Oh I thought it was just another opportunity to promote Nvidia's 2 big features since the 5950 ultra - sm 3.0 and texture shimmering. Now that I think about it, was very funny, nice one!

X actually means 10, so X100 is 10100. Not THAT bad compared to 10900 if you look at it that way.
Also, I always thought GTO meant GT overclocked.

Sheesh, Ronnn. They've said they've isolated the problem and are working on it.
At the settings you run at with 7800s the "problem" is barely noticeable, I actually had to look for it.
Notice how only one German website brought this to light? Why weren't Anand, H, B3d, FS, Extreme Tech etc. all putting "OMG! nVidia's new GPU is unusable!" in their reviews, or even mentioning it? Maybe they didn't even notice it?
It concerned me that German article used 10X7 8X AF Quality benchmarks of UT2004 to test this, why such a low end setting that you would never use with a 7800? Even someone with a 19" LCD can do 12X10, so I set it to one 7800GTX, 12X10 4X MS AA, 16X AF, High Quality, and played three outdoor levels of UT2004.
Know what I found? Framerates in the 80-120 range. Shimmer in 1/3 levels, in a couple spots, that I wouldn't have even noticed if I was actually playing the game instead of running/driving around looking at the ground.
The R300 had this issue at first as well, I believe due to the angle dependent AF IIRC. If ATIs driver team can solve it, I'm sure nVidia's can figure it out as well.
As usual, you take any little driver issue nVidia has and harp on it like it's a deal breaker when it's barely noticeable to most. You could use a better hobby.

How many more times is ATI going to walk all over themselves!? This is getting ridiculous.
Release the next gen cards already.

So where is the problem? Ati is just dumping chips (at great prices) in preparation for next gen. If rumour is correct the lower range next gen is ready for release. Some of these editions are going to turn into great overclockers and may even be moddable, but if the nvidia types don't like them, well don't buy them or if it makes you happy flame them. Some of us more than one generation back may appreciate a budget card that rocks with todays games. :music:

So im an Nvidia fan boy because ATI has released the same product at least 4 times. We have the X800 Vanilla, X800GT, X800GTO; stop releasing these cards again and again and focus on the new cards!!!
As for the more than one generation back.... please notice that i am running a card 2 generations back, so dont tell me what i should appreciate.
As i said this is ridiculous. No on cares about rereleasing an old product again and again (and im not referring to the R3x/4x core), release the product that people have been wanting for the past 3 months. Release the product that is going to make a helluva lot more money than this crap.
If you didn't notice, it seems that even Kristopher Kubicki is getting fed up with this constant rereleasing.

SO dump it in the form of one chip. Dont make 432283400 different names for one product and keep releasing them.

LOL, if you guys think that is ridiculous, Intel is launching a 945GT chipset soon too. I will probably publish an Intel roadmap later today.

Ronnn what are you trying to argue. No one here can deny that ATI is walking all over themselves here. Sure release these new parts, to increase sales and get rid of old stock; but all the while you are killing sales on your other cards. You cannot argue that ATI is making a stupid move here.

This is not about selling cards for good prices. They have renamed the chip over and over again. By trying to increase sales and empty inventory they are killing sales of their other components because they have so many cards that are within 1-2% of each other.
Think about this, i dont see how you can possibly attempt to argue this point.

I think the range is a little higher than 1 - 2%, especially when taking oc potential into account. If you think Ati is stupid, well offer to solve their problems. For us consumers the issue is $'s for performance and these new sku's are certainly competative. Really I am not argueing if Ati has too many models, mainly because I don't care. To repeat my interest is in $'s for performance.
