally and totally legit. I'd tell you how, but then you wouldn't be able to continue judging me, so please continue... I'm gonna go play NCAA '07 :p .

My brother's 360 got the red ring of death today and its now kaput. My first 360 died 3 months ago and my friend is on his third 360. So far I haven't had any problems with my current 360 and hopefully it'll stay that way.

If you did it legally, you would have told us.

Or, option B: I don't give a sh|t what you guys think. If I describe what I did as legit, you'll call me a liar. If I tell you something that's not legit, then you'll want me hung for eating babies. The truth of the matter is that the REAL story is pretty uninteresting, but it's lose/lose with you guys, so fsck the lot of you. All that matters to me at this point is that I'll be playing GoW on Tuesday :p .

Some of you wanted to assume the worst and feel all righteous, so I let you. You should be thanking me :p .

I feel your pain. The main purpose behind this whole thread was simply to rant and bitch about how unbelievable the failure rate is with these 360's. I'm running this one with a Pelican thingamajig, so hopefully no problems. I did break down and buy a service agreement though.

The thread wasn't about me telling a nice little story about how I got a replacement 360. It was to rant about the shoddy reliability of the systems.

well i think that who cares about the manufacturers and the money they are loosing and the inflation of prices regardless of what you did to make your way with a broken peice of crap from the monopolysoft. inflation goes up every single year regardless. your going to buy it regardless of the price. i think you are right that it broke and you should be reinbursed. its called mainstream products. and technology is moving so fast its fking rediculous. seriously, the top of the line is superceded months later. it used to take a year to move 20mhz on a processor, now there is core after core, so when you spend your money, its going to be old in a month. get used to it. i work hard everyday for every penny i make and if a company cant make a product that can stand up longer than a warranty for over 30% of all REGISTERED buyers then there should be more ppl getting together to fight in lawsuits.

i say find a little shop that will fix your xbox and give him 50 bucks to save face. and if his fix fails, you can fight him instead of microsoft.

Some site did a review on the two cooling solutions (Pelican Fan Stand and the Nyko Intercooler) and it said that both did a decent job of cooling things down. Of course, you can't run the two together because the Intercooler changes the vertical footprint. However, with all of the recent news surrounding the Intercooler and its tendency to permanently mate with your 360, I think Nyko could make a fairly simple change. Instead of piggybacking off the 360's power outlet, just "lop" that section of the Intercooler off, give it its own dedicated plug, and bingo: no more fried 360's (no, I was not running one on my original 360) and you'd be able to run both solutions together.

Of course Microsoft has blessed neither of these devices: they recommend the 360 be used horizontally (makes sense) so that rules out the Fan Stand getting official approval, and the Intercooler is VERY hard on the Xbox due to how it connects. Maybe they'll grace us with a first party solution at some point.

Well you know a ton of ppl are going to walmart and swapping parts with a new console....

It sad how we get a 3 month warranty and over seas they get a 1 year warranty.

I think the reality is that the 360 is going to have to undergo some sort of design update. Whether or not the 65nm process will cure the heat issues remains to be seen, but the fact is that there are enough 360's dying - within warranty no less - that it's going to cost MS a lot of money. Not that this is a scientifically sound statistic, but I'm personally aware of more defunct 360's than I am of ones that are operating properly. I honestly think there are more people having problems with them than there are who are not.

Yeah i had the same problem and mine was about 7 months old. I called MS and they were like well was in a cool place and i said the same thing u did pretty much im not supposed to ahve to do all of this b/s to play on a console, and they reregistered it and i had to shipp it to them, i got it back a week and ahalf later stating we are sorry to inform you but we had to replace your orginal 360... Upon reading this is was pissed b/c i thought all my data would be gone and acheivements, but they people at MS transferred my data to a new hd and sent me Perfect Dark Zero for all my trouble.... THUMBS UP FOR ONCE ON MS CUSTOMER SUPPORT. BUT THUMBS DOWN ON RELIABILTY OF THE CONSOLE.... AND TO YOU jbourne77 I HOPE TO SEE U ON XBOX LIVE FOR GEARS OF MUTHER F*CKING WAR>>>>WOOOOTTT.

Negatory. I'd put it in the trash before I did that. I'm not willing to spend $150 every 3 months or so just to keep one of these suckers up and running. Paying for repairs on a 360 is just chasing bad money IMO.
