OK BACK ON TOPIC!!!

Looks like 10k is NOTHING for the X1xxx series!

A software bug prevented the cards from clocking over 875mhz or so core speed.

1000/1000 HAS BEEN BROKEN ON THE X1800XT!!!!

http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=77179

The artifacts are from the RAM. Sampsa hinted that 1000mhz core was EASY. He didn't even use LN2 (he was on DI), and only did a SLIGHT VMOD.

Yeah I bet it would be easy having access to a cherry picked card with a special ATi tool that allows voltage changes (which nobody else has access to)! ;)

With ATIs tools, special edition cards, vmods, under ultra cooling behind a person, I imagine 10K is feasible.

Yeah seems quite reasonable for the average person to pull this off when the card finally materializes. I mean, who doesn't have an LN2 kit and special ATi tool these days?

Dude, I have 3 under my desk gathering dust. I wish ATI would stop sending them.

I've heard they're going to give a gift certificate for this stuff with XTs.

In any case, what's the big deal? Toms X1800XT at stock was at 9228? That seems like a pretty impressive 3DMark without the ATI assist?

Hey Einstein. We don't need you to imagine that 10K is feasible, because it's already been achieved, per the subject of this thread. The 1K/1K overclock will be pushing 12-13K I'm sure. I know that probably doesn't impress you, but then I doubt anyone here cares whether you are impressed or not.

It's unfortunate when poorly raised children get to run their mouths in adult conversations.

Ah, so that was a conversation you were having? You and Joker exchanging your smug little quips, doing your best to crap on this thread. You are definately not the one to be talking about maturity levels. If you no longer have anything constuctive to contribute in this thread, then I suggest you take your little attempt at comedy somewhere else.

What smug quips? We were agreeing with you that this is a remarkable and quite feasible achievement that could be emulated by the average joe. Today when I opened up my box of Cheerios, a certificate for a free LN2 kit fell out of it!

I think folks are going to need to get a grip that once the X1800XT is here with mature drivers and tools it will be faster than the GTX in D3D and equal in OGL for about the same money after several weeks on the market.

The X1800XL launched when they said it would. X1800XT are available to reviewers and overclockers leading me to believe that it will come out on Nov 5th and ATI will have provided a HARD date for once.

As enthusiasts we should all enjoy it when someone breaks a barrier like that (1000/1000). Its fun - unlike the current rampant fanboyism.

Both of you keep attacking this idea that the average user is going to get 10K+ scores, when in fact that's not what this thread was all about. This thread was about a demonstration of the overclocking abilities of the card in the hands of professional overclockers... nothing more. Unfortunately you're so eager to grasp at any reason to crap on the thread, you refuse to see that.

Well hallelujah for that! So about 4 months later it will finally be released and then another 2-3 weeks later it will start declining in price? Couple that with a 1k/1k barrier that was finally shattered by a cherry picked, volted, LN2 card things are really looking up! Hmm I hope my wife didn't throw away that LN2 certificate I found in my Cheerios box, I'm going to need that when I buy an X1800XT and achieve 10k!

No, I'm right alongside with you celebrating, brother! This is a monumental achievement for overclockers and the average joe. It's not like that thing called SLI hasn't completely shattered the 10k barrier already or anything..pfft. I feel like putting on my red ATi jammies (signed by Dave Orton himself) and jumping in joy, that's how excited I am! Anyway, as long as ATi keeps withholding the voltage tool from end users, then I don't see what there is to be excited about? Instead of doing PR 3dmark05 stunts, they should be focusing on their customers that are actually buying these shoddy cards and finding out that the things are mini nuclear reactors.

No one is attacking anything or anyone Morph.

I personally doubt average users are going to get 10K scores, at least without their computer bursting into flames as the already hot and OCd X1800XT spontaneously combusts, but time will tell.

You know, if I had a buck for every time I said "Time will tell" about ATI products this year, I could probably pay for the primo barley wine style ale I bought on my way home from fishing this afternoon.

Did you guys read the article the OP linked to? Let me help you out if you haven't. Here is a direct quote:

"A computer enthusiast from Taiwan has obtained 10195 points in popular Futuremark 3DMark05 benchmarking suite using a RADEON X1800 XT graphics card. Utilizing only stock cooling, sxs112 overclocked the product to 691MHz for graphics processor (up from 625MHz) and 1628MHz for memory (up from 1500MHz). While the reached frequencies weren?t so impressive, considering stock frequencies, the total score overtook psychological barrier of 10 000 points.

Another well-known enthusiast from Finland decided to replace the stock cooling on RADEON X1800 XT with Zalman CNPS-7000Cu microprocessor cooler. Macci had to raise VPU voltage by +0.15V above default. Since Zalman?s cooler also provided additional cooling for memory chips, RADEON X1800 XT graphics card topped at impressive 759/1738MHz for chip/memory. Macci achieve 10770 points in 3DMark05, an unbelievable figure for single card configurations".

Yup, looks like some exotic cooling to me. :disgust:

Are you an average user?
Do you break 10K?

No insult intended here just food for thought.
(I'm a little tired of waiting myself and I can't even use one ;) )

Yes. I do with two cards, but I have the resources to do so with one.

They were talking about the 1GHz/1GHz OC on the X1800, not the 10K 3DM05 score.

Edit: typos. It's too damn late for me. Nappy time, here I come! gszzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzih

Well it appeared like you were talking about breaking the 10k barrier in general, which from the original post, looked like it was quite feasable on air cooling.

Maybe it just me but I'm definetely seeing 10k mentioned in both posts.
