OP thinks $2.13 for gas is cheap. Brainwash successful.

There is a town about 20 miles from me that is under $2.00. Kinda interesting that when congress starts grilling the oil companies prices start dropping.

what was gas PRIOR to the hurricanes? it wasnt much less, and people said Lutz was nutz when he said $2 a gallon would be reached again.

i saw it as low at 2.07, but i think its goin back up

my guess is that there will be another disaster and that will give companies a reason to jack it up again

$2.13/G is not cheap. You have been brainwashed into thinking it's cheap 😀
How much is it in Canada? England? Germany?

$3.00/gallon is still "cheap" compared to the rest of the world.

I remember in the summer of 2004 in my area it was steadily climbing. Around that time it was about $1.75-$1.90 depending on how far I was willing to drive to fill up. Before that, "normal" prices in my area that had remained relatively consistent for as long as I can remember were around $1.40-$1.60 range. I think the only reason it's dropping so much right now is because congress is holding the oil barrons feet to the fire over their insane profits. Exxon Mobil posted the single biggest corporate quarterly profit in HISTORY last quarter! And that's not just in THEIR history but as I understand it the biggest quarterly profit of ANY corporation. Soon as the CEO's grease all the right palms and manage to squirm their way out from under this current congressional inquisition, prices will shoot back up again.

They've been dropping for the last couple of weeks if you haven't been paying attention.

Congress is a joke with these "hearings".

I'm still afraid to open my natural gas bill for my house. I heard it is going to be very expensive this winter.

hehehehe

it would either be 89 cents a gallon or $0.89 / gallon.

.89 cents > 1 cent. 😉

anyway, that's not why i was quoting you. i quoted you to say, 8 yrs ago, 89 cents / gallon was the norm in NJ also. NJ as expensive as it is to live here has surprisingly low gas prices.

even now 2.29 is not uncommon. i've seen 2.23 and 2.26 in NJ.

Thanks for the fix. Corrected it.

Yeah I really can't think of what could possibly have happened to make that large of a difference in such a little amount of time...sad really. The good ol days 🙁

More accurate to compare with historical US prices. Comparison with other countries has been discussed ad nauseum. It would be interesting, however, to look at the differential between US and non-US gas prices in the past year or so. Did foreign fuel prices climb as much as US prices?

China and India increasing their demand for oil over the years. It's not rocket science.

Yeah, same here. I saw predictions of 43% increase for natural gas, and something like 30% for people who use oil. Great, I can expect something like $800+ this winter.
