How fitting that the guy's name is Vapor. He doesn't provide any proof for his claim.

Look at the ORB, there are plenty of single card 10k+ results for the 7800.

http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dm05=1029604

etc.

I'm curious, M0RPH. What does crow taste like?

Apparently they need to do some sort of LOD tweaking to get that result. Wonder how bad this screws up image quality. It's cheating really. Not really a fair comparison to the XT's score. Never tasted crow so I couldn't tell ya bout that.

Search the orb. There are pages and pages of people who have over 11,000 even... with approved drivers.

Yeah, they didn't have to "tweak" anything for the XT to reach over 10K either.

They overclocked and cooled it... they didn't cheat in the driver. I can cheat in the driver and get 10k with my X800 on an approved driver.

So you're saying that this X1800XT got over 10,000 by cheating in the driver? Makes sense.

I dont see why you guys are so impressed.
I dont see you guys celebrating when the Sli'd 7800GTXs broke the 17K barrier

What im not impressed is quantity. I live in New Zealand, and it took 2 week after the X1 series launch for me to actually FIND a X1800 XL at GTX price. You guys seem to forget supply in united states isnt everything. (note cant find X1300 and X1600 series)

When Nvidia released the 7 series, it was on the list even before the 7 series launch date. Same with the GT. Available straight away.

And plus, a single GTX card did broke the 10k barrier. Go check the 3dmark05 rankings if your so impressed

Then do it. And post the URL... I want to see it.

There's a lot of questionable crap in the orb. My guess is the author of the original article was only taking into account well-documented and verifiable cases. Anyway, you may be right that the GTX can score over 10K, I really don't know. Your issue is more with the writer of this article than me. I was just going by what was written in the article for the purposes of the discussion here.

You know what the man is saying so stop trying to twist his words. That's just rude and obnoxious.

Ahhh, not twisting words young grasshopper. Just pointing out that every properly made sword has two edges that can cut as equally as the other. I wouldn't take what Duvie posted before very lightly.

PS: Samauri swords excluded. ;)

So was I... actually, I was using the reference the author of the article sited. And you had to be a smartass and tell me not to comment without reading the article, which I did... more thoroughly than you apparently.

Back on topic. Since questionable methods are used to get either of them above 10,000... is it even valid? What do they both do out of the box? More imporantly, what do they do in real games? One needn't look far.

Ahhh yes, you're talking about my impending 'vacation'. I noticed that both you and Duvie like to threaten people with 'vacations', as if you had some authority around here. Well I'll remind you again that you are not a mod here. But hey, if you want to start one of your campaigns in FI to get me banned, all I can say is BRING IT.

It's just funny how Rollo has to show up in any thread that has anything remotely positive to say about ATI and crap on it.

Or any thread remotely negative about nVidia...

You misunderstand. I am not threatening Morph with a ban, because I am not a mod. I am only warning him that he could be banned for his personal attacks. As other people may pursue the issue and get Morph "noticed" by someone special. And who knows.

What a funny thread, especially the part about Sampsa using a "special tool" to boost his 3DMark05 score, implying that he used driver tweaks and unethical optimizations. I guess if raising your voltages is somehow a faux-pas than all the 7800GTX guys (or most ocers for that matter) who voltmod their cards would be guilty of the same crime. I for one applaud ATI for developing a software program that will raise voltages instead of having to resort to complicated hardware voltmods. Sheesh.

As far as 7800GTX's hitting 10,000+, I believe that was accomplished a while ago. Here is the 3DMark05 competition over at Xtremesystems.org. I count at least five 7800GTX cards over 10,000. I don't know if they were using the LOD tweak (debatably a cheat) or not but that's still impressive.

A few of the overclocking gurus are predicting 13,000+ when Sampsa runs 3DMark at ~1000/1000 (see post #44) which, to me, is incredible. Even if you're an Nvidia fan (and there's nothing wrong with that) you've got to admit that's pretty impressive.

The x1800xt was artifacting during the run yet you guys talk about image quality? lmao.

True, but still 1ghz is just amazing. Wonder if its possible on the GTX. (probably not)

AND this was done with WIzzards tool... not a ATI one so anyone will be able to do it.

I wonder how many of these we'll have to see until Rollo and 5150 face the fact that the X1800XT is real, it's coming in quantity, and it's fast.

i'm just curious how many of you can get the gpu to -80c..... seems like a very few "anyones" to me ;)
